i'd love the option to play variant races and classes. Is that too much to ask?
YES!
No, seriously, I'd like the option too, but I don't mind playing a Jedi.
The fact that you have force powers shouldn't limit your character in any way, I mean, look at Jolee. That old guy was living on Kashyyyk and couldn't care less about the Jedi order.

And I'd like to add a big NO to the request of more real-time combat and less turn-based.
I think the idea is for turn-based combat that would look like realtime, visually. More animations per round might be all that's required to produce a cinematic feel.

Nothing wrong with Pazaak. A very enjoyable minigame and quite addictive in it's own way.
The issues I have with it:
1) always having to play the first card (which is a common complaint)
2) the computer opponents might actually "cheat", or at least have the virtual deck stacked in their favor.
They almost always have the right card for any situation, and the natural 20's they receive are abnormally high. I suspect the game is rigged. No one has proved this though.
Despite that, I have a soft spot for Pazaak...

Still its a lot better that what s*** Lords previews are hinting at, that just looks as bad fan fiction.
It's waaay too early to say something like that. We know almost nothing about the story yet. Hardly the time to deliver a guilty verdict.
We play a Jedi in the aftermath of a civil war. That's all we know!
If you don't like the outline now, it's going to be a long wait until the game. The full story will probably be kept under wraps. And rightly so.
-
However, Xbox and PC fans of the game will to wait until February 2005 to play it on their respective formats.
Let's hope that means a simultaneous release on PC and Xbox.

Oh, and the ability to modify your swoop racer would have been awesome. Let's hope they don't can that idea again!
Good idea.
A few of the stores did imply that swoop parts were for sale, so I was disappointed to find none available. Didn't stop me from winning the races, though.

What details we have so far doesn't tell us much other than how Kotor2 begins, and since LucasArts are producing the game I don't think they'd allow a story which compromises the integrity of Star Wars.
Hasn't Lucas already done that with Episodes I & II?
TripleRRR
Hehe, yeah, you're right about that.

According to the article, the Jedi Order was disbanded, not the Republic.
The Republic is in shambles, reeling from the aftermath of the Jedi civil war and the scourge of Darth Malak. The Jedi Order has been disbanded...What details we have so far doesn't tell us much other than how Kotor2 begins, and since LucasArts are producing the game I don't think they'd allow a story which compromises the integrity of Star Wars.

The combat feats are kinda useless. I never take more than one level in any of them, usually flurry, and you get that for free as a scout. It served me well the entire game. I prefer to max out dueling, conditioning, and implants, than crit strike or power attack.
Make combat, specifically lightsaber combat, seem more real-time instead of turn based, no matter how hard BioWare tried I could still see the "turn" part of there system which definitely took away from the experience. That is what I'd like to see, combat which flows and is a continuous fight. New animations will help here, even better if they're longer and more complex. Lightsaber styles that are unique to your character would be nice.
For example, the dueling feat could alter your stance, with your saber held 1-handed to allow for quick parries and flicks of the wrist. Dooku demonstrates this when he's backing up against Anakin's 2 lightsabers. His 1-handed defense blocked those attacks with ease. A style based on finesse than brute force...
There's plenty of inspiration to find in the "official" Jedi Fighting Styles, the 7 lightsaber forms. I don't think Obsidian should use these but it does show the possibilities.

Oh, and please free us from 80% of the already existing inventory clutter, thx.
I second that!
-
I hope no more story details are released. We already know too much, imo. In fact, even the vague outline we have has motivated some "enlightened" folk on the Bioware forums to declare that Kotor2 will suck.

Where's the option for "all of the above?"
I voted for storyline/characters, which is definitely the best part of KotOR and I expect the sequel to also focus on story.
Better combat would be my second choice. It was let down badly by limited animations and feats that were all pretty similar. Whether you take flurry, critical strike, etc, is mostly down to personal preference, not because they offer anything radically different. Feats should complement each other in some way. I wouldn't mind seeing cleave and attack of opportunity. That might make combat more unpredictable than beating on one opponent til dead.
As for the planets, yeah, they were way too small, except for the dune sea. You should be able to use a speeder for areas like that.

Amazing how much energy is being expended arguing about 3 innocuous minigames, 2 of which are optional.
One is optional.
Since Pazaak is optional, you must mean the single Swoop Race on Taris?
OK, you are required to do that, but ironically that is the only time a minigame helps to drive the story forward. Breaking into the Vulkar base, recovering the swoop engine, then winning the race... all lead to rescuing Bastila.
Wasn't that the basis for some people's argument? That the games had no purpose? Well, this one does. It didn't feel forced or out-of-place, unlike the turret shooter which felt like a last minute addition.

It would be better to relax and accept these games because they are going to return. Whining over something that is already set in stone seems a pointless exercise to me.

I would very much like to be able to find only one or two, instead of three, three was too many in my opinion.
One Jedi would be fine, besides yourself. If you find two then the all-Jedi strike force becomes possible again.
-
Yep, you're the last known Jedi.
Any Jedi you recruit will probably be found later hiding out some place.
Of course, we as players know that there's more out there, I mean they don't all die off overnight, but the galaxy as a whole might think they're dead. Hence, you are the last Jedi.

Force Choke & Dominate Mind were underused.
The only time you could choke someone, outside of combat, was the Czerka officer on Tatooine. It was satisfying though.
Dominate mind could also be better. The infamous Zalbaar/Mission scene aside, you never get much opportunity to really dominate someone. What a shame.

Well, it's nice to see all these wish lists but I think the feature set has already been finalized.
What we say here will likely fall on deaf ears.
-
It's almost certain that we'll play a Jedi again - the last Jedi, in fact - but I see no reason why you must be human.
Hell, I wanted to be like that Mandalorian Sherruk on Dantooine, who collected lightsabers, but overall I don't mind being a Jedi... well, in my case a Sith.
-
You'll need those levels to be able to access them
Good point.

I got over the whole thing of stealing from people and having them not notice. It's been an RPG staple for years, changing it now would somehow feel wrong.
You only have to pick something up in Morrowind and NPCs want to kill you.
Even Caius will try to smash your face in if you touch his stuff.
-
I don't think so, you will probably have to be a certain level and meet certain feet and skill requirements to choose a prestige class. So not leveling up will not make a great deal of sense.
Yeah, that's how I think it will be. At least I hope so. I just want to play and level up naturally, not worry about saving experience for later.
-
hmm, most of that was 'lifted' from the EGM preview.
Naughty, naughty.

It's funny how you can break into someone's apartment, rob them blind while they watch, and calmly walk out with your booty. It's reasonable to expect some reaction in this case. And bystanders pay no attention either while you're busting down your victim's door.

The combat queue is mostly to blame for the "sit back and watch the action" moments. It's all too easy to line up your best attacks with no pressure on you at all.
