  1. I'm surprised/mildly disappointed I haven't gotten mine yet....I live like 15 minutes from the Obsidian offices, someone should just drop it off at my house after work... ha!
  2. I'm sure all of these have been brought up, especially a debate on respeccing. I have to say that making Beloved Spirits worthless is one thing, but now having my Main character on my main play through stuck with two bad talents with no way of changing them is pretty irritating. I know people have their reasons for being against being able to change your build mid game, but if patches are going to change a lot, I would definitely be in favor of a very costly option or patch day respecs. Also it would help me not dread leveling up because it results in me spend two hours trying to figure out my choices wprrying I'm going to get stuck with something.
  3. Same... First real bug I've encountered except mine was from the druids in Cad Nua lv 3
  4. Wow I clicked on this thread to make a silly comment about hotcakes...all you all beat me to it. All the reviews are saying "buy this game" plus a loyal fanbase of old school gamers, it seems like it should sell well.
  5. I ended up going! Glad I did, the place had a good happy vibe. Plus snacks and beer being on the house was an unexpected bonus! I talked to Adam Brennecke for a bit which was cool. I personally thanked him for making sure the "You must gather your party" line was in the game and voiced. He said he's rolling Barbarian! He was super nice. I also talked to a tester and Carter who worked on some area maps but I didn't get a chance to ask him which ones he did specifically so I can look out for them. I also didn't want to be "that guy" trying to force conversations with people. I saw someone doing that with Tim Cain. He seems like the type that would be too nice to stop someone from talking his ear off. I saw Josh Sawyer for a second when I first walked in but I think he went off into hiding. I would have liked to talk to him because I also got my degree in history. Oh also my girlfriend who I dragged along had fun, especially because I voluntarily took her to a place with dancing! Aghh Now i just have to get through 4 more hours of work and then I can go on a marathon until Monday.
  6. Ehhhh I think I would have gotten the game on GOG if I knew about this.....oh well. Now i can't go into work sleep deprived. Edit: Or maybe it's the same for GoG too. In any case... this is probably better for my health.
  7. This could be a problem because my house is very low on sustenance. I can't be bothered leaving the house for such trivial things like eating. I guess I could try and convince my girlfriend that she has to come by with food or else I will starve... but that's risking having to take time away from saving the world. Troubling.....
  8. Considering that it says that 200+ people are going on Facebook, they aren't being very secretive. I don't even think the club in question is that big. Since it wasn't mentioned anywhere here I figured I should withhold the exact location. Yeah hopefully someone can clarify.... I'm not up for being turned away at the door. Oh so it's 9:00 am and not midnight? I guess I missed that..... So no staying up all night and going into work sleep deprived? Dang.
  9. Sounds like you want "rational" not "clever". Which seems right to me -- "clever" is almost never an unmixed compliment, as it often implies shallowness and being overly elaborate for its own sake. It's because in RL I've worked on being clever and smart in conversation without seeming rude or snotty because when I was younger people just thought I was a complete smart ass. Rational is described as being practical, standoffish, or cold. So not as much that. Clever is what I would want, but not this iteration of it. Maybe if it was "humorous" instead of irreverent. I guess I'll have to rely on the Intelligent and Perceptive and passionate dialogues more then.
  10. I don't know if this is some secret but I saw on Facebook that some of the developers are going to club in So cal tonight to celebrate the release at midnight with whatever backers that wanted to come. I was surprised because I live a few minutes away! Sounds interesting but now I've got a dilemma.... Should I go stand around awkwardly at a nightclub or actually be at home and play the game as soon as I can?
  11. I share you pain. I'm going to play a non-tanky Paladin, and I wanted him to be Perception/Resolve, hahaha, yeah right. I'm going to fix the Attributes via modding myself, though, provided that Obsidian actually fixes the assets issue in the first patch (... ). But damn if it's not annoying having to do so. What's the difference between "fixing" the attributes... and "cheating"? Sounds.....clever!?
  12. To quote another of my favorite games: "There ain't no getting offa this train we're on!"
  13. It has to be separate from the Digital version. This is what it says for my Retail Pack: Box Version of Pillars of Eternity, DRM free for Windows, Mac, or Linux, with DVD and printed manual. Digital Downloadable Copy of Pillars of Eternity, DRM free for Windows, Mac, or Linux. Two different versions... right?
  14. From my understanding, yes. The backer copy is a DRM free copy of the game that is separate from the Steam or GoG key you will get from the backer portal. Thanks, that was my understanding for the last 2+ years. Got nervous when it asked me to commit to Steam.
  15. Just to be sure. I just generated a Steam Code. The Retail Pack will come with a box that has a different copy of the game, yes? One that can be DRM free.
  16. People just want to feel special..... Spoiled kids wanting to get everything FIRST. If there is something to complain about its that they are releasing the game on a Thursday when I could only take Friday off of work to play! I am going to be going nuts on Thursday. Come on Obsidian, cater to me specifically!
  17. Well looks like I got one answer from the Manual. Clever – sarcastic, sassy, foppish, or irreverent. Not my idea of clever. Especially the irreverent part.
  18. What? I assume you have played other Obsidian titles? As much as it pains me to say it, because I think Obsidian have made the best games I've played in recent years, like Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas and NWN2:MotB, they have had some serious issues with bugs and glitches on release. Yes. I have played every Obsidian game. AP and MotB I had zero issues with. Recent games such as DS3 and Stick of Truth, zero issues. I remember having problems with the camera and group movement in NWN2 which made it borderline unplayable at times, but that was fixed in a patch before I had finished the game. So first off, I haven't really experienced a lot of bugs in Obsidian games (unlike the Troika games - Bloodlines and ToEE were both impossible to complete because of bugs in the state I first installed them in). You don't play a game because it has few bugs. There are gazillions of complete **** games out there without a lot of bugs. What matters is the style and substance of the game - I'd rather Obsidian focus on that and then patch things up afterwards. I'm not some over picky person who expects perfection. I can live with bugs as long as they don't break my save game. Considering I and many others are literally invested in this game, hearing that the game is light on bugs is good for its overall success. Having a bad reputation for bugs (especially from a big media source) would scare off many buyers.
  19. Weird, I have Kotaku on Facebook and see a lot of their stuff. I'm a veteran nerd and I've never encountered anything reprehensible. Is this like a gamer hipster thing? Why did the hipster burn his tongue? Because he sipped his coffee before it was cool. hur hurr
  20. Exactly. Something is rotten if Kotaku likes it, haha! I only scim-read through the OP here and didn't venture to the actual article, but I wholeheartedly agree. It seems I will be pleasantly surprised at the lack of bugs. Obsidian, what happened? A lack of bugs and glitches? What!? It's almost like getting to push back their game and not release it on someone else's schedule actually helped?! WHAT Also.....what's with despising Kotaku? What am I missing?
  21. There's some story spoilerish stuff that they talked about for the main character that I wasn't too happy about. Besides that, this is encouraging. Especially the part about limited bugs and an immersive world.
  22. yeah I've made that connection too. He does have a point though. What would you call it instead?
  23. Yeah I know, that was the question, whether class is one of the lesser attributes....
  24. I have been debating this for like a month and still can't decide between Chanter Human Ixamitl Plains Philosopher Passionate/Clever A story teller and thinker who challenges others to think of things from different perspectives. Paladin Human Darcozzi Paladini Aristocrat - Old Valia Clever/Passionate Knight, and righter of wrongs. He is very intelligent and discerning, unlike the stereotypical fanatic Paladin. Both would be sword and board, front line tanks with high Perception, Resolve and Intelligence. Name will probably be Ignatius. AGHHH Can't decide!!!!!
  25. Do we know how reactive the world is going to be to player class? Or is personality choices/background/culture going to play more of a role? Still having a hard time deciding between a Chanter (better gameplay) or a Paladin (better for my role playing). I'm guessing no full on class quests but if there is little class dependent dialogue it would affect my choice. Also, I played an older beta for maybe an hour and one thing I noticed that "clever" options most often were "be a smart ass" and were borderline rude. I envisioned playing an intellectual Darcozzi Paladin, meaning I would be pushed to choose clever most of the time but if the result is picking fights and being a jerk rather than being able to impress people with wit I may build a different character. Is this the impression other have gotten or have I just not seen enough? As a side note, I know Bleak Walkers are all the rage but does the Darcozzi Fire Shield Talent seem at least passable? I would be a tank getting hit a lot.
