  1. is easy to forget that russians making a game in russia could be a different exercise than what you might expect from the hurdles faced by obsidian or other game developers. at the ~38:00 mark, james jacobs o' paizo stresses the importance o' making games inclusive... racial, ethic, sexual, etc. at this point the owlcat folks got uncharacteristic taciturn and subject were changed immediate following mr. jacobs' response. HA! Good Fun!
  2. in the linked video, at ~1:26:00 mark, one o' the paizo guys asks chat and the owlcat folks what ap they would want to do next. ... first thought were we could make so much money playing poker with these particular owlcat folks. was quite obvious they didn't wanna get in trouble talking 'bout what had already been discussed internal for the follow-up release. brief discussion only referenced 1e ap material as options, but were hardly definitive. side note: the other frontrunner options for the second owlcat game were mummy mask (too much desert,) ironfang invasion (setting too similar to kingmaker,) and war for the crown (too much city content-- high resource.) am not having the patience to view the entire video in a sitting, or two... or three. HA! Good Fun! ps keep in mind is not our editorializing regarding mummy mask, ironfang and war for the crown but rather the owlcat personalities, so point out all the city content in wotr is an obvious response, but am just relaying for those who don't feel like watching all ~three hours.
  3. the thing is, it makes sense from a paizo pov to not have 1st edition being bolstered while they is trying to sell 2e pnp products. when black isle was working on what was effective bg3, it were made kinda clear it could not be another 2nd edition d&d game, 'cause wotc had moved on from 2nd edition. assume same reasoning for paizo, yes? converse, owlcat has already invested in developing an engine which supports 1e, so what is their motivation to embrace 2e? got no idea what is the license agreement 'tween paizo and owlcat, but perhaps they is ps:t fans and both parties embraced the rule of three? *shrug* all we got is a recollection o' yulia responding to the 2e question during a beta stream, which is hardly definitive. even so, is curious paizo licensed the development o' a 1e game, much less two such titles. is reasonable to assume paizo would want 2e instead o' 1e. unfortunate, reasonable is rare a good guide for predicting human behaviour. edit: have not watched any o' this, but is paizo folks and owlcat discussing wotr and kingmaker. HA! Good Fun!
  4. mentioned this previous, but during one o' the beta walkthrough streams, yulia chernenko(sp?), an owlcat developer, responded to a query 'bout the possibility the owlcat folks would do a second edition adventure in the future. weren't any evasiveness-- no plans or even serious consideration o' doing a second edition adventure. obviously yulia is not the ultimate arbiter o' owlcat development decisions, but is likely she has some awareness o' what is being considered for their next release, the early design stages which has no doubt already begun. HA! Good Fun!
  5. touch ac and rays is the way we went. she has decent dex, which may be enhanced considerable, and there is a plethora o' bonus to touch attack items, resulting in her rays hitting... period. ascendant element fire is a good idea, and maybe consider taking electricity or cold late, but cold makes sense only if you got an azata run going and are able to use the waterfall spell. we coulda' done more to boost her sneak attack damage, but the one level o' vivisectionist and four levels o' arcane trickster we gave her were sufficient. mythic arsenal stuff allows you to double up the benefits from feats and such which boost a spell school and apply those benefits to another spell school, so enhance illusions for the cc and get benefits to evocation for blasting. make sure to get heighten meta magic so you are able to flood your spell slots with scorching rays (early) and hellfire rays, and as we noted, there is items which boost sonic damage and sonic is one o' the energy types least likely to be resisted. by the time you are in chapter four you are having no shortage o' metamagic rods. don't skimp on those even if they is pricey. with the ultimate finnean quest there is a functional Rod of God you will acquire, but that is kinda late game and shouldn't be part o' your build calculus. 'course is possible to do similar with ember, but nenio has access to haste, so... is mostly a function o' casters being casters in pathfinder. gets tougher for melee and ranged combatants to hit boss level characters as you level, but casters always has a way to heap on damage via touch attacks or spells which do at least half damage even on a save. the following is not directed at achilles. for people interpreting a diplomatic non-response from owlcat so it matches their expectations... warning: a smidge sweary am s'posing owlcat coulda' told you straight up that you're _______. but hey, maybe they do something complete different than the offerings which has been successful. HA! Good Fun!
  6. am not begrudging owlcat that kinda motivation pre release. try and find ways to motivate players to experience what the developers spent so much effort creating? sure. reasonable. pre release, owlcat drones no doubt assumed that if you played enigma you would enjoy it, 'cause is unlikely owlcat meant for it to be a soul-numbing slog designed to rob you o' the will to play wotr for another minute much less endure the hours o' repetitive punishment needed to complete enigma. however, post release efforts to make unpalatable content more essential is... petty. is not as if there is a bunch o' threads at owlcat where folks dedicate sonnets to the genius o' enigma. contrary. you didn't like enigma, well guess what? you shoulda' kept your gob shut 'cause now it is essential material and there will be a real in-game cost to avoiding its completion. suckers. doesn't make sense to us. HA! Good Fun!
  7. after our first beta run, when woljif abandoned us, we never forgave him. later we hugged it out and we told him, "it's all good," but deep down we never got over the betrayal. not spellcasting but trickery were the issue-- only camellia had requisite trickery. his absence forced camellia 'pon us for lost chapel. *shudder* henceforth, woljif has always been a reserve contributor. that said, am gonna observe by midway through the game nenio were the most dependable boss battle damage dealer for our angel run other than our inquisitor archer. we went vivisectionist/arcane trickster/scroll savant 1/4/15. hardly an optimal build. even so, is no shortage o' gear which provides touch attack bonuses, so nenio makes for a respectable blaster. is also a few items which amplify sonic damage, including a crusade relic in act three which has ear-piercing scream do 1/2 caster level d6 damage. the arcane trickster route for nenio also made so we had dependable trickery skills, so we didn't need woljiff or camellia for such, and we would rather gargle broken glass than keep camellia 'round. lose woljif hurt us the first time, but only the first time. nenio made it ez to forget 'bout woljif... though am suspecting her companion quest is gonna make infamous internet lists for years to come. almost makes us wonder if those russian guys who always seems to make the game puzzle solving youtube sites is friends with owlcat developers. owlcat creates enigma just to boost viewer traffic for a few o' their pals? am at a loss to think o' a good reason for adding such a tedious and repetitive game area, but to make it increasing vital and important is genuine baffling. HA! Good Fun!
  8. our quandary is both azata and aeon is kinda borked. the azata sooperpowers which we would choose is not working as designed (life-bonding friendship, beneficial magic) and the two mythic spells which set azata apart is impotent, so... aivu is kinda nifty, but not enough if everything else am looking at is broken. HA! Good Fun!
  9. p00p. that is so wrong. have not used any kinda mod thus far but am suspecting we will resort to cheating in the requisite quest items(s). as an aside, we finished the quest and sold l00t. now we got 5 million duckets and nothing 'pon which to spend. HA! Good Fun!
  10. the last three years for us is illustrative o' the income disparity problem in the US. retired, sitting on our arse and doing nothing save watch high conservative ira growth, have made enough money in that span alone for most people to retire. as such crypto makes no sense for us. am nevertheless concerned 'bout the next decade. am not far removed from considering a smaug portfolio dedicated to building and hoarding a big pile o' gold. HA! Good Fun!
  11. am a big fan o' inquisitors, but we chose the community domain for our zen archer/sacred huntsmaster/demonslayer, and guarded hearth effective negates the benefits judgements during the all-important boss battles as sacred bonuses don't stack. with a high wisdom, guarded hearth is providing us with bonuses to everything we would use for judgements, and then some. were annoying we couldn't take a level of demonslayer until after we reached level 15 as an inquisitor, 'cause the demonslayer favoured enemy bonuses stack with sacred hunstmaster but also prevent subsequent inquisitor advancement o' any demon favoured enemy. odd. so with sacred huntsmaster and demonslayer we get +4 'gainst two categories o' demons and +8 'gainst one. unlike the sacred bonuses, the favoured enemy benefits stack with everything. as we went the zen archer route. we didn't need any dex at all save we wanted the seize the moment teamwork feat, which worked out fine 'cause as am wisdom focused 'stead o' dex, the penalties from righteous might is a non factor and the silly one level o' ranger lets us use hurricane bow as well. oh, and we went all chips in on initiative taking the basic feat and the mythic, which means am near always acting first in every battle. is not an oracle or cleric build, but is nevertheless an effective angel. regardless, am kinda wanting to do an aeon judge inquisitor. might even go the crossbow route. HA! Good Fun! ps after a few more hours, am final at the central puzzle in enigma, which am gonna do tomorrow... maybe. never again. am done with nenio following this.
  12. the numerian blade is curious. provides a chance to select an enhancement bonus you likely has already achieved via a belt or helm or whatever. on the other hand, a few o' the saving throw bonuses provided by the sword become increasing useful as you get deeper in the game and there is fewer ways to stack additional bonuses to saves needed to overcome jaw-dropping dcs. the meta knowledge aspect of weapons is one o' the things which annoy us 'bout pathfinder crpgs. as an example, we were gonna make a crossbow wielding archer who takes levels in sohei to get the extra attacks and then use the curious implementation o' mythic finesse to allow dex modifiers to be applied to weapons such as crossbows. crossbows have a greater crit threat range than long or shortbows, so w/o the strength aspect holding one back, crossbows are a reasonable alternative for an archer. original the plan were to go with heavy crossbows, 'cause, duh-- heavy crossbows do more damage. the thing is, there is better light crosbows in the game, and possible the best heavy crossbows don't actual function as designed. so, on a future wotr run, if we create our crossbow archer, it will be to take advantage o' light crossbows. there is objective good weapon choices in wotr, and as pathfinder rules makes advantageous to specialize in a single weapon, choosing the right weapon will impact the efficacy o' your character. meta silliness. as an aside not directed at shady, while am one o' the persons most frequent identifying annoying wotr bugs in this thread, am gonna recognize the number of quest breaking bugs is current lower than we expected, and is relative few genuine game breakers at this point. relative few. if you had the game breakers which were more common at release in september, am sympathizing, but is better than we expected given the trends from the beta. am gonna suggest for many players the game is playable in its current state, but it will remain individual frustrating as respec is still wonky and it is extreme ez to choose a feat, spell, power or whatever and then find out some hours removed that your level-up choice does not provide the results advertised. am also not sure how much benefit one gets from waiting past the next couple months for increased stability as owlcat is gonna shift effort to dlc which will create new bugs. kingmaker trajectory for stability does not provide confidence a year-long wait is gonna fix anywhere near all major bugs, and what an individual considers an essential bug will depend on their build choices or party configuration. HA! Good Fun!
  13. am pretty sure we got our master of maneuver three via a quest. HA! Good Fun!
  14. aside: be aware magic weapons/armour/items s'posed in the game based 'pon guides or attainable through game file explorations is extreme misleading. not including finnean, the "best" greatsword actual in the game through 90% of act 5 content is probable the +3 holy weapon available from a vendor in act 3. is one reason we were annoyed by the loss o' the skeletal merchant, 'cause at least his hunter inventory included a couple very nice weapons, barding and enhancement items we viewed but failed to purchase during a singular meeting. were a +5 speed longbow which added half mobility skill level to damage we initial did not purchase and regretted when we did not get a second attempt. HA! Good Fun!
  15. the american river is fed directly by folsom lake and is controlled by dams. HA! Good Fun!
  16. the thing is, the spells which do not work for azata were kinda altering the way we anticipated building our party. second breath and heroes never surrender is azata spells which, among other things, refund spells and class abilities to companions. a single spell which purges fatigue, exhaustion, negative levels and refunds all class ability uses and spell slots 7th level and less is indeed mythic, save for fact it don't do anything save purge fatigue, exhaustion and negative levels. is not a new bug either. ... as for our angel run which has been paused, starting tomorrow am gonna dedicate an hour each day to finishing nenio's quest, which means we should be done by halloween, which is only a slight exaggeration. oh, and another tb combat quirk is rift o' ruin and other pit spells do not respect tb mode. damage and need to make saves is happening in rt while you are watching a screen full o' mooks lurch 'cross the screen in tb mode. can't move seelah outta the range o' the rift 'til is her turn? need make same reflex save near a dozen times before is her turn 'cause she is literal unable to move from the rift opening? is a particular frequent recurring foe when doing nenio's quest which spams rift o' ruin, so is an especial annoying bug as you need make a high athletics check to escape the rift and most o' our companions is not equipped to make such checks. HA! Good Fun! ps minor additional bug is the skeletal merchant showed up for us one time in act five, and we were kinda planning on emptying his stock o' high-end items given we got ~3million duckets and nothing 'pon which to spend 'em. coulda invested in army recruitment but such ended up being a waste as we literal wiped out the endgame army before any o' our crusade units had even a chance to act-- our general cast blade of the inheritor, which wiped out entire back row o' the enemy, followed by a single bolt o' justice (twincast ability) to mop up the lone remaining unit.
  17. we were on board... until the 2:20 mark, at which point it took us a moment to realize she were being serious. if all australians is equal naïve and gullible, is no wonder they got bamboozled by the french and now the US on their sub deal. HA! Good Fun!
  18. its less of a problem in tb. our party near invariably uses a character with maximized intimidation and a level of thug, precise to achieve similar fear effects. literal sent baphomet and deskari running multiple times, which is something less than annoying 'cause for two two rounds (the one where they runs away and the one in which they runs back) they may at most achieve a single attack, is flat-footed, has decreased saves from the fear debuff, etc. intimidation fear is also not subject to sr. fear is our friend, and we spam it. but yeah, considering am specific going with a charisma-based spell caster to take advantage of azata spells, having multiple options not work is troubling, and has been revealed in this thread the sooper power am most interested in is not working proper either, so... HA! Good Fun!
  19. our second run is either azata or aeon, but both are bugged multiple ways, so... HA! Good Fun!
  20. ... the possibility o' being able to advance and not know 'til much later such progress is irrevocably flawed is discouraging. well, forewarned is forearmed. HA! Good Fun!
  21. am applauding your husband's tactical awareness in making such a trip on a day when the high temps in the sacramento valley will be in the mid/low 70s and there is no omnipresent layer o' smoke from seasonal wildfires with which to contend. get to enjoy the kinda ideal weather/fire conditions which only exist for brief weeks in the spring and fall. HA! Good Fun!
  22. have discovered a new fix for reading gd posts. whenever he goes on one of his, "they are all bad" benders and adds, "feckless and," we just read as "honorable but," and sudden the crazy from the post disappears. we has done this issue to death though, so am just gonna do uncharacteristic and take the opportunity to recognize genuine feckless is gd's muted response to the clear abrogation o' rule of law and human decency when considering trump actions at the border, in portland and regarding january 6, in spite o' fact he manufactures outrage over biden comments to reporters. should be embarrassed. isn't. the problems biden and Congress face are enormous. perceived incompetence is kinda expected. am nevertheless not gonna argue biden's competence, but am also recognizing that when we listen to the claims from critics o' what biden shoulda' done in __________ or regarding _____________, his shortcomings don't seem near as bad as they does when viewed in a vacuum. am personal one o' the biden critics btw, but at worst he is the banal kinda incompetent we do not lose any sleep concerning. y'know how many calls we has received since biden became President from colleagues and reporters regarding questions o' whether biden were doing unconstitutional? five. has not been potential end of democracy in the US issues neither. trump were different. in spite o' being retired, during the trump Presidency we were fielding calls with disturbing frequency. anybody who suggests an equivalency 'tween trump excesses and biden thus far is, at best, indulging in space cadet levels o' hyperbolic. no surprise who would be doing such. HA! Good Fun!
  23. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1184370/view/3031477153100377383 edit: for folks who went angel and want to know details o' the 10th level spells HA! Good Fun! ps current haven't played for almost a week. got what looks like 1/3 through the enigma map, with nothing else to do for our current angel inquisitor save threshold, and am kinda unable to summon the will to press forward with nenio's quest. on the positive side o' the ledger, a recent patch quiet fixed the inability to use ranged weapons in tb mounted combat, which means our lann build now works as designed. huzzah.
  24. quick clarifications, 'cause oversimplify is gonna lead to confusion. 1) priests have a duty to God, but not to you. 2) no contract will protect your illegal private communications and activities. if a priest wants to sell your private info or share such with the cops, he is free to do so from a legal pov. government can't compel the priest to share, but you cannot demand the government prevent the priest from divulging private. if law enforcement wants information as part o' a criminal investigation and they got a warrant or legal right to such info, no contract will work to prevent a person from sharing such info. HA! Good Fun!
  25. observation not directed @Raithe, but it nevertheless concerns us that notions o' what is private is varied and often complete wrong. people use "privacy" and pretend it means same for everybody else. what you or bob or mary thinks is private communications or activities, chances are other folks will see different, and most assured does law see different. most simplest guide is that if you share a conversation with anybody other than your priest, doctor or lawyer, you in all likelihood no longer got an expectation o' privacy... and for the doctor the info need be medical relevant. even your spouse don't count 'cause he/she ain't bound to keep confidential but the spouse has the option to keep private. if you conduct an activity in your own home, and with curtains/blinds drawn closed, and nobody save your lawyer is present, then is likely private, unless you is being extreme loud or in other limited circumstances. share info with a faceless vendor is not gonna be deemed private unless you make it so via a contract. share info, even if you thinks you is doing so "anonymous," with your online besties is not private and is little different from a legal standpoint as is going to a public park with a bullhorn and sharing such info with passersby. is gonna be confusing for some 'cause is true people is afforded a reasonable expectation o' privacy from government intrusions, but the problem is once you share your privates with others, those others do not need keep private, and anybody who mighta' overheard or seen not need keep private. all too often people believe privacy applies to any and all embarrassing stuff we don't want anybody else to know 'bout that we nevertheless routinely share with strangers. HA! Good Fun!
