  1. I am "Yes-Man" and apparently my opinions are "dangerous" because I find the beta enjoyable. Cool.
  2. Really? I dont recall saying that. I do recall stating that NWN2 combat wasnt the best but that AoOs weren't what detracted from the combat experience in that title. But, hey, if you need to stick words in other posters mouths to make a point, have it. Throw in some childish name calling too. Im sure thatll really highlight your "arguements."
  3. You liked NWN2 combat Sensuki?
  4. What they promised boils down to "feels." The level to which they reached that is subjective but they cannot be charged with failing to reach those promises in the current implementation since promises were vague
  5. I'm dangerous.
  6. You are reading a level of specificity into their pitch that simply was not there.
  7. @Sensuki Great, so you decide what systems are central and what progress is right? @Reaper Nope. None of that crap. They dont read what they want into a single vague sentence uttered by the devs 2 years ago and then rant that the game isnt a carbon copy of some other game. They play, look for bugs and explain whether or not they are having a good time.
  8. I could almost understand this incessant complaining (though not agree with it) when many people took issue with the combat. Now that its playing so well and numerous folks have recounted how much they are enjoying the game, this is just being obtuse and obstructionist. I have no doubt that the feedback from their internal testers, who are not working towards their own agenda, is overwhelmingly positive at this point. The dev team itself noted that combat is feeling pretty good. When things are working and feeling good, the last thing you do is start ripping out core systems with 6 months left to release.
  9. Well, one way to break combat in this game isnt that bad considering there was a multitude of ways to rest spam and trivialize combat in the IE games. Moreover, it seems like fixing one issue with a mechanic is a better solution than ripping out the mechanic entirely. Be sensible, man.
  10. Again, there is no unified understanding.
  11. Lol, there is no problem. These design goals were laid out forever ago. Some minor AI changes and some improved visual feedback and we are golden. The devs already addressed their thoughts on engagement in the last update. They are going to improve visual feedback. Continuing rant at this point is meaningless since its obvious they will try that before anything else.
  12. Combat is feeling pretty good. Many posts acknowledge this. I just dont see the wisdom in ripping out mechanics when the system is playing well.
  13. Engagement is fine. They are working on adding better visual feedback to it and that will be huge. Game feels great now and will get better once they make things like engagement more visually obvious. Already combat feels damn good and all it took was a few small tweaks. There is value in small purposeful changes. Large systems changes that entail ripping out systems would water down the games design and may lead to unforseen problems as a result.
  14. Gairnulf: This might might have been my favorite quote of yours Man, lol, keep fighting the power man!
  15. Gairnulf: Oh lord... There is no agenda. The "minority" here is not a monolithic single entity that has a single driving set of goals or beliefs. We are not an underclass being oppressed by some faceless corporation/power structure/dictator/whatver. I am not sure what you are being influenced by, be it the Hunger Games or 1984, but we dont need Katniss to free us from Big Brother here. This is not a political venue. All this talk of silent majorities and the democracy and Poli Sci 101 stuff is gibberish here. This is discussion forum. We discuss, disagree, agree, suggest, rant, rave, praise and ponder. We all do these things differently and for different reasons. The devs occaisionally poke their heads in and look at the patterns of our interaction. They may or may not see something of value from our discussion. We may note perceived issues but they choose whether or not to acknowledge them and what, if any, solutions are required. There are no real votes. There is no agenda. We are not a Congress, Council or Cabinet. They are the developers. We are but a small, tiny representation of their fans. That is the extent of the value of this forum. At the end of the day, this is for the best. They are putting this together. Thats a good thing since they are far more qualified than any of us.
  16. Lol, sure man.
  17. I am curious how far AI can go in curbing some of those issues.
  18. Feel free to ignore or read whatever text in my posts you like. And, by all means, feel satisfied. I know I am.
  19. I think its intended that only the skills of the main character matter for convos.
  20. The old system had flaws too. There are not enough skills to make it meaningful. I am not a fan of the current system but it may be ok if they dramatically increase the talent list (like double or more) and balance them all. I am curious what their internal conversation is on this.
  21. Gairnulf: Lol. Anyway, I trust their definitions over anyone else's on this forum. Quite frankly, I paid for a game made by OE. I love their games. Not the games of anyone else on this forum. They have more experience than anyone else in this community with the IE games since some of them helped make some them. I am happy that they take input but they decide what the design goals are and what to do with that input. Basically, they call the shots. They dont need any lists. And, honestly, they have delivered.
  22. They determine what the zeitgeist is. They have more than enough experience to define that themselves. They are the artists. If they want our input on that, they ask. Also, with less than 1/2 a year for release, it is far too late to get into discussion over core design philosophy.
  23. Gairnulf: Um, we dont give them demands. We may have helped, collectively, to commission this and may offer suggestions but we dont tender lists of demands. They are the arbiters of this game's fate. This forum is a purely advisory body representing a small sub sect of their sum audience. Moreover the opinions here are varied and often conflicting. This forum cannot and should not function to generate lists but, instead, discussion. From this discussion, the devs may or may not take action. Basically, the basis of your suggestion is ludicrous.
  24. "**** off it's bad design, it's exactly how it was in the IE games - get used to it." That should be your sig
