  1. No, that is not proof. In fact, you copied that from "what's likely but not certain?", meaning those are just theories, justified under certain interpretations of data. The validity of that data, and the validity of the interpretations and therefore the conclusions themselves, is highly debatable. Again, show me proof.
  2. No, he's not really a Christian. He's a Catholic. It's not necessarily the same. And from a pragmatic standpoint, it's a good thing that the Pope is an ultra-conservative. It's a fact that stagnant institutions are much more likely to crumble than those which are able to adapt to the new times.
  3. Ok.
  4. No, you don't.
  5. What was that all about?
  6. It's probably the certainty of knowing you will end up killing The President the feeling you are talking about.
  7. Because in metals, the atoms that compose the metal aren't specifically bonded to their adjacent neighbors, but rather, to the mass of metal itself, due to electrostatic attraction caused by the "electronic gas". If we are to believe that the structure of glass allows for molecules of SiO2 to change location like that, the atoms of the metal should be able to do the same. And the same goes for covalent solids with weak intermolecular forces (but strong enough to keep it solid at room temperature). But as I said, I'm no chemist, so I'm probably wrong.
  8. How come I missed this thread? I will only add to what Morgoth wrote that the game world seems pretty static. For instance, after the beheading sequence, people stood there for like 5 minutes, in silence, staring at the now-headless corpse. I can't say for sure if they stayed there longer, because after talking to the most scruffy-looking president of all the post-apoc games I've seen, I left. Another detail. In the battle with the wolves that Morgoth mentioned, I tried to fall back and lure them to the gates of the New Govt. so the tough guys with rifles there would earn their pay. Well, it seems they aren't paid enough, because they allowed the wolves to tear me up quite nicely. Also, it seems the wolves don't like the taste of gate guards, because they ignored them completely. That is the kind of things that make it hard for players to immerse in the game. It's a damn shame this game turned out to be such a disappointment. I was really looking forward to this one.
  9. Interesting. I don't buy it, though. If that was true, it should affect metals, and weakly bonded covalent solids as well. But I'm no chemist so what do I know.
  10. I was mistaken alright. "Bella" is the plural form of "bellum", not the other way around. In Latin, depending on the function one word has within a sentece, its morphology changes. I believe it's called the "inflections" of a word, in English.
  11. In fact both of you are correct. If I'm not mistaken, "bella" is the singular for "bellum". Interestingly enough, "bella" is a feminine adjective meaning "beautiful" in spanish.
  12. Bitter almonds are potentially deadly. These almonds contain a molecule called amygdalin (also known as vitamin B17 or laetrile) and an enzyme known as emulsine, that when coming in contact with each other due to chewing the almond, break the amygdaline down into D-glucose, benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide. The benzaldehyde provides the extremely bitter taste that acts as a warning. The hydrogen cyanide is a very potent poison. There you have it. An extremely easy and cheap yet vile way of ending all of your problems.
  13. LOL @ ^ Really, it's hilarious to see people heartily defend arguments that basically go like "my geekfest is more relevant than your geekfest".
  14. Sorry Nur, that's just how things are. And I didn't really write anything in that last post. I just posted some quotes. It's not my fault if the majority thinks that TotJ sucks donkey balls. )
  15. Sid Meier's Pirates! LEGO® Star Wars Replaying Blade Runner  (w00t)
  16. I believe it's too large. 125x600 is the max size allowed. "
  17. I don't think mankind is prepared to see flying golden pirate ships on TV.
  18. The nazi sig is the best one, hands down. I doubt anyone would be allowed to use it here, though.
  19. Come on guys, you know you love him.
  20. Yep. One of the big points of Redemption is that it doesn't try to be an epic story. It's just about a man. No villains, no wars, no heroes. Good stuff.
