Hi developers, I finally see what folks are talking about (complaining about, really). I have almost all the content you've created, save a few original character ALTs and some dice, so this doesn't effect me as much as it effects others. However, I can plainly see that it kinda sucks that content you originally offered before in gold was changed to require $ (with no notice given in the actual game). I've been with you from the very beginning of PA and I think you should give your current loysl users a week or two to spend their gold at the original prices. It is fine to switch to requiring $, but you should give your loyal users a last chance to transition by spending their gold on characters, adventures, and dice, etc. Ok, you screwed up (saw the post about the announcement not going out)..... but you can still make this right. Just ask users (like me) which character alts, Adventures, etc. they want, subtract the gold at the original prices, and give access to those character alts and Adventures, etc. This is the right thing.....trust me on this. You give up a few bucks now to make your current loyal users happy and watch them stay with you and spend many more dollars on your new content going forward. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but you can make a lot of money off of users like me and your other loyal users who will pay for new content going forward. I spent about $175 on the content for just the physical game of Rise of the Runelords Adventure Card Game. Take my advice....don't betray your golden geese!

Fellow RPG fans, hello! My name is Felipe, and I'm currently working on a crowd-sourced book on cRPGs. After organizing the RPG Codex's Top 70 list, I decided to expand that into a full blown book. The idea is to feature in-depth reviews of over 250 great cRPGs in chronological order, from Akalabeth to Might & Magic X, plus interesting articles on the genre and interviews. All that written by RPG fans from all over the world, compiled into a beautiful book with big a colored screenshots. It is a book showing what the genre has best, and how people enjoy them. A book that every review that you read you will see that it was important for the reviewer and want to play the game he just talked. So far I've got some big developers in, like Tim Cain, Chris Avellone, Josh Sawyer (Obsidian has been very supportive ), Ian S. Frazier and Colin McComb. I also got full support and access to the content of forums like the RPG Codex and RPG Watch (including some stuff from RPGdot), DJ Old Games, some indie developers like Iron Tower Studios, Sinister Design and Rampant Games, as well as bloggers such as cRPG Addict and modders like Durante and Wesp5. Here's a small WIP preview: The entire project is entirely non-profit, so the final e-book will be freely available for download, under Creative Commons and all that. And if everything goes well I intend to make a paperback print also available, fully colored and in high-quality print, for those that want one. Non-profit as well, of course, sold at cost price. You can, of course, also suggest games that should be added. The reviews specifications: There are two kinds of reviews, the ones with one page and the ones with two. These are displayed on the list. If you think that the game you're writing about needs 2 pages instead of 1, contact me and we'll discuss it. But please note that not every game needs two pages, ok? One Page reviews have up to 2000 characters, one header image and 2 screenshots + descriptions. And they have room for one short side blurb or info-box. They feature a developer's quote and they have room for two or three short side info blurbs or info-boxes. They are a good place to point out things that won't fit the main text. The developer's quote will be handled by me (unless you know a good one already). The tone can be somewhat personal, talking about how you stayed up for a whole night trying to map that dungeon in Wizardry 4, but it’s very important that a reader that knows nothing about the game is able to understand what the game really is, its strong points and occasional flaws. Don’t say that “it has great combat”; explain why it’s great. BEFORE starting to write, please post on the thread about what will you do, PM me or send an e-mail to crpgbook at gmail.com. Hi guys, Until the Xmas break (now), I hadn't much time to refer to the forums (i.e. I assume that the devs are working with the community), so I got my information from Kickstarter updates. I apologise if this sounds self-serving or lazy: Would it be possible to include in the forthcoming updates, more feedback / Q&A etc. from the team? Josh has been doing a fantastic job, and this request is mostly to sate the desire to hear the "technical" / "strategic" project management and implementation particulars from the frontline as well as from leads. Earlier updates introduced the PE team to us, and I'd like this fleshed out a bit further. What has been working well for you? What (if anything) you like / dislike / were surprised about with regard to the Unity toolset? Was there some feature of the Unity engine you found counter-intuitive at first? Or felt constrained by? What is your proudest achievement (i.e. deliverable) to-date or what are you most excited about? What task are you most looking forward to? Thank you!

Today we have a meet the developer update with Dimitri Berman, Lead Character Artist on Project Eternity. We are planning for a design update next week, and then we will be going on hiatus for two weeks due to the holiday break! Q: Hi Dimitri! What do you do on the Project Eternity team? A: Hi everyone! I make sure all characters and creatures meet our set quality bar as they enter the game, this includes creation of high poly and low poly models, textures and materials, and occasional skinning and rigging. I work closely with animators, programmers, and designers to make sure our stuff looks and behaves as best it can, and also prototype new systems if we find something particularly cool we can do that the players will enjoy seeing. Occasionally I will jump over and help out the environment guys if they need help with complex set pieces. Q: What are you currently working on today? A: Today we're doing a couple of things. Firstly, we're getting our first weapons into the game, properly equipped by characters. And oh boy, there are going to be a lot of weapons, you can thank Josh for that! And then I am working with Antonio, our character TD to prototype the character rigs for other playable races. Different races in Eternity will be different scales and this poses various challenges to making their equipment and animations. Q: What's your typical work day like on Project Eternity? A: Usually when I get in I make a cup of coffee. And then another. Then I usually Facebook until it is lunch-time. After lunch I take to Twitter like a madman, Pinterest and Instagram my fingers off, and then after more Facebook it is time to go home! In all seriousness, I usually check my work email, and get to work on our current goal. Right now we are not creating content, we are figuring out our pipeline for building every single thing in the game, so when the time comes to creating art (during Production), we can focus on the art itself and not fighting technology to make it all work. RPG's are really complex especially when it comes to characters and there are a lot of things we always keep track of, so players in the end can have a wonderful, bug-free experience. Q: What are you most looking forward to on Project Eternity? A: It's exciting that it is a brand new IP, which allows us to put creativity into characters and art that we would normally not be able to do due to IP constraints. Eternity is also going to be a really big world, with lots of stuff in it - it is going to be rewarding in creating so much art for our fans. Q: What other projects have you worked on at Obsidian? A: I have worked on Neverwinter Nights 2, its expansions, Dungeon Siege 3, and sadly a couple of cancelled projects. Aliens 4EVER. Q: Where do you like to eat for lunch? A: Southern California has cuisine from everywhere, so I like to mix it up, be it Thai, sushi, or In-n-Out. But I think I eat more Mexican food than any other. It all started with me living in New Mexico for 10 years and then moving to San Diego. Q: What do you like to do when you aren't making art? A: What? Q: Who's your favorite artist? A: I would say HR Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski are two of my all-time faves. Q: And your favorite Ninja Turtle? A: Leonardo, hands down. He is the true ninja. Q: What about Rafael? A: I find his equipment lacking. Q: What's your favorite game? A: Oh god, I don't know where to begin. There are tons of good games, I don't know if I have a favorite. I've always been a PC guy, and I grew up on first person shooters (Dooms, Quakes, ROTT's), RTS games, and of course old fashioned RPG's. I would play Eye of the Beholder non-stop, drawing out my own map by hand because minimaps weren't invented back then. But with games like Shadow of the Colossus, Dark Souls, and Journey, there are jewels in the modern console world that I really, really enjoy. Q: And finally what's the best brand of Vodka? A: Vodka is vodka, can't go wrong. I've heard about these two being good, but I've yet to try them - пять озер or зеленая марка (Five Lakes, supposedly Siberian, and Green Mark) .
