Televisions
I'm seriously considering getting a new TV. There comes a time in every mans' life where a choice must be made: LCD or Plasma? I'm not looking to buy one of those monster 55 inch models either, just something slightly larger than the current 32 inch old school spine adjuster I have now. Anyone have any advice? Of course I'll be using it for gaming, although I've read that screen burn isn't really that much of an issue anymore.

I'd say the only thing the Hockey News seems right about is St.Louis placing last in the west. Ruutu still hasn't signed with the club for this season yet, has he? If he's healthy, look out. That kid plays mean and intense. If he and Havlat can stay out of the trainers' room they should both have great years. And I love the analogy for Mark Bell, Laozi.

And why would they have Dallas pegged so high? I mean, Eric Lindros isn't really a great addition to any team. Ask Mkreku! " I seriously see the Sharks taking the prize in your division this year. Alyn McCauley might be missed on the checking line, but Mike Grier and Curtis Brown are two of the better defensive forwards in the league. The only thing really missing is a top flight left winger to play with Thornton and Cheechoo. Plus some real help for Marleau on the second line. " I didn't watch a lot of Chicago games last season since there was no Ruutu after the first month or so, but Mark Bell is a big mean SOB who has a decent set of hands. Laozi is the Blackhawks expert, he can probably fill you in better than I can on what kind of player Bell is.

I agree, Columbus has a feeble chance at making the cut. They traded away one of their best goalies to the Lightning, and don't have much for depth past the first line and a half. I usually don't like making predictions until the season actually starts, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Minnesota will take home the Northwest division banner this year. And it should be noted that the writer who pegged Anaheim to take the title this year is also a douchebag by the name of Mike Brophy. Sure, they might stifle teams offence with the Weinermeyer and Pronger tandem, but to expect another ninety point season from Teemu Salami is like asking for Christmas to come twice in one year. During September... As for my beloved Oil, I see another season of barely making the playoffs. Although I can't really comment on them until I see how our stripped down defence holds up and if Roloson has recovered from his knee injury.

Well, let's see, J.P. Dumont ends up in Nashville, and still Anson Carter gets no takers. It's good to see there is a god. And the Hockey News yearbook came out today. For those Euros who probably don't get this on your side of the pond, to a lot of Canadians this is what we refer to as our 'bible'. There's a nice write up about who Mats Sundin is going to play with this season. Of course I'm a little miffed that they have Edmonton slated for 12th in the west, but considering the fact that the magazine is written in Toronto it kind of puts a little bit of bias to it. Here's what THN are predicting: The East: 1.Carolina 2.Ottawa 3.Rangers 4.Devils 5.Sabres 6.Flyers 7.Montreal 8.Atlanta 9.Tampa Bay 10.Toronto 11.Florida 12.Boston 13.Pittsburgh 14.Islanders 15.Washington The West: 1.Anaheim 2.Nashville 3.Calgary 4.Sharks 5.Dallas 6.Detroit 7.Minnesota 8.Columbus 9.Phoenix 10.Kings 11.Canucks 12.Edmonton 13.Colorado 14.Chicago 15.St.Louis

Movies You Have Seen Lately
Three days. Twenty four one hour episodes. The complete run of Carnivale unfolded before mine very own eyes. Nice bonus features on the season two DVD spell out some of the plot for those who still couldn't grasp it. I know I'm beating a dead horse talking about a dead show, but the way this series was set and presented blows away anything I've ever seen on teevee before, and I've watched a lot of it. If your video store has the series available for rent, pick it up.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
JLU wrapped up after three seasons. As for Avatar, I've caught a few episodes before and I must say it's better than a lot of the weak cartoons that are on the teevee now. And that Legion cartoon looked just plain horrible. 'Think cold and blow' Lightning Lad says to Superboy when he asked how to use his superbreath. Plus it looks like they've ditched the animation style of JLU/B:TAS in favor of the magna-esque look of the Teen Titans cartoon, which sucks in my opinion. edit:Here is the clip I was talking about

Last night I had the chance to watch the first half of season one of Carnivale. Quite simply if you can get into the story you're hooked.

Well I wouldn't buy a Switchfoot album if I had a choice. I was more into the video than the song, although the two seemed to mesh well together. The Offspring - Self Esteem

SInce we're waxing nostalgic here, I'll contribute my final song before logging off for the night: George Harrison - See if you can recognize the male lead in this video. He's a rogue demon hunter, youknow. Plus I prefer this version to that lame one with the animated room.

Tom Petty - Mary Jane's Last Dance That was JGBs' lead singer Peter Wolf on his debut solo single. Ah, to be eleven again... And for the record, Freeze Frame stands out as my favorite song from the J Geils Band. It's just too catchy.

Touch And Go used to feature the Lemonheads before they were signed by a major label, if I remember correctly. And if anyone else can remember this song, congratulate yourself on being old!

No, TBH I don't have any BB albums or anything, just that one song. *Hint hint* All I really think of whenever I hear of those guys is Brian Wilson sitting in a sandbox and Charles Manson... Dwight Twilley - ..live!

That was different. Of course with a great song like that, you could have posted some dead rat picture and I still would have sat through it. The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice?

See, and I liked this one better because there was less Hulk. Apples and oranges, my friend, apples and oranges... Plus I thought this one had a better story.

Ultimate Avengers 2. After thinking the first installment of this animated series was fair to good, the second mini movie was much better. Plus there was a nice featurette on the Ultimate line of comics in the special features. I've now seen the famous 'Do you think this A stands for France?' panel.

What are you playing now?
After barely making the cut for the money ( with only 680 chips) I tripled up and lasted another fifty players. I just hit three tens with an ace kicker, but was elimated by another players straight. I guess 244th out of 2138 players isn't bad, but it's not quite good enough, you know?
