  1. well, this is the crux o' it. most adult americans claim to own stock. also, even though is increasing unlikely, most americans believe they is gonna own a home. 64% of americans do in fact own homes, but that number ignores signifficant discrepancies based on race where generational wealth has been one o' those aspects o' systemic US racism too many like to ignore. some o' the champions o' tax the rich might be singing a different tune if the plan were to erase homeownership and then redistribute to achieve parity based on income & race. and young people indeed cannot afford to buy a home these days, unless they get help... Where Do People Get Money to Buy California Homes These Days? Often, From Mom and Dad another aspect o' a long history o' systemic racism and the resulting generational wealth disparity. but again, 'cause is ez to miss forest for trees, all these proposed tax schemes is directed at billionaires or multimillionaires. for home ownership and property taxes, there is always a cap-- even if the value o' your home explodes, your max property tax is gonna be not considerable higher than what you is likely current paying. what is being suggested for billionaires is most assured not like your property tax assessment (though dp analogy makes sound similar) nor should it be. billionaires is prospective having their disposable wealth being taxed, whereas a yearly tax on your personal residence is in fact, in the case o' most americans, a tax on the bulk of their retirement plan. is no way the two situations should be analogous. similar, 401 k and iras held by people (most people) not named musk should indeed be taxed different than the proposed billionaire tax. ... as an aside, is in fact way too many people buying houses they cannot afford. is a 2007 problem which is repeating. housing inventory is too small, particular in places where people wanna buy, but banks is willing to make loans to people who cannot afford to pay. obvious this is gonna reach a point o' collapse, yes? am not sure why the three wise monkey approach is being adopted by near everybody who could possible do something 'bout the problem. HA! Good Fun!
  2. it also ain't nearly as ez as it sounds. property tax is usual based on crude county formulas which either approximate market value or some other value which is then used to form the basis o' the tax. is not as if a property assessor comes out to each homeowner's residence on a yearly basis. and keep in mind that billionaire estates is not the kinda thing which shows up on zillow. is rare gonna be comparable property sales to make the value o' mega mansions and included sprawling properties capable o' ez assessment. https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/trumps-seventy-three-million-dollar-tax-refund-is-the-biggest-outrage-of-all trump audit has taken more than a decade. why? is in part 'cause is complicated trying to figure out what somebody like trump actually owns and what is the worth o' such assets. am s'posing difficulty in quantifying values is why the proposed billionaire tax is only applicable to marketable assets with known values, which brings us back to our concerns 'bout the problems o' implementation. if only the billionaire's personal and marketable assets is subject to the tax, then am suspecting there will sudden be fewer billionaires (at least on paper) and the remaining billionaires is gonna be less reliant on the public traded stuff which is subject to the tax. maybe there is solutions to such concerns, but if there is we ain't seen such. keep in mind (not specific directed @Achilles)this is not a new idea. tax the rich is one o' those catchy three word slogans which is gonna appeal to the majority who ain't rich. how to best tax the rich w/o hurting the not rich has always been the hurdle. why is there so much resistance on both sides of the aisle to raising the corporate tax rate, which were part o' the biden plan mere weeks past? well, most corporations is actual small, and even those which is rich and or multinational is gonna reasonable pass along their increased cost o' doing business (the tax) to consumers. all too often, tax the rich functional becomes a tax on the poor. btw, am actual in favor o' biden's proposed capital gains increase which he announced before a joint session o' Congress earlier this year. the thing is, am believing the earlier proposed plan doesn't quite cover the cost o' even the currently slimmed-down infrastructure proposal. HA! Good Fun!
  3. am perhaps giving trump too much credit, but recognition o' your observation could be the ultimate driver behind the truth platform. tell the faithful that the mastodon license precludes the existence o' the truth platform is not gonna stop investors. the fact trump is promoting this means many people is gonna believe it has value, in spite o' any evidence to the contrary. the trump organization doesn't care if truth ever comes to fruition. elizabeth holmes may go to prison. trump's organization will make millions. HA! Good Fun!
  4. there is a capital gains carve out for personal residence. lord knows nothing 'bout the proposed billionaire capital gains adjustment is gonna change such. our imagination is capable o' taking reality into account when confronted with hobgoblins and boogeymen. the biggest issue we see is implementation as 'posed weird notions o' fairness. am predicting billionaires is gonna send more o' their assets to their own foundations to avoid thresholds. many billionaires could quite easily not be billionaires on paper practically overnight. think o' it as akin to the recent meta rebranding, or when johnson and johnson created a subsidary to take the fall for their cancer causing baby powder, or whatever it were. billionaires will still have a billion dollars, but some signifficant portion o' their wealth will be held as trust or foundation assets. does make a difference if the home is owned by richie rich or instead by the OMEGA foundation which is run for the benefit o' richie rich? and yes, there is gonna be a smaug issue where billionaires make their assets not subject to the tax by investing in less marketable assets which are not subject to the tax. a picasso would not be taxable, but millions o' dollars in traditional stock would be. literal buy not gold stock, but a big pile o' gold, and the billionaire avoids tax issues? HA! Good Fun!
  5. Donald Trump’s latest business venture, Truth Social, is a brand-new social media platform that is going to be a publicly-traded company via a reverse merger with a SPAC. Consequently, it sits at the intersection between finance, law, and technology. When you combine Trump’s legendary financial acumen—he has only six bankruptcies on his record—with his uncanny eye for legal talent like Rudy Giuliani and tech wizards like Brad Parscale, what could possibly go wrong? HA! Good Fun!
  6. probably isn't immediate recognizable, but the tables in the prison lunchroom is immovable. more obvious is all the windows in the multipurpose room o' the school. the thing is, the stuff being shown is gonna look similar for church retreats and youth camps too 'cause there is efficient ways to achieve goals and until somebody invents a better mousetrap, you is gonna see a replication o' means. cafeteria style lunches is gonna be an efficient way to feed a large group o' people. buses is an efficient way to transport large numbers o' people. side note, am never seeing the old skool buses being used for prison transport in ca these days. gonna bet those beasts is expensive and the contract to modify such is lucrative. HA! Good Fun! ps one o' the more amusing quirks o' corrections facilities is food allergies. residents self-report food allergies and is always the folks who believe they has gamed the system by choosing the right food allergies to get the best meals possible. various pasta w/tomato sauce entrees is not popular, so is many residents who claim to be allergic to tomatoes. have eaten the meals the residents get and most o' it is good, but am admitting the meat & tomato sauce accompanying pasta were kinda terribad. unfortunate for the folks gaming the system, maybe once a month or so, there were a food item on the menu near everybody loved-- the mcrib sandwich. 'course it weren't mcdonalds, but if you had the mcdonalds version and the corrections version side-by-side, chances are the superior version would be the corrections offering. double-whammy for the gamers: pork; tomato. the barbecue sauce were tomato based. converse, am recalling a guy who were listed as being allergic to strawberries. in addition to meals, these guys would get snacks... brand name stuff as often as not. cheeze-its were common, and messy. pop-tarts were also a frequent provided snack, and there is a strawberry variety o' poptarts which, go figure, actual has enough real strawberries in it to send a guy with a strawberry allergy into anaphylactic shock. so you got staff not recognizing the food allergy and a resident who is quite literal insane and suicidal, and next thing you know the paramedics is showing up to rush the loon to a hospital and the negligent staff is all but certain he is gonna be fired.
  7. gd loves tobogganing (it's a thing people in wisconsin do for fun) down the slippery slope. every argument is based on the NO Compromise philosophy. why can't we have meaningful gun control legislation such as were the norm in the US until the mid 1900s? 'cause if you give in to them and allow 'em to limit your gun rights, then next thing you know, they will be breaking down your door to take your perfect legit weapons. you can't trust them, not with guns or taxes or government condemnations. there is only one gd post regarding the government. sure, he dresses it up different each time, but is always a defense for no compromise 'cause they are inherent untrustworthy and flawed. HA! Good Fun!
  8. am not sure why sacramento valley tv news stations bother to pay for a weather personality from mid-june through late september. how many ways is there to describe a hot and dry forecast? having lived in the dakotas, chicago, western ny and a couple other places with crazy weather, one might expect we would be thankful for the predictability o' central ca weather, but you would be wrong. summers are long, hot and in recent years the wildfires have affected air quality to a degree such that outdoor activities is literal unhealthy/hazardous for months. mercurial is underrated if the alternative is monotonous horrible. sacramento, ca summers and williston, nd winters has been the worst kinda monotonous we has experienced... and am thanking the good lord we only had to spend two winters in williston. not as much snow as you might imagine in williston. arid. have also been in places colder than williston, hard as that may be to imagine, but the wind... am literal recalling weeks o' -70F temperatures when adjusted for wind-chill. HA! Good Fun!
  9. meta, among other aspects, is that which exists above and beyond. "cleverly self-referential." bruce, at best they validated assumption that what zuckerberg wants from you is your metadata. you have nothing to fear from the meta, not because fb is harmless but precisely because you are an individual. insignificant. trivial. maybe you have seen meta compared to the borg. silliness. the borg is interested in that which makes you unique and wants to assimilate you. in your vanity you believe you have something worthy of assimilation. meta doesn't care about you personally or anything which makes you unique-- those qualities and attributes which set you apart are rounding errors. only the algorithm matters. so do not fear the meta, because as an individual you are beneath its notice. hell, they went so far as to choose a version o' ouroboros as their new logo? takes some hutzpah to pair meta name with ouroboros and try and sell a kinder and gentler fb. perhaps zuckerberg gets a limited mass effect license to use one o' the original game characters as a corporate mascot? would be an ideal fit. ... am mostly joking. mostly. HA! Good Fun!
  10. given how many broken features is in the game, am not feeling guilty over indulging a bit o' cheese to circumvent such such problems. two quick observations: 1) when our tb got busted and a switch to rt did not fix, we typical needed to complete exit the game to get back our tb functionality. 2) when you reload from your alt+b save, initiative will be reordered, as if combat had started anew... which is where some serious cheese may occur. our first angel character were a high wisdom inquisitor who took improved initiative and mythic initiative feats-- we always were able to act first in a tb combat round. hadn't actual considered this previous, but IF we wanted to cheese a boss battle, we coulda' taken our action with our archer inquisitor, used alt+b to create a save, then reload. by reloading initiative would be reordered, and we would no doubt get to act first... again. could easily have done a rinse-and-repeat with the bosses literal never getting a chance to take an action during combat. HA! Good Fun!
  11. the workaround does work in many (not all) situations. the switch to rt need only be for an instant, during which time gameplay is auto-paused. re-establishing turn-base has a high percentage o' clearing the problem, and does not mess with battlefield control as even after the momentary switch to rt, all battle participants keep their initiative order. however, am gonna suggest that if the switch to rt does not fix the issue, then is a good idea to use the alt+b bug reporting feature to create a save during combat, 'cause you may need do a reload to regain tb functionality. 'course crusade battles getting borked is not salvageable using the aforementioned option. is in fact a whole lotta features still busted which do not have fixes, and predictably, a few fixes has made broken stuff more busted. HA! Good Fun!
  12. meta? nothing at all sinister 'bout that. why not just go all in and call it, OMEGA? HA! Good Fun!
  13. no... depending on what you mean. no skald gets kenning, which is a big deal. the other stuff which didn't work, still doesn't work. in fact, the ability to take rage powers has been removed, so the question regarding the capacity to share such with party members is now m00t. a slight buff to spell damage has been added to replace the removed stances. the one thing the court poet does do which is not capable o' replication is its ability to pump party member intelligence and charisma scores and ignore any kinda stacking limits. if you got a party which is heavy with paladins and intelligence or charisma-based casters, the court poet is still a good choice, but is in not working as one would expect based on the original descriptions. HA! Good Fun!
  14. the thing is, am suspecting if an author wrote a shadowrun story which focused on a school in the setting, following multiple students post matriculation, the institution in question would not be based on front range community college. HA! Good Fun!
  15. we got no problem with egalitarian magic, accessible to the plebs, but am thinking the author o' the article doesn't know her audience. even in pnp a computer rpgs where it is reasonable to have magic be balanced with sword havers and other users o' mundane tools, is common to see players complain if magic is not special enuff. so what we get in fantasy lit is the traditional school o' magic, which appears to be based exeter or similar real world prep schools or colleges, but the protagonist is frequent a character straight outta a horatio alger tale. even if the protagonist is special and maybe even marked before birth by prophecy, she had to work twice as hard to get into the magic school and once there she is constant needing overcome the prejudices o' her classmates and even her teachers-- through moxie and perhaps a bit o' luck, she overcomes all odds and obstacles. *groan* am not happy with such fare, but is understandable how we get to such a place, 'cause is the audiences who want magic to be special. HA! Good Fun!
  16. your approach doesn't work with bar exam questions. actual, your approach hurts your chances. bar exam graders get paid per question graded. quixotic, in-depth analysis is hurting your efforts to pass the bar exam. as an examinee, the goal is to make important points as clear and easy to spot for the grader as is possible. concise. to-the-point. 'course is worth noting that the passage rate for ca bar exam feb 2020 hit a horrific low o' ~28%, so ca responded by dropping the score needed to pass. serious. were a yearly trend o' worsening rates o' passage and ca finally gave up and made test passage easier. HA! Good Fun!
  17. am disturbed by needing to admit we has seen this question come up many times. am not joking. there were a pathfinder query on their boards involving a lich shapechanged into a gorilla then mating with a gorilla and the fate o' the progeny. ... wtf is wrong with people? is some question as to polymorph as the baleful polymorph spell involves a fort save and undead is immune to spells involving fort saves. as such has been suggested that regardless o' save, polymorph may not be sufficient to alter the undead type. however, consensus we observed is shapechange achieves the desired result. am honest not sure what is the official word from paizo or whether or not the pathfinder developers provided a definitive answer. shape changed into a gorilla? can't have expected us to read any further, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  18. image reminds us o' important advice for gd if he ever wants to fit in with the wisconsin locals: learn nuances o' and pretend to enjoy the perverse leisure activity known as ice fishing. is a special kinda stoopid required to ice fish for fun. HA! Good Fun!
  19. brian tyler reported spent less than a full month working on the children of dune soundtrack and have heard portions o' his music from the miniseries used in subsequent video games, tv shows and even hollywood films. HA! Good Fun!
  20. maybe watch the syfy dune miniseries, and children of dune miniseries? warnings: costumes in the syfy dune miniseries were curiously cheap and cheesy. if you haven't seen, am not able to accurate describe the level o' bad. alec newman were trying to act young in dune, which were a mistake. we thought newman were a horrible actor, but then we saw children of dune and realized he were at least competent. whether it were director's fault or actor's prerogative regarding how to portray the s'posed fifteen year-old and small for his age paul, the syfy dune version o' muad'dib were distracting at times. not as distracting as costumes, but close. william hurt phoned in his portrayal as duke leto. for any leto scene a cardboard cutout o' jürgen prochnow from dune (1984) coulda' been inserted into the film with some random male vo actor reading the duke's lines and woulda' been better than william hurt pretending to contribute to the project. as an aside, am not a fan o' dune messiah or children of dune books. understatement. nevertheless, the children of dune miniseries, other than the end which were terrible 'cause o' frank herbert and were no way to fix if remaining faithful to source material were a goal, was excellent and entertaining... and the costumes were much improved if hardly hollywood movie quality. HA! Good Fun!
  21. ah, am recalling the salad days, back when gd didn't "worry much about the weather." that was like, two weeks ago, yes? you may wanna ignore the weather, but the weather won't ignore you. come late november or early december, no doubt gd will chivalrous offer to dig out his companion's driveway after overnight snow drops a couple feet o' nice wet and heavy accumulation. the first time you need do such, it may even seem fun. maybe consider an early christmas present... for her of course. south-west wisconsin has some beautiful hill country and even a few nice ski resorts. not exactly pittsburgh, but hills is hills. first time you hit black ice and you watch helpless as the back end o' your car/truck is sudden leading the way down a hill or 'round a turn won't worry gd none. ... and its only october, not even halloween. wait for valentine's day. might wanna suggest meeting halfway in the future. sedona is halfway 'tween tennessee and wisconsin, yes? just need fold the map exact right. HA! Good Fun!
  22. am suspecting the new dune could be frustrating for folks who don't know dune. example: the genuine importance o' spice is never explained save for extreme brief and off-hand comments. doesn't matter to those o' us who has read dune and likely seen every previous movie and tv version, but the pivotal importance o' spice and arakis is kinda assumed to be understood by the audience. also, the movie end does suck 'cause while the directors attempt to make the event at the conclusion pivotal to paul's development, it nevertheless feels forced and kinda pointless. a few o' the performances were excellent. visually the movie were appealing. *shrug* at 2.5 hours long there were predictable pacing issues. overall we enjoyed the movie. HA! Good Fun!
  23. by the same token, if a young and pregnant woman gets in a car accident 'cause she were speeding, how often does the da seek to prosecute her for manslaughter if she miscarries due to the resulting accident? take medication but not according to prescription is illegal. so a woman takes two vicodin post root canal instead o' one as directed. do you expect manslaughter prosecution if the expectant mother miscarries? is not a hard and obvious line, and if is being applied selective, then one needs question why some illegal behaviors resulting in loss o' pregnancy is prosecuted and others is not. HA! Good Fun!
  24. can't make our self take camellia beyond act i and some limited act ii content, so our favoured strategy for playful darkness involves pillars of life, a sooper intimidator and prayer-- not the spell but actual prayer 'cause a couple bad rolls results in a needed reload. with the aforementioned prayer you may also get lucky on a couple mass heal scroll uses, but those is kinda an expensive option. is possible to build seelah and/or sosiel into achieving near overwhelming intimidator status. a player character or merc inquisitor or dirge bard is gonna be best options, but understandably not many folks feel comfortable creating a fromage-based intimidator for their main. regardless, pc or companion, need sacrifice one level to get thug, but is worth it to see playful darkness scamper away when it fails the spamable intimidation checks which is not subject to sr and is not actual a will save, which is part o' the reason why the bugged vavakia vandguards you will encounter later in the game is so devastating. and keep in mind the intimidation tactic works 'gainst every demon lord as well. recommendation: use moss pottage camp meal for the stack-with-everything skill boost 'cause every point counts. why pillars of life? no save. no sr. can cast 'em pre combat and may cast multiple iterations in the exact same location. am s'posing you may plan ahead and have sosiel prepare pillars scrolls and then have nenio cast 'em... and unless has been fixed, part o' the beauty o' intimidation resulting in fear is that unlike party members, each time playful runs through stacked pillars of life, he/she/it takes damage anew. might wanna check and see how many is purchasable from the cleric in drezen and possible at the temple of the good hunt. pillars not maximized or empowered do 10d8 damage... each. even if has been fixed and you don't get the repeat damage, play in tb means each time playful runs away and then returns, it gets at most a single attack. not a you-win button option, but is another workable approach which am having personal used core and hard and it has the advantage o' not depending on camellia. HA! Good Fun! ps just checked and arsinoe does not sell pillars of life scrolls, so unless you bring sosiel or have a priest main, you need craft scrolls to make this tactic work.
  25. neil cavuto endorses vaccinations during a fox segment. the story is not why we link. please read the comments from fox regulars posting in response to the story. a significant % o' the US population has been inoculated 'gainst facts. the problem is not limited to covid neither. HA! Good Fun!
