Ancelor Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 I think full attacks for sword and shield type of characters need some love. Implement a bash attack, maybe a stun effect, a push even or something else. But in any case I think we should have something for this type of melee attacks as well. Who's with me?
Boeroer Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 There are two shields that count as offhand weapon. You get the bonus from dual wiedling, Two Weapon Style, Weapon & Shield Style and Full Attacks. More of those would be fun. But I don't think we need a general change of the mechanics - because those two exist. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
XEternalXDreamsX Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 (edited) It would be nice if medium and large shields had a Bash upgrade to have it considered offhand during Full Attacks. Especially when it looks like a perfect shield but it would nice just to have it considered offhand weapon. Edited September 21, 2018 by XEternalXDreamsX
JerekKruger Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 I think some abilities for Fighters and/or Paladins based around having a shield equipped would be cool, however I agree with Boeroer that general full attacks shouldn't trigger a bash attack from shields as doing so would take away from the current unique bashing shields.
KDubya Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 I'd rather they gave all shields the ability to bash instead of having it be only for two unique shields. Been playing a lot of Divinity Sin 2 DE and really like how character builds are dependent on skills and tactics rather than the heavy reliance on specific unique gear use like DeadFire has. The random nature of the gear with random bonuses makes the moment before identifying something sort of like Christmas morning, full of anticipation. Here there are a few specific pieces that are integral to your build and everything else is vender trash

I would argue that DOS2 unique skills lend to fun playing, but not sure it is as interesting as POE. “How do you 'accidentally' kill a nobleman in his own mansion?" "With a knife in the chest.
