You might think all red-heads are bad, but all women should hold you in contempt for lacking chivalry. Furthermore, why should voicing your own preferrence require you to make stupid and assinine comments about some one else. Notice, I didn't say someone else's preferrence. You give some nurishing food for thought, LC, but some of your responses clearly show that you don't understand my overarching point. ...Or at least that I did not convey my point properly. I'm going to try to come up with an example that clearly shows how I think of this, but I want to address one thing up front. I don't see unwinnable battles as a way to punish the player or push them in a different direction. At heart, I want to provide for the player an overall goal but it's hard, in the current trend to get players to think outside the box of "battle! I. must. win." I want to provide several possible alternatives to accomplishing a goal, none of which include charging and defeating an entire army single-handedly. Indeed, the point is that the only option might be to withdraw and come at the objective from a different angle. You say you hate that, but I wonder if it's really the way that we've been conditioned to approach these games more than the underlying idea. The point is to come up with a way to implement this plan into a fun gaming experience, not punish the payer with it.

The problem is, no one has told me the days or times they'd like to play. If we can establish that, I'll throw the game back out there.

Oh, my comment wasn't really aimed at you, Spider. Well, if it were, I didn't mean it to be harsh. I'm just saying that some folks like the collector's edition. I've bought a few. If it's important enough to pre-order, there's a good chance I'll get the CE. If not, then there's probably no chance in hell. I actually regret not getting the game CE. I have two copies right now and I'm currently trying to convince my wife to play. She's playing WoW, though, and I just don't see her starting a new CRPG right now. So, I'm another multi-game household.

Not only that, but it's meta's money. If he likes having the collector's edition--if he enjoys the looks or any of the additional content--then why shouldn't he buy them. There are people who say that it's stupid to buy the game in the first place. Either they think the game itself is a waste of time or they pirate the software online. Are we stupid for buying it? As long as meta is happy with his purchase, then I don't see anyone should second guess him.

Yeah, don't count on the demo to give you any real information. More of an FPS than an RPG.

Okay, I'm going to keep the server running. What I want to know is: 1) if I use the DM client, will I be the Dungeon Master? I want to be able to run the server even when I'm not actually present. That means you guys running characters while I'm in the role of the DM standing in the start area. 2) Can folks move around and have fun independent of one another? The single player campaign requires a single party, so you guys will have to choose a different module if you want separate parties. 3) What module should I use? If you have a module suggestion, let me know. 4) Are DnD hardcore rules okay for everyone? and 5) Who all will be joining? If I can get it set up and get it to run without having to run a character, I'll just let the server run whatever module you guys want to use. For the time being, I will disable PvP. Okay, I see that Blank was in there. We'll get this worked out soon enough I'm sure. Unfortunately, I need to figure out how I can approach this. I shut down the server because it didn't look like anyone was there. Blank, if you were still in there, I'm sorry. This is just a beginning, so don't get discouraged. Right now, we know that we can create a server, for sure, and that others can join. Now we just need to set up a time. I've started the server. The server name is Obsidianites. The password is Obsidz. There is no PvP right now. I've started the NWN2 campaign and I am in the role of DM, mostly because I can't stay. I'm hoping it doesn't make it impossible to continue if I'm not there. We'll find out. If some of you can check it out while I'm gone, I'd appreciate it. Check to see if you can interact with NPCs and move from area to area if I'm not there. Also, it's set at one party for now, but, as time progresses, I'm willing to try new things. I'm just now getting started on reading what other folks have suggested for modding, so this will all help me get up to speed.

Okay, I'm going to start the server again in about an hour with myself as DM. That's because I want to host for you, but I won't be there to play. I started the uninvited guests module successfully with Pidesco and the Campaign successfully with Tigranes. I'll be back again in a bit to get it started.

If the latest batch of port forwarding doesn't work, I'll yank out some hair, scream, grind my teeth, rend my garments, and then try again. Oh, I'm going to set PVP as NONE. this isn't a done deal, but I don't want you guys creating bad blood tweenst yourself until after the server is functioning. Then you can back bite each other to your utmost contentedness.
