  1. I don't have the window problem, but I do have the desktop problem, it forces me to restart after playing the game. kind of annoying. I have no idea what causes that.
  2. runs on mine, and I'm having a lot of fun playing the game. P.S. and I didn't have to make any adjustments to my drivers or my settings. It just so happens, I'm lazy and never update my drivers. I'm still using 4.11 drivers. In fact, I rarely update drivers. I alway say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. My games all run good with 4.11 (except morrowind which has ctd issues, but I don't think that is a video driver problem)
  3. I was really worred about this one, so I went to Dantoine, even though I'm still not finished with onderon. just to check things out. The big bird flying overhead didn't affect anything for me. btw I have ati 9600 XT, 4.11 drivers. windows xp (not using sp2) the only problems is the movies are a little quirky. and after several hours the conversations seem a bit laggy. I usually restart the game when this happens. I can't say this bothers me too much, not like Morrowind which I have to restart almost every hour.
  4. yes some of the ithorian dialogue was too quick what about using the space bar during conversations? does it pause it? probably not... what bothers me more is when dialogue is skipped completely yes what was that t3?, *flash of t3 and no dialogue*, ok good i was getting worried! argh <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the only time I saw t3 skipped dialoge was when I was having conversation problems after watching the movies (not the cutscenes but the movie). problems with my ati card. But the game seems to work pretty good otherwise. Often, I'll go long times without viewing movies, so it's no big deal. The game runs great. I'm afraid to tough anything. I at least want to finish the game before trying to get it running better.
  5. I don't have SP2. I'm not sure if that means anything, but who knows. It's always fun to blame microsoft.
  6. but you could alway click the mouse to advance the conversation. I'd rather it be too slow than too fast.
  7. still running good for me. Like I mentioned before I'm running 4.11. Being lazy about upgrading my drivers has really helped me for once I still have slight problems with the movies. (just the movies, not the cut scenes). The graphics qualities on the movies looks kind of poor. And the movies do seem to introduce some problems with the game as well (mainly during conversations- the characters animations will stutter). But actually I haven't had any suttering problems on the Oderan moon. But when it does happen, I leave the game and come back. it would be nice to have a little more image quality on the movies, but oh well. the actual game is what interests me the most. I play games for gaming, not to watch a movie. I just hope it holds up, people have been reporting the game runs fine, until they hit a specific planet. so far I've only been to Telos, the mining station, and the oderan moon.
  8. actually, I found out what drivers I'm running. It was under options in the advanced tab. 4.11. And my card is Radeon 9600 XT. And I have an Athalon cpu. I even skipped the movies, and things started of fine on Telos (aside from the subtitles going to fast- see my thread on this- I just can't read that fast). So we'll see how long that last. Like I said, last night, it didn't start acting up until about 4 hours into the game.
  9. when aliens speak in their tongue, we have no choice but to read the subtitles. I can't keep up!. Perhaps this is a graphics card issue, I don't know. It was never this fast in Kotor1. If I read really fast I can get it all, but then I don't get the meaning of what they are saying. So I figure out what is going on exactly. right now I just got on telos, and this ithorian is explaining to me about restoration problems his people are having, and something about czerka corporations. It's too fast when he speaks!
  10. very simple system. the first number ("4") is the last digit of the year they were released. 2004 in this example. the second number is the month they were released in. in your example of 4.11, they were released Nov 2004. back to my gameplay experience... Cat 4.10 BBA Radeon 9600XT, 128 mb all settings are maxed and the game runs spiffy. :D V***V <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah but mine had 4 numbers. am I looking in the right place? and where can I find older versions? I'm going to attempt to run the game again. Like I said, it was good throughout most of the mining station. But it seemed to be acting up a little on telos.
  11. how do I check which version of catalyst I am running? and where can I look to find different versions? edit: I found this in my properties: 6.14.10.6490 for the driver version. What version is that? I have been hearing numbers like 4.11 etc. In any case, I have been having some stuttering during the speech, and seem to be getting a few more problems since I reached Telos. But I have quit for the night, so we'll see tomorrow. I used to have problems in KoTor1 after several hours of play as well.
  12. oh, nasty stuff in this thread. I have a radeon 9600, though, I'm pretty sure it's the XT version. Not sure of the difference. It's a 128 mb card. I haven't had too many problems, though I haven't "restarted" the game. I just got it today and played it for about 6 hours. It seemed to get a little bit of stutttering in conversations the last couple of hours. And when loading a movie, the screen would go black and it would take a few seconds for the movie to start. I'm not getting the low memory problems I get with KOTOR 1 though. I can't rememer what the cause of those were. I thought it was because I had antialiasing on, but that doesn't seem to be it. I currently have the high texture pack and I'm running 1024 X 76 whatever at 85 fps. I have antialisasing and antitropy at 2X. I have soft shados and vsync on, though I don't know what those do exactly.
