  1. poorly. HA! Good Fun!
  2. It depends, experiences vary on an indiviudal basis. Naturally. I would assume taught in spain for the most part... far less in england. spent considerable time in poland, russia and france. didn't stay too long in germany. seeing so many young nazis in germany made our skin crawl, which is too bad as one o' our bestest friends is a medical doctor from germany. while we is most frequent in japan for our asian trips, we has been to many asian nations, and has spent months at a time in the philippines, south korea, taiwan and singapore. we do admit to avoiding the islamic nations o' asia as our particular area o' expertise does not get us many invites to such places... which is telling in and of itself. been to australia only once, and never made it to south america, which is a shame. *shrug* somebody makes lotta assumptions... and your own silly patriotism had you making assumptions (false) about free speech in europe and austria v. the USA just a short time ago. one would hope that you would learn from such errors. HA! Good Fun! ps we didn't bother to mention touristy stays in nations that lasted less than a month... if we did, it would be easier to name the euro and asian nations we ain't been to. You thaught, so you are teacher i guess. stopped there... 'cause you AGAIN fail your assumption check. sheesh. HA! Good Fun!

  4. there is discussions on that matter in the article body as well as the feedback that follows. is non-classified and it is simulation, so one should take with a grain o' salt. even so, given the limits o' such things, the simulator in question appears less subject to bias than most and clear more advanced than harpoon. HA! Good Fun!
  5. as soon as the nato allies develop long-range rust detection, the russian air and sea power threats evaporate. HA! Good Fun!
  6. our opinion o' the USA went up substantial after spending near 2 years in europe. we were educated at one o' the more liberal-minded universities in the US where we were taught that the State were evil and incompetent. 'course our first thirteen years (and summers thereafter) living in a place that makes gaza look like a vacation destination did not provide us with a particular positive opinion o' the US either. is a quote from danny elfman that resonates with us. yeah, danny elfman, the composer and former front-man o' oingo boingo. go figure. the musician spent years abroad touring europe and africa and while his background and Gromnir's is worlds apart, we appear to have had similar revelations. "I'm not a doomist. My attitude is always to be critical of what's around you, but not ever to forget how lucky we are. I've traveled around the world. I left thinking I was a revolutionary. I came back real right-wing patriotic. Since then, I've kind of mellowed in between. It affected me permanently and totally." we studied/taught abroad in europe, and we make yearly trips to asia (mostly japan.) am suspecting that if we had never left the US for extended periods o' time, we would still be a "revolutionary." HA! Good Fun!
  7. for this kinda poll, we didn't read "liked" as meaning that we would wanna spend the afternoon at a ballgame with the character in question. preference as 'posed to agreeable? the presence o' most o' the joinable npcs improved our game experience. a select few joinables actual detracted from our game enjoyment. those joinables that enhanced, we liked. those joinables that detracted... *shrug* no wrong answers we s'pose. HA! Good Fun!
  8. custer's first stand. five cents. no injuns. *chuckle* am admitting we had difficulty getting past the 5 minute mark for the most ridiculous reason: the rattling o' that bead necklace on the blonde woman were driving us nuts. have her mic immediate adjacent to the necklace were intentional funny or accidental annoying. regardless, our ocd forced us to stop watching. HA! Good Fun!
  9. priest is also useful for putting down a searing seal and repulsing seal before a battle begins... and then use a shining beacon. two or more priests makes the battle relative easy, but most folks don't have multiple priests. even so, searing seal has a large aoe size and as it uses hazard accuracy, it has a high chance o' blinding all, or nearly all, o' your foes. first spell at start o' combat for priest is likely the will boosting holy meditation for your entire party, followed by a painful interdiction. have a mage cast miasma of dull mindedness to reduce will. miasma and painful interdiction results in your will spells hit and crit rather than graze and miss. it is costly, but we tend to use amplified wave at the start o' most battles... 'cause. even if it grazes, your opponents is prone for a few seconds, and the aoe size is enormous. do you hoard scrolls o' paralysis? we do. a high accuracy character with enough lore to use a scroll o' paralysis is likely needing nerfing, but for now, you can use such to your advantage by using one o' those scrolls immediate at the start o' combat. sure, it makes more sense to wait until will saves are reduced, but the scrolls o' paralysis appear to have a quick activation time so you can get off a mass paralysis before any undead charm spams is unleashed. a borderline cheese tactic requires some careful equipment checks. IF you can manage to make your mage the member o' your party with the weakest will save, then the undead will try to spam him/her with their initial charm attacks. 4th level mage spell, minor arcane reflection, will send the charms back to sender. depending on how much o' a min-max kinda guy you are, reducing your mage will far enough could be a challenge. *shrug* multiple priests is still best bet to make easier w/o cheese... although priests do have longer casting times, and the undead don't offer much time, do they? HA! Good Fun!
  10. so, while the advice were unnecessary in the given context, your post were meant to be helpful in future instances? we could see that, y'know, if you had shown the guy how to use the spoiler tag and if you had been, y'know, helpful as 'posed to snarky. [spo!ler] text that offends luck's delicate sensibilities [/spo!ler] replace "!" with "i" perhaps dreamrider actual already knows how to use such, but y'know, at least you would be helpful rather than a just a guy who don't know logic fallacies or how to read dictionary definitions. as an aside, second chance appears (appeared? haven't tried in recent patches and every time the game is patched, things... change.) to be limited to one per encounter as we did not see a stacking result with durance donning both saint's war scale and an additional second chance item. HA! Good Fun!
  11. watched conan again. is our favorite fantasy movie, though raiders of the lost ark and the empire strikes back are not far behind. regardless, whenever we get the prayer to crom scene we cannot help but think o' the following scene from major league (warning: sweary) kinda messes with the moment. HA! Good Fun!
  12. to be fair, immediate after you claimed that you were making observations 'bout your local pd, you then broke out some amusing generalizations that could easily be taken as condemnations o' cops en masse. in any event, having worked at a juvenile detention facility wherein the "residents" were treated with kid gloves, we shudder to imagine the level o' masochism required to enjoy a typical adult arrest. have personal managed to avoid the indignity o' adult arrest, if only by a hair's breadth. not matter if helen o' troy were your arresting officer, chances are you is gonna wanna forget your experience asap. and we highly recommend avoiding a friday night arrest. being arrested and processed is bad enough, but the possibility o' spending a weekend in jail with real criminals should be enough to discourage stoopid behavior by ordinary and sane folks... unless you is a fsu football player. oh, and if your super-model cop is a k-9 unit officer, do not run. wanna make the arrest fun via a chase? don't. the dogs is nasty and they don't read the Constitution or newspaper articles and they don't give a damn what color is your skin. HA! Good Fun!
  13. considering that this portion o' the board itself has a hard-to-miss spoiler warning, we wouldn't get our panties in a bunch over how spoilers is actual handled. y'know? in any event, we tend to use a second chance item for our priest, particularly in difficult battles. given how low is priest endurance/health, they is one o' the classes most susceptible to wtf death situations. for an all-priest party we built a priest tank with a 20 con (edit: were 21 con. go figure) dwarf and his health and endurance were still laughable. more important, no doubt many has encountered the situation where everybody in party gets knocked out save for the tank who hits 'bout as hard as being licked by a kitten? get level 5 spells and placing second chance gear on a priest has the potential for transforming a reload into a win. regardless, our tank is least likely to die unexpected and our priests is a bit squishy, so keeping heals upright fits with our particular philosophy. eder's starting gear armour has second chance (oops, spoiler. HA!) and it offers a nice balance o' dr and recovery speed considerations given how early it is available in the game. durance or custom priests get saint's war scale almost immediate for us. as noted above, there is excellent plate armour that has second chance, though you gotta use an aggressive resolution to a dialogue to start a fight with the armour's owner... or you gotta reach level 9(?) of endless paths before you finish the critical path portion o' the game that takes you to heritage hill. regardless, the plate armour is, for Gromnir, better suited to a tank. the second chance plate also provides a +2 to lore if we recollect accurate. lore skill is, ironic, most efficacious for high accuracy characters such as fighters and monks. HA! Good Fun!
  14. best song ever about competitive chess? top three w/o a doubt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9cNtrrCP0E had an 80s moment. sue us. HA! Good Fun!
  15. white marsh is in maryland, yes? could be fun to have the game set in baltimore... though is likely too controversial at the moment. on the more serious side, implements do have extreme limited use in the hands o' a character other than a wizard. blast is gonna be a multi-class talent, but am not certain how weakened it will be. implements does strike us as a largely wasted addition to the game at this point and their class-specific nature is running contrary to general poe design principles. HA! Good Fun!
  16. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13230192/ken-stabler-former-oakland-raiders-quarterback-dies and on the stoopid side o' nfl news http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/171547/nfl-faq-jason-pierre-paul-c-j-wilson-injured-in-fireworks-accidents HA! Good Fun!
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__1YLNr2aDU is one o' the few songs we can clear recall the first time we heard it. bonham drums were like a hammer blow to the soul. presence album is still our favorite led zeppelin. HA! Good Fun!
  18. The ''Cro-Magnon'' was not responsible for the demise of the Neanderthal. Just last night I learned homo sapiens bred extensively with Neanderthals. Everyone alive today has 1-3% DNA from them. I can't help but imagine the scandalous stories rivaling the Capulets and Montagues. What did they speak, how did they communicate, what was their favorite game to play ... so fascinating. I can't believe I get to live in the future. based on the highly scientific clan of the cave bear movie, the capulet and montague interaction were handled, well, caveman style. not much dialogue or foreplay. HA! Good Fun!
  19. well, we likely know the most relevant context: location, location, location. http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2001/nov/cincinnati/011101.cincinnati.html http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/nearly-12-years-after-riots-cincinnati-race-relations-improving-but-more-progress-needed http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/local/colerain/2015/05/08/colerain-police-department-taking-proactive-approach-race-relations/26988701/ http://www.newrepublic.com/article/119133/cincinnatis-2001-race-riots-reveal-solutions-fergusons-unrest the State prosecutes crimes, not the victim. the State has reasons to be cautious in this... case. HA! Good Fun! 40 people, that goes well beyond a simple beating and that not one of them looked at themselves and realized that a mob that size could kill one person. Or I guess they didn't care, I would go further and say that they lacked simple humanity but that might assuming too much. Even though they probably do. point? *shrug* the State is gonna be as deliberative and cautious as possible, and for good reason. there has already been one victim. HA! Good Fun!

HA! Good Fun!
  23. hate speech is not a social ill that needs correction. hate is the social problem. suppress hate speech exacerbates the problem. worse, the majority has a tendency to label. that which is unpopular or offensive should be suppressed for the greater good. is extreme few folks who support the yutz who burns a koran to protest islam or dress up in white hoods to rail against miscegenation. a couple decades ago it would be hard to find folks who would support communists or gays. go back further and we find support for minorities to be equal unpopular. the only speech that needs a constitutionally protected right is speech that offends. in a democracy, free speech is a limit on The People. "Congress shall make no law..." a right to free speech that does not protect the offending speaker is... pointless. this should be axiomatic. HA! Good Fun! ps a muslim-american's defense o' hate speech http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/05/04/muslims-defend-pam-geller-s-right-to-hate.html and for those anglophiles "First, if any opinion is compelled to silence, that opinion may, for aught we can certainly know, be true. To deny this is to assume our own infallibility. "Secondly, though the silenced opinion be an error, it may, and very commonly does, contain a portion of truth; and since the general or prevailing opinion on any subject is rarely or never the whole truth, it is only by the collision of adverse opinions that the remainder of the truth has any chance of being supplied. "Thirdly, even if the received opinion be not only true, but the whole truth; unless it is suffered to be, and actually is, vigorously and earnestly contested, it will, by most of those who receive it, be held in the manner of a prejudice, with little comprehension or feeling of its rational grounds." --John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859
  24. if there is a fix, we ain't seen one. this were an issue noted in the beta by many folks. we has had the problem since day 1, although it is a relative small issue for us. given the insane number o' hours invested in the game, and as this ain't a fps or mmo, the issue kinda fades into the background for us. is similar to the weird dialogue volume issue we get. 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 dialogues will result in a weird volume increase. is annoying... particularly if our cat is sleeping on our desk at the time as it freaks. even so, such silliness has become normal to us. HA! Good Fun!
  25. as an aside, Gromnir is not claiming that the USA is or has always been perfect regarding free speech. we gave examples above, yes? http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/elia-kazan/about-elia-kazan/642/ where we screw up, where we stumble and lose our way, is when we allow fear to replace what we should know is right and just. the First Amendment is an ideal, and we so often do not live up to the ideal. we keep falling and failing. we can and should do better. HA! Good Fun!
