  1. yes. edit: you are looking for a solution in the wrong place. the crystal's aoe stun is sonic and not psionic. ordinarily pathfinder stuns is physiological and are opposed by a fort save as 'posed to a will save. HA! Good Fun!
  2. and am gonna suggest there is serious upside o' getting right to the action particular for cinematic storytelling. how many first episodes o' tv shows or openings o' movies has been ruined by torturous character intros and unnecessary exposition? we played bg3 early access and it didn't appeal to us, but we got no issue with the developers metaphorical throwing the player outta a plane w/o a parachute to get the story started. in the first minutes we don't need know who, what, where, when or why. what we do require is for the storyteller to make us want more. am a vocal advocate o' the show, don't tell school o' storytelling and in our opinion the one thing larian got right was avoiding the traditional, tedious, talky intro. unfortunate, they didn't make us want to see more o' their game. HA! Good Fun!
  3. there is a solution which don't require mods, but it kinda depends on what you want from a rogue. are you choosing rogue 'cause they get a whole lotta skills including perception and open locks/disarm traps? sneak attack? an inquisitor sanctified slayer with the animal domain gets you much o' what a rogue offers in addition to a potential mount. shadow shaman is a stacked option but unfortunate you won't be getting a mount until level sixteen. HA! Good Fun!
  4. https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/daemons/thanadaemon/ 'course owl cat gave 'em the ability to cast horrid wilting. HA! Good Fun!
  5. our grandfather listened almost exclusive to jazz and classical... but not star trek classical. our grandmother, on the other hand, were a bit more cool. . HA! Good Fun!
  6. according to pathfinder 2e rulez, only half the balor damage from its death throe is subject to fire resistance/immunity. there is some funny math involved as a few balor is not doing 16d10, but somehow their death throe is based on caster level, and as already noted in another post, owlcat decided cl = hd. as most wotr foes get kinda comical hd bloat... *shrug* the balor you need watch out for is the one who does electricity damage, 'cause again, the beastie is doing damage based on a serious inflated caster level and 1/2 the damage the sparky balor does is listed as almost irresistible divine damage. angels may choose a halo effect which allows some resistance to divine damage, but the sparky balor is gonna overwhelm even that protection. beware the sparky balor. HA! Good Fun!
  7. kinda looks like a shar-pei, but most "puppies" do. the placard is embossed pink, which +ten years ago and back as far as early 20th century would signal feminine. nowadays is bad to make such assumptions and is largely irrelevant at the moment. regardless, congrats to @ShadySands and his family on this most recent blessing. for what it is worth, you got our sincere best wishes and hopes of good health. may you and yours enjoy many years o' happiness together. HA! Good Fun!
  8. ... is only 2:38 minutes o' singing. "sneaky little hobbitses." but if you want the "bell" to drive you insane, then... and HA! Good Fun!
  9. technical the swarm doesn't become a giant spider. through agency o' the clemency of shadows ring (one o' the best crusade relics in the game btw,) a giant spider is summoned for 3 rounds whenever a party member, including summons, is rendered unconscious or dies. if you want a cheap way to create a functional impenetrable wall of summons, the monster or animal summons 1 spells will suffice 'cause when the giant spiders die or is rendered unconscious, they also trigger the clemency of shadows summon effect. as such, starting the daisy chain with the lowest level spell possible makes tactical sense. 'course clemency of shadows is most useful 'cause o' the attacks o' opportunity modifier, but the summoned spiders is kinda a hoot. HA! Good Fun!
  10. @Sarex as o' five minutes ago, having reloaded the end boss o' colyphyr mines battle with our first aeon character, improved aeon bane, aeon immunities and aeon gazes work proper. we did not test aeon spells. am not knowing what kp references by judgements for aeon as that ain't a mechanics thing but rather is quest related. inquisitors (save for a few archetypes)and a hunter archetype get judgements, so is not surprising the patch notes mentioned inquisitor judgements and not aeon judgements. the only aeon judgements in wotr is your mythic quest related pronouncements. however, the aeon character we tested is a sanctified slayer multi-class with no judgements, so we could not test inquisitor judgements, in case such is a continued matter o' concern. unrelated, studied target definite were working. warning: we will observe how many months past, owlcat altered aeon gazes. owlcat decided those who are immune to gaze attacks should also be immune to aeon gazes, which were a serious nerf. a couple wide available feats will make enemies and companions immune to aeon gaze effects. complete unrelated: the colyphyr mine boss battle involves a dispel effect. as many have no doubt noticed, effects from most abilities (is a few exceptions... 'cause?) is not dispelled by the boss' mass dispel, so domain abilities typical persist. regarding cast spells, the dispel is near total and complete. however, there is a few spells effects which is not dispelled and am suspecting is 'cause the effects is coded as abilities and/or 'cause is stuff which modifies weapons as 'posed to party members. example: crusader's edge is not dispelled. HA! Good Fun!
  11. "taco tuesday" still trademarked in new jersey... and trump was indicted... again. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/live-blog/trump-live-updates-grand-jury-2020-election-probe-arrives-courthouse-rcna96825 Trump has been charged by the Department of Justice with the following four counts: A conspiracy to defraud the United States "by using dishonesty, fraud and deceit to obstruct the nation’s process of collecting, counting, and certifying the results of the presidential election," according to the special counsel's office. A conspiracy to impede the Jan. 6 congressional proceeding at which the collected results of the presidential election are counted and certified. A conspiracy against the right to vote and to have that vote counted. Obstruction of, and attempt to obstruct and impede, the certification of the electoral vote. curious, am not seeing any news as to co-conspirators. conspiracy by definition requires more than one conspirator. (edit: six unnamed co-conspirators-- four attorneys, one doj official and one political consultant.) HA! Good Fun!
  12. the one genuine surprise for owlcat's camellia arc is it manages to be considerable worse in act 5. HA! Good Fun!
  13. 'cause am old james jamerson bass and wilton felder, one o' the greatest motown sax players, on bass. HA! Good Fun!
  14. gonna observe blaster always seemed like a good option from our pov and there has been improvements with patches. example: irresistible divine damage took some time to implement correct. the hd increases is underappreciated. is doubtful kp reads, but is also worth noting a merged spellbook angel or lich keeps the merged spellbook when going the gold dragon route, albeit w/o the inflated caster level, which as already noted in the linked post is not that big o' a sacrifice for a blaster. 'course the downside, much like with legend, is the lateness the gold dragon is available plus our only dedicated blaster character thus far were an azata and it felt wrong to kick aivu and the rest o' the lollipop guild to the curb for a little more power which 'course is kinda unnecessary late game. the difficult content in the game is early, so being a smidge more powerful for the last 10% is kinda underwhelming. still haven't done our anticipated lich-> gold dragon even though it is one o' the few remaining builds am curious 'bout. @Sarex the water elemental is beatable even on unfair w/o numerous reloads, but doing so requires exploitive gameplay HA! Good Fun!
  15. edit: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.flsd.648652/gov.uscourts.flsd.648652.85.0_2.pdf pp 27-31 is worth your time. HA! Good Fun!
  16. have mentioned previous how we use the microwave instead o' parboiling taters for home fries, and we also use microwaves to speed up baking of russets or sweet potatoes. ... am gonna admit we learned how am having been using the microwave to soften butter all wrong. old dog. new tricks. HA! Good Fun!
  17. "Former library spaces at some schools will be converted into rooms where students who misbehave will be relocated to watch lessons virtually, work alone, or in groups with differentiated lessons. Books will remain on shelves and students will still be able to borrow books on a honor code system." *chuckle* how long before that approach is deemed a complete failure? however, we couldn't help but reflexive set the wayback machine to 1985 when we saw libraries will be used for dealing with students who misbehave. pretty much describes the setting o' the breakfast club. dystopian miss by a year. is not orwellian 1984 but hughes' 1985? aside: at the time we couldn't help but be impressed by the shermer high library aesthetic and size. were disappointed when we discovered it weren't a real high school library but rather a converted school gymnasium at a defunct high school. HA! Good Fun!
  18. Biden's dog, Commander, has been biting Secret Service agents not cool. not the dog's fault but am having little patience for those who is irresponsible pet owners. 'course we have never met a person who thinks o' themself as an irresponsible pet owner. HA! Good Fun!
  19. recent recovered audio (remastered) o' an early 1970s steely dan beer commercial jingle... never released HA! Good Fun!
  20. CDC Recommends RSV Vaccine For Older Adults Adults at the highest risk for severe RSV illness include older adults, adults with chronic heart or lung disease, adults with weakened immune systems, and adults living in nursing homes or long-term care facilities. CDC estimates that every year, RSV causes approximately 60,000–160,000 hospitalizations and 6,000–10,000 deaths among older adults. the vaccine will be available in the US this fall. HA! Good Fun!
  21. this is our problem. chicken fried steak is something we made a few times for family and friends, and most o' our acquaintances is midwesterners, californians or yankees o' some stripe. chicken fried steak is not something our friends and family is likely to have had more than once and chances are what they had weren't a particular good example o' the dish. our family experienced a pleasant kinda a shock when they realized how delicious were chicken fried steak, so now it is one o' the most common requests we get precise 'cause is not something they make for themselves or enjoy at a local restaurant. what family thought was chicken fried steak... wasn't. edit: most o' our family is not adventurous when it comes to menu selections. HA! Good Fun!
  22. "but still" is an admission o' self undercutting, yes? you make the counter argument and then "but still," for your main point? not to mention we disagree. honest makes us wonder if we played the same game. gonna limit to weapons: kitchen stove led to multiple builds being developed 'round the weapon. https://forums.obsidian.net/search/?q=kitchen stove&quick=1 silly op. marux amanth were not only powerful but were useful for multiple different classes and builds. we got extreme use from the burn + the extra attack chance for priests. am thinking people didn't fully understand the deadfire maths if they failed to recognize just how many extra attacks is functional possible generated with a priest wielding marux amanth. magran's favor were kinda op for fire users, which is what our contemplative were. we had never used a battle axe the whole game but 'cause o' the way deadfire didn't force us into single weapon specialization, we were able to get serious benefit from the axe late gam. in fact, for our first deadfire run, we started dual wielding sceptres with our contemplative, cause the helwalker+ priest o' eothas were kinda squish and range made sense. then switched to marux amanth + whatever relative early. the ball and chain flail seemed world beater effective for our high crit build. 'course late game were a dagger + axe 'cause with our contemplative wielding magran's favor we could lay down over-the-top pillars of fire. were no mechanical punishment for using the axe or the dagger or the flail. lord darryn's voulge were the primary weapon for our shaman and it were extreme fun to use... and strongk. stacking daze on crit and with a barbarian we were critting frequent enough. late game we might be tempted to switch to the also ridiculous powerful chromoprismatic staff, but for a shaman, the lightning aoe were tough to ignore. speaking o' our shaman, modwyr not only had the speed stacking quality (again, am thinking people didn't understand the maths, so perhaps seeming small stacking bonuses were overlooked too often) but the weapon were easy to upgrade and it eventual provided immunity to the confused state, which until mid game were our one shortcoming as a shaman. for the shaman we also thought tekēhu's weapon were mighty keen and so we upgraded and used for much o' the game when needing a ranged alternative. worked a bit like kitchen stove with our berserker. do we need to mention the plethora o' sabres? were actual a problem 'cause so many backers who paid for a custom weapon wanted sabres, so there were more good sabres than anything else at release. is not difficult to find threads complaining about why there were so many great sabres and not many hatchets... or whatever. etc. edit: shouldn't need be stated, but am thinking a main point o' deadfire gear scheme is missed. gear is important in deadfire, but is almost never what defines a character or makes a build strong. xzar serious undersells the kitchen stove, but that weapon is almost unique in that is more than a few builds which is dependent on the weapon. a major goal o' deadfire were to exorcise that stoopid. in wotr, we near always have ember go the fire route or focus enchantment spells. why? 'cause gear makes enchantment and fire the obvious wins. most wotr builds is as much gear dependent as they is focused on player abilities.bg2 were even worse with gear almost wholly defining the efficacy o' a majority o' builds. obsidan were specific trying to avoid such in deadfire. somehow the deadfire gear goal, one we see as a positive, needs be explained and apologized... which kinda misses what obsidian successful did. and for @Sarex and others who once again mention that deadfire were not perfect balanced, we observe such were never promised or even a goal. the obsidian developers observed that particular with creative players, there were always gonna be exploits if people looked hard enough. the actual goal were not to eliminate every powerful build but rather to make sure every class and build were viable and fun. observe the existence o' "outliers" is strawman 'cause obsidian specific noted on multiple occasions how elimination o' outliers were not a goal o' their balancing efforts. sure, the developers nerfed stuff more than once, but the real focus were to make every class viable... and potential fun. so, what were the prohibitive weak class in deadfire? if you tried hard or had extreme bad luck am s'posing were possible to self gimp with multi class, which is something obsidian warned 'bout in-game as well as on the boards. a not viable single class in deadfire? not seeing it. somebody in this thread actual mentioned a monk subclass, which were kinda insane. every monk were arguable too powerful in deadfire, so even the arguable worst were strong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiIu1d_T9Uk streetfighter + shattered pillar were extreme strong, but even a vanilla shattered pillar, particular with an instruments of pain build, was a wrecker. you will find no shortage of shatter pillars builds in the deadfire forum. aside, am recalling how during the beta we kept seeing complaints that rogues were weak. *snort* rogues weren't noticeable buffed during the beta, but sure enough, when deadfire were released and people actual played 'em, the rogue complaints disappeared. the rogue complaints, coming almost entire from people who hadn't bothered to play a rogue, were illustrative o' a major problem. 'cause deadfire were once again implementing rules different even from the original pathfinder, players made assumptions after reading class and item descriptions w/o realizing the actual gameplay efficacy o' those classes and items. everybody knew rouges sucked, but nobody had bothered to test 'em? 'ccording to obsidian's deadfire telemetry, literal nobody had played a shaman for a month or two following release, and near nobody had played a contemplative, but there were plenty o' opinions on shaman and contemplative builds. is why we played a shaman berserker + priest o' wael shaman. our first run were the helwalker + priest o' eothas. to say we were satisfied with our powha is an understatement. regardless, while there were indeed outliers in deadfire, there were no classes which were not viable. every class was effective. however, we will note an oft mentioned obsidian example were misleading. to show the range o' possible builds possible in pillars and again in deadfire, obsidian developers would reflexive mention how you could build a sooper smart barbarian. ... the obsidian barbarian example is opposite o' what the developers suggest. we played pillars and deadfire priests with high resolve or high might or high dexterity and all were viable and even fun. however, am thinking there were self gimpage involved if a player attempted to build a not sooper smart barbarian unless they were particular deft with the system. the example obsidian used all the time to identify more options actual represented one o' the rare cases o' homogenization. HA! Good Fun!
  23. 'cause broken arrows were mentioned in another thread also HA! Good Fun!
  24. chicken fried steak is literal the only recipe for which we use cube steak. our mother's swiss steak was... terrible. god rest her soul, but is no way to forgive what our mom did to swiss steak and we have never quite recovered from the trauma o' swiss steak nights. we mention 'cause o' the weird conflating terms-- "swiss" is the process to create cube steak but is also a tomato and cube steak recipe. swiss steak is called swiss steak 'cause you use cube steak and not 'cause o' switzerland origins. whatever. we rare have the patience to swiss meat for proper chicken fried steak. furthermore, we have never had an urge to try and make swiss steak as an adult, which also uses cube steak but is complete different than chicken fried steak. unnecessarily confusing. chicken fried steak is one o' our go-to dutch oven recipes and the resulting pan dripping thyme gravy is 100% artery destroying goodness. however, we let our butcher swiss the meat. 'course when is as hot as it has been recent, we rare use the dutch oven. good news is local tomatoes just beginning to hit ideal season and so for the next almost two months we will be eating tomato everything... but not swiss steak. curious, am understanding swiss steak didn't original call for tomatoes, but that is so not the point. today we did have a glorious tomato sandwich which involved homemade bread, oh-so-ez homemade mayo, salt, a sprinkle o' cream of tartar and fresh ground black pepper. bread were the most complicated part o' the sandwich and kinda unnecessary. we also made an all-purpose marinara as well as a similar-but-not-same chicago style pizza sauce which we risk offending the culinary gods by topping a detroit style pizza we plan on making tomorrow eve. am risking our south-side credentials by admitting that when we make pizza at home, we almost always 'go detroit style 'cause is easier and we don't need any fancy equipment to get it right. we also picked up an armenian cucumber when we bought our tomatoes... just 'cause. am gonna see how the cucumber works for tzatziki. we got a decent gyro meat knock-off recipe but is just an excuse to use tzatziki. ordinarily we use english cucumber for the yogurt-based sauce but we figured we would live dangerous and try armenian. HA! Good Fun!
