  1. And here goes the line about how superior PC is due to the ability to upgrade without replacing the entire unit.
  2. Guess why Hades will not buy this game?
  3. ...which would be lost to inflation every year?
  4. Let n = 3, so there are 3 gentlemen: 1, 2, 3 Then all possible (equally likely) permutations of hats are: 1, 2, 3 (1,2,3 get their hats) 1, 3, 2 (1 gets his hat) 2, 1, 3 (3 gets his hat) 2, 3, 1 (noone gets his hat) 3, 1, 2 (noone gets his hat) 3, 2, 1 (2 gets his hat) Probability of 1 gentleman getting his hat: 4/6 (from example above) 4/6 ≠ 1/n! = 1/3! = 1/6 Probability n gentleman getting their hats, i.e. everyone gets their hat (if I understand you correctly): 1/6 (from example above) 1/6 ≠ 1/(n-1)! = 1/(3-1)! = 1/2! = 1/2 But, 1/6 = 1/n! (the only permutation where all elements are in their positions) No?
  5. Probability of n gentlemen getting their hat is still 1/n!, as there is only one permutation out of n, where every element in its original position. Anyway, everyone here is not correct (according to the answer Julian gave me ), I guess we're reading the question wrong in this part: "no man gets back his hat and his umbrella?". I think it doesn't mean "every gentleman doesn't get either of hat or umbrella", but rather "every gentleman gets at least one item wrong".
  6. If the question asked the probability of everyone getting their hat and umbrella, the answer would be much more simple: (1/n!)^2. OK, I guess my answer still isn't correct. It askes the probability of everyone not getting either one of hat and umbrella.
  7. Yes, if you work as a game reviewer!
  8. Come on, Julian, give out the answer.
  9. No. * I never give away my email on the web (except for a few occasions). Even if there is a privacy policy. * I have obscure email addresses.
  10. I didn't get any spam in like 3 years.
  11. OH NO! The return of the spammest thread.
  12. @Kaftan So you are talking about the model of establishing rather than running an indie game development studio?
  13. Wrong (as I listen to classics and therefore I am smarter than you), and that only has to show how much you know about jazz or classical (I know more about jazz and classics, therefore I am smarter than you... besides, I have a more intelligent avatar), which is propably nothing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Subconsciousness, whispering. 15. Oops, it was wrong. :"> Actually, (!n / n!)^2, where !n =
  16. It is spelled kolkhoz and sovkhoz and no, there is no 100% resemblance, about 20-30%. However you are right on one point, I too can't imagine how the proposed structure would work in practice.
  17. One more big point to Apple: they hepled to popularize digital music destribution. iTunes is the first popular (and legal) music download service.
  18. A lot of progress since last time. Why is skybox unfiltered though?
  19. There is not correlation between music preference and intelligence. Music is first and foremost an emotional rather than intellectual experience.
  20. (1 - (1/(N^2)))^N ?
  21. I believe in statistics.
  22. I used to be negative about IPods like you are... until I've got one
