There were some interesting views raised where concerns have been raised that West\US is going to drop Ukraine in the same way it " stopped " supporting other countries and there conflicts and futures  like Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq or Afghanistan

Firstly as usual lets drop the race card as something significant to the West\US response to geopolitical  developments. 

Each of these wars has different reasons for the ostensible  support or lack of support for the  specific country. But since the War on Terror has subsided Ukraine is much more significant than any of those conflicts for several reasons and its highly unlikely the West\US will abandon Ukraine for several reasons 

Putins War and the support for Ukraine  is a proxy war to end the continuous Russian hegemony  and militancy  and anti-Western rhetoric we have experienced in the last 20 years which  at some stage had to be addressed

Sadly its been fought by the people of Ukraine and they are suffering the real carnage of Putins unprovoked invasion

So the very least the West\US will do is continue to fund the Ukrainian war effort, this funding is relatively a small part of the budgets of Western countries and its much better than a direct Western presence fighting the Russians

The most important question is how much aid will come to Ukraine once Putins War is over, the jury is still out on that 

But the most important consideration is the West\US definitely wont abandon  Ukraine during Putins War because this invasion  directly threatens the stability of the EU even though its not a direct attack on the EU. And the US is involved because Putin has made this about the West and how the US is to blame somehow for the Democratic decisions  Ukrainians made and there  decisions around  sovereignty

It also threatens a number of western software developers who set up shop in Ukraine instead, to reduce the cost of development (I know some of them). The Baltic countries are (or were, 5 years ago) popular for this purpose too.

Ukraine cannot accept loss of territory and Russia has no reason to stop fighting.

Wouldn't be the first half-frozen forever-war in the world.
And no one will seriously invest in rebuilding when cruise missiles can strike their construction site at any moment.

Sure, it could go on for years but I dont think so. I expect an end to current active engagements in the next 1-3 years maximum

It is rumoured, the commander of Russian 2nd Motorized Rifle Division eva uated from Izyum 2 days ago. Before the  current counteroffensive, the approximate numbers of Russian military personel in close vicinity of Izyum was between 20-25 thousand. And today, it looks like, there are almost completely cut-off from GLOCs, and only one bridge is leading there (near the town of Oskil). The sitaution very similar to Kherson, with the exception, that this area has currently the least experienced Russian soldiers in whole Ukraine, and there is evidence, that they left some areas, including strategic ones, without proper defense. If I’d be one of the Russian Generals, I’ll be avoiding the proximity of windows and would remove tea from my menu in the foreseeable future…

Also the UA army is according to some Russian milbloggers around 20-25kms north of Izyum, and we’ll probably see a siege of the city soon.

@ComradeYellow should boast about the invincibility of the Russian army on this board more often. It seems, that as soon as he does it, UA kicks them out of bigger and bigger part of Ukraine.

Wow, few minutes, after I finished to write the previous post, this jumped out on me… If this is true, Izyum Raion would be completely cut off from Russian GLOCs, with all of the soldiers inside (1st Guards Panzer Army, 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division, 4th Guards Tank Division, and probably more) …

 

EDIT: Russia again at their propaganda’s best  , showing a video, how they are bringing reinforcements by Mi-26 to Izyum and Kupyansk to stop UA offensive. They somehow forgot to cover the site of filming, so some guys connected the images from the broadcast and found out, that the track of “alleged reinforcements are just track of two vehicles moving from one helicopter to second one

Russian milbloggers already proposing to retreat from Izyum as soon as possible, and defend behind the Oskil reservoir. Looks like their advices fall on deaf ears so far. But, the longer they stay, the more PoWs will end up in UA custody. So hope their generals will do nothing for at least a dozen hours

There are reports of big columns from Belgorod going toward Kupiansk. Other than that, the usual Russian reaction was one destroyed kindergarten in northern Kharkiv Oblast, and one shelled hospital in Sumy Oblast…

Also that 3rd Army Corps they rolled up out of something is still around, although I guess that's Kherson.  I guess that is priority.

By far the most successful UA attack on Russian lines, but Russians are committing reserves to contain it so don't get your hopes up yet.  Western Psyops are having a field day with this but all I see is a reminiscent of 1943 Kursk offensive where reserves eventually won out. 

@Mamoulian War Ukrainian Nazi army is invincible!  Western toys are gonna destroy Ruskieland, Putin is going to be overthrown by a shadow sect in Russia and what remains of Russia will be a Chinese oil factory with snowcaps.
