EnderAndrew Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Here is another theory I found: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- On the Charlie Fans Thread it was mentioned that Locke and Ethan could be working together. I agree with this and wanted to go more in depth with it. For instance, it could be very likely that when Locke was out hunting he ran into Ethan. I guess because of Locke's skills they bonded and then him and Locke devised some plan to steal Claire's baby for whatever reason... Here's why i think this: 1. When Hurley starts doing the Manifest he goes to the caves and is asking questions. Locke starts asking what he's doing and by the look on his face he doesn't seem to happy about it. Later, when Hurley asks his info he stays very stand-offish. If he and Ethan were working together, he would know that Ethan wouldn't be on the flight manifest and their plot would be found. 2. When they are chasing after Ethan Jack wants to go immediately, but Locke stalls and goes back to the camp, knowing that Jack can't find Ethan without him. His demeanor here really reminds me of the scene where he convinces Sayid that Sawyer is that one that knocked him on the head. 3. Once they do find the trail he wants them to stick together on the false trail, he didn't want Jack to follow Charlie's finger things. Again, if him and Ethan were working together he would want to delay the search party or least it off in the wrong direction as much as possible. 4. He builds the craddle for Claire to build her trust 5. He appears in Claire's dream right before she is captured 6. He tries to convince Boone not to go with him on the hunt for Ethan, so he could be alone (persumably he could then team up with Ethan and do whatever) 7. It still seems implassible that Ethan could carry off Charlie and Claire together by himself. Interestingly enough, when Jack mentions this Locke sides steps this question and asks why he would carry them off. 8. Maybe Ethan had help when he killed the guy on the beach, which could've very well been Locke. 9. I think at first he thought Claire's baby was the child that was important to the island, but later on he bonds more with Walt (when he teached him to throw knives) and realize Walt is the special child. He then allows Ethan to be killed by Charlie, so nobody knows that he was involved (Ethan was maybe another sacrifice to the island in this respect).
kumquatq3 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 http://www.oceanicflight815.com/ click on 'the hatch' . follow the dots. enjoy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you click on that link and watch for a few seconds, a beam of light shoots up from the island. I think it's from the hatch, but.... also, as I have been saying since I saw the first episode, when locke said "there are two side, one light, one dark" it would be the most important clue we would ever get.
kumquatq3 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 That was a lot of work... but the end result... whoa <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just got there. That was pretty cool so I guess the light was the hatch
EnderAndrew Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I think that everything on the island is an aspect of duality. There will be two camps, the white and black stone, adam and eve, etc. I think there are actually two monsters. When Locke first saw the monster, he thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world. In the finale, he was terrified of what he saw. I also like the parallel of the young black boy playing backgammon with and older white guy. It is all about contrast. The hatch is Pandora's Box. Lenny, the insane guy who heard the numbers on the radio broadcast and gave them to Hurley said that Hurley had opened the "box". Locke said the Hatch contained Hope, which is the last thing to come out of Pandora's Box. Now, here is what the numbers really mean. Look closely. When Lenny is playing Connect 4 in the nuthouse, the board has a similiar pattern. The game had a grid of 6 x 7. Check out the the pattern now. What numbers are those?
kumquatq3 Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I don't get it, what do the numbers "really mean"? 1. I LOVE the pandoras box idea. 2. Was Locke really scared in the finally? He wanted Jack to release him. 3. Isn't that the big dipper in the picture?
EnderAndrew Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 It is similiar to the big dipper except for two things. The big dipper faces the other direction, and it has seven stars instead of six. There is also a recurring theme of mirrors and parallels, but I believe that to be a subset of the larger duality theme. People used to navigate by the stars, and thusly those stars and the numbers represent a means to get to the island. They unlock the secret. What exactly the island and secret is however I don't know. I like the Alien Ant Farm theory, akin to 2001, but I doubt that is really it. The Black Rock certainly made me think of the monolith in 2001.
Kor Qel Droma Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Anybody else pick up the DVDs today? Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
EnderAndrew Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Amazon told me the DVDs wouldn't hit my place until the 20th, but they arrived today despite shipping only yesterday. I watched all the special features and especially enjoyed the blooper reel, and the Jimmy Kimmel bit. All of the behind the scenes stuff was great none the less. I eager await discovering easter eggs on the discs, and walking the Walkabout episode with Terry O'Quinn's commentary. He actually responded to some questions of mine on The Fuselage.
Kor Qel Droma Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I just finished the series and the bonus disk. The Jimmy Kimmel was very good, like Ender says. Kimmel interviewing Matthew Fox was the highpoint for me. And after watching the entire run I think Ender made some valid points about Locke and Ethan. But now I think that the French Woman was Ethans accompice during the Claire abduction. I think perhaps Locke was distracting Jack as part of his whole 'destiny of the island' thing. And who would have thought that originally Jack was to be killed off in the pilot and they had Michael Keaton committed to the role ? Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
kumquatq3 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 And who would have thought that originally Jack was to be killed off in the pilot and they had Michael Keaton committed to the role ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats common knowledge in this thread, but ya, it's kinda neat.
kumquatq3 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 One more week! (w00t) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> isn't it the 28th? so 10 days?
Kor Qel Droma Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I have the 21st on my calender for Lost. Smallville starts on the 29th . Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
kumquatq3 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I checked, your all correct: Next Episode: SEASON PREMIERE Wednesday, Sept. 21, 9/8c "Man of Science, Man of Faith" In the season premiere, one of the castaways is chosen to descend into the mysterious hatch, and Shannon stumbles upon a shockingly familiar face in the jungle.
EnderAndrew Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I read in a TV Guide article who she runs into. She runs into Walt. It makes sense since she has Walt's dog, and Walt seemingly has an ability to call animals to him.

Kor Qel Droma Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I'm just glad it isn't Boone . Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
kumquatq3 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I'm just glad it isn't Boone . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats so what I thought it was going to be. and yes, I type/talk like a girl due to my Lost excitement
Kor Qel Droma Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I'd have to say of all the cast(aways) that Boone was my least favorite. Followed closely by the Charlie. Sometimes I call Jack Charlie still. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
kumquatq3 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I'd have to say of all the cast(aways) that Boone was my least favorite. Followed closely by the Charlie. Sometimes I call Jack Charlie still. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was starting to like Boone, right before the axed him. Jack is my least favorite, but I see him as a nessasary "evil" if you will. I think Saywer is my favorite. Maybe, of course, Hurley.
Laozi Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I've never seen anymore then a couple of minutes of any of the shows, and none of my friends seem to be into the show, we're not the network tv types. I am considering buying them, but I have to ask, Is it really worth it? I suspicious of any show who's character's names are Sawyer and Hurley I guess I really can't expect an unbiased answer here People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
kumquatq3 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I am considering buying them, but I have to ask, Is it really worth it? Yes I guess I really can't expect an unbiased answer here Pretty much
EnderAndrew Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I've never seen anymore then a couple of minutes of any of the shows, and none of my friends seem to be into the show, we're not the network tv types. I am considering buying them, but I have to ask, Is it really worth it? I suspicious of any show who's character's names are Sawyer and Hurley I guess I really can't expect an unbiased answer here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Consider me a bit unbiased. I really don't care for TV and it is very rare that I fall in love with a show. It isn't fair to compare Lost to various pantheon shows considering it has only had one season, but honestly I think we are experiencing the Twin Peaks/X-Files phenomenon all over again, but where as Twin Peaks blew its load after one season, and X-Files delayed its story over many years with monster of the week episodes, Lost has a mystery just as good, if not better. But there isn't just one mystery. And the more we learn about the series, the more questions we have. Even better yet, in addition to the island storylines, which are good enough on their own to sell this show, the creators put together a huge emsembe cast that is perhaps the strongest and most interesting group of characters on the whole that I have ever seen in a television show, period. I don't want to spoil anything. Download the 2 hour pilot off bitTorrent and be a bad boy. Then understand the show only gets exponentially better every single episode after that. I have little doubt you'll be throwing down cash for the DVD set after that. If I compared it to anything I've ever seen, I think the best comparison I can draw is to Neon Genesis Evangelion with its strong cast of characters, mysteries and layers of depth. Yet Lost has better characters than Evangelion, and I'm beginning to think the overall story arch is just as deep, subtle and wonderful. Yet the best thing I can say to sell this show is that it is perhaps one of the few shows I've ever seen that treats its viewers with respect. It is an intelligent show with hidden secrets, subtext and genuine depth. I've never felt the show catering to the lowest common denominator, perhaps save for the casting of a supposedly hot twig Paris Hilton-esque character to appeal to a younger demographic. Yet while I don't care for the actress or character, she is but one of 16 main characters in the first season, so she barely dilutes the greatness of the show.
Laozi Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Well, actually, you just sold me People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
kumquatq3 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Well, actually, you just sold me <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was the assertive yet gently way I said "Yes", wasn't it?
