Sometimes those financial needs are fulfilled with loans, which the student has to qualify for... so yeah money can be a factor.

That's the plan that I described to one of my math teachers over a year ago. Nice to know that I wasn't completely talking out of my arse! I figure that I can learn design by just continuing to play/examine games. I'm under the impression that I need to go to school to learn how to program properly, so off I go.

I know of two people who followed that course of action and they were both accepted . It should work!

I disagree. Most "brain abilities" must be developed, usually through some sort of education. Self-education of a subject such as programming is possible, but only certain individuals can successfully teach themselves the things that educators can.
