Well, I found the first time I went to Jekk Jekk in most my games was for that subplot. A time later I went earlier, and there seemed to be a door blocking me. However, it was just an animation glitch, and I was able to walk through without actually opening the door. Not sure if that's helpful, or just another of the glitches in this KoTOR2 beta we've all been playing.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs ... kinda has spoilers ...
Jitawa replied to cackles's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In a kind of interesting bug/oversight... you can usually get the Hutt to deal with you after you blow up the Yacht. Despite GOTO's little empire being blown up, you can walk in, he'll say he's having problems, offer to help for fuel, and he'll tell you to deal with GOTO (you can do this with GOTO in the party too). Start up a conversation with him again, and negotiate the fuel trade (had this work in all of my games). Unfortunately, despite the earlier bit where the Captain in Telos said he'd like you to tell him if you find some fuel, that section of the fuel quest was never put in... so, sucks for you. You can get a finder's fee from the Hutt, but that's it. I agree with the earlier poster about returning though. Take it back if you can, you could always use the cash to buy a less buggy PC version in a month if you're so inclined (I'd wait and make sure the bugs are actually fixed though). -
I never cease to be amazed what a dedicated fan can do in terms of fixes for a game (consider all the mods/fixes that came out for Baldur's Gate 2... there was a fix/mod for everything, and the game was great to start with). I hadn't heard that a guy was still working on MoO3, but that's cool. Like I've said (and repeated ad nauseam).. it wouldn't be AS big a deal if this release wasn't on a console.

Well it does say 'Self-Help' in the forum title... " . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I know. The forum title states it's a self-help bit. This is also a "technical" help forum though. My point is... there isn't any technical help, and there won't be any plausible way for technical "issues" to be addressed until the PC release. As far as hardware, the xbox is static device, if you did modify it... none of your modifications are supported in terms of you being able to play games. In terms of software, no patch can be made, an there's only one OS being dealt with. So, the extent of posting here is: poster1:"I have problems...", poster2:"me too", poster3 "my copy runs fine you lying bastards, stop your whining", poster4 "How do I get off the Mining Station?".... The best we can hope for from the developer is what Akari did for the workbench topic... tell us if it's design or bug. Nothing will actually get fixed until the PC release (assuming a bunch of fixes go in there).

I'd say the game would be more balance (read: more difficult) if item creation was only checking the PC. As it stands, you have several characters that, barring saving up all your skill points and never using them, will get ridiculously high skill levels in pretty much everything. It was never much of a reward to get an armor upgrade or such in game, since the game made it so easy to make any of that stuff... Just throw Bao-Dur in front of the bench... bam... you have any upgrade you want. The balance would've been better with just PC skill checks. However, I think the component transfer rate could also be raised somewhat in that case. My first game, with repair at 0 not being a class skill... even at the end of the game I could only get a single component for breaking down anything. I still got enough components to have Bao-Dur make everything I needed... but getting the same amount of components from everything was a bit silly.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't sure if there was something wrong or not... If you go to... I think it's the quest screen? You can tab over various menus by first hitting X to get to messages, then Y to go over to the Feedback tab which shows the math breakdown for combat situations

Hmm... so none of those odd robes from the Strat-guide? I've been curious if people were actually finding Arca jeth's robe, or Jolee's robes... and so on...
-
Are you suggesting it rivals Master of Orion 3? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well.... I was referring to console releases. Since they can't be patched. It's perhaps a sad thing to say, but most PC games have a patch released for them at some point. MOO3 for instance did have a patch. and no, I'm not young, nor do I have a short memory. I know EA and Lucasarts aren't exactly the best publishers in the world, but I've played enough of their CONSOLE releases (to say nothing of PC) to know that this hardly the standard number of bugs/glitches in a Lucasarts console release.
-
The saddest part about all of this, is despite the fact the xbox version is terribly buggy... if I heard everything is fixed in the PC version then I'd probably still pick it up (obviously, the xbox version is unlikely to be re-released here).

Reading through this forum, you see alot of posts of people explaining problems. Bugs are verified by other people that share the problem. Nothing really gets done though. Despite this being a technical support forum, for self-help. We can't fix the game, and there's nothing we can really do about most of the technical problems. The only technical problem sited by the developers is the "no HDD play"... which would mean you were playing illegally in a fashion anyway. There's also no support on the Lucasarts technical help forum. Just pages of people saying they can't play, or they have such and such bugs... This game has wound up being one of the worst releases in memory. No patch will ever come, and no real technical support can be given to these people, since the game code itself is flawed. It's just so sad. The people that can play through are mostly disappointed in an ending that everyone seems to hate. What can you do?

Marauder's have a clever ability called "Ignore Pain" which has the usual three tiers... top tier should take 15% off of ALL damage suffered... compare with second tier of toughness.. which says take 10% off anything over 20dmg.. However, despite the fact I have Ignore Pain.... When I get hit, the combat feedback screen lists only toughness under effects impacting damage breakdown... for example: "Damage Breakdown 19 = slashing 20 + strength mod 4 - toughness 2" here's another one "Damage Breakdown 23 = slashing 25 + strenthmod 4 - toughness 2" Couple issues here... First... 24 - 2 isn't 19. Second assume we're talking about "toughness 2" as the 10% deal..., the math is still wrong, 24 - 2.4 isn't 19 either. I also can't think of any combination of using ignore pain's 15% that would produce these numbers... they just seem... well, wrong. But ignore pain definitely isn't listed. What's happening there?

The hand flickering I have noticed, it happened with the main character in my first game, the offhand (left side of equip screen) would flicker when a weapon was equipped there. Never sure what to make of that... It'd be nice if we heard something. I mean, I know they can't patch it since live-enable was removed. I know that the game won't get recalled, and I won't get my money back. But if someone apologized, or said "my bad"... I'd feel somewhat better about this experience. This is the buggiest console game in memory for me.

I'd like to hear from a developer as well. Beyond the plot loose ends (HK-47 factory conversations anyone? Mandalore's leadership quest (it puts a nice blank text box in your quest menu)) crash bugs (go to black screen, get your save corrupted), graphical slowdown, and plain glitchy influence/appearance system (your groupmates' alignment flashes back and forth all the time, along with their appearance when influence isn't changing). The actual game mechanics issues bother me the most. The game has serious balance issues, a max dark side marauder with no points in cha/wis (8 for both) can still clean a room with force storm and lose no appreciable amount of force points. Master Speed and Force Aura don't give the defense bonus, making the later completely worthless. By extension, Force enlightenment, which bundles the two... is also nigh worthless. Master Fury (the Marauder class skill) is supposed to give an extra two attacks... it doesn't, guess what that means? Hanharr's frenzy line (which is the same effect if you check the "effects" screen) suffers from the issue. It's like I find more broken stuff in this game everyday. How did this happen? Why no feedback? Why no apology? The tech-support forums on both the developer's and the publisher's sites are relatively silent. Should someone say something?

There was a droid planet nixed? That probably explains why there are no high quality droid vendors in the game. Telos one sold crap, the Onderon one sells crap, the Dantooine usually only has repair kits... despite being a "droid" merchant. Nar Shaddaa guy sells crap. The good merchant was probably on the droid planet. The only good droid parts I ever get in this game are off the droids in Nar Shaddaa warehouse.

*** Post your bugs/problems here ***
Jitawa replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I made another post about it, I guess I might as well add it here... The Sith Marauder's Fury line doesn't give extra attacks for "Improved Fury" or "Master Fury"... barring my game being broken. It's easy to test. Give yourself a one-handed weapon, activate Master fury, do a regular attack... only one number will pop up. Hanharr's Wookie Frenzy seems to have the same problem.. the higher levels should grant additional attacks, but they don't. This isn't surprising, if you check the effects listing when Hanharr uses his best Wookie frenzy, they call the effect "Master Fury", so they're the same ability as far as the game is considered. So, unless I'm taking crazy pills, there's two very broken skills there. Which is unfortunate, since Burst of speed is armor restricted, and Fury isn't, so it *could* have allowed Sith Marauders to boost their number of attacks whilst wearing heavy armor or such. -
Hanharr's top frenzy ability also isn't giving the two extra attacks it's supposed to...
-
The skill description says it adds 2 attacks, but doesn't stack with burst of speed... however just using Master Fury and attacking... I still have just one attack.. what's up with that?

While I think you're mostly right in your conjecture, this line: ""Hence her interest in the Exile. When she looks at him and sees the 'death of the force', I think quite literally what she means is the death of the forces control over people."" I don't think is quite accurate. Kreia does loathe the way the force controls people, but the echo is something different. Nihilus is similar to the PC, but never referred to as an echo, or causing echo (that I recall anyway) however is referred to as a wound indirectly. The PC's wound in the force seems to have a unique quality, the fact that he can "drain" people as well is just gravy in the power sense. The game suggests that as the exile continues his path of destruction, the echo will become louder and louder (note that Visas could hear him across the galaxy). The game also suggests that if the echo is allowed to "grow" unchecked it would reach of deafening level, killing alll that can hear the force. So, the echo isn't the death of the force's control over people, it would be a more literal death of anyone that's force sensitive... no more Jedi or Sith, the echo would kill them. As an additional plot point regarding "the enemy", we do hear from Kreia that maybe true Sith teachings are beyond the outer rim, but I thought Atris's comment was more interesting. If , instead of killing her, you leave her to the Sith Holocrons, she comments about why the teachings on Malachor were allowed to survive if they only create wounds in the force (thus, teachings that are a danger to all other force users in a way). The sith Holocrons do some hissing, and she replies, "as a beacon? a beacon for who?" This suggests that the events of this game, Nihilus's rampage, and the exile's echo may have been the Trayus's academy's manner of contacting someone/something (possible true Sith) beyond the outer rim. True Sith is a good bet, since the Trayus academy was most likely constructed by the old sith, and it seems unlikely that they would place a beacon to a hereto unknown third party there.

I've got through the file list, comparing it to my current list. Yeah, there appears to be a missing Khoonda sequence. Though I'm not sure what else I can do different there. I'm guessing that "scnmov01.bik" is the Visas introduction, since it doesn't quite fit with the Malachor set, which is where it would have to be otherwise. On the otherhand, the "Ravager" intro, as well as all the other Ravager clips have to be part of the Malachor set. The onderon-dxun set is all accounted for, as are Telos, Peragus, Dantooine, Korriban, the credits, hyperspace, trailer, and Kreia's fall. This suggests that the final two missing clips are part of the Malachor set... so the ending, or the ravager sequence. I'd heard that there were plans to have an alternate way to deal with the Ravager (crash it into Telos), but that was taken out.. there is no means to do it in game (it won't let you leave without blowing the ship up). Thus, I can see no way for that sequence to change. That leaves only Malachor itself. It's interesting that there's a MalMov01a/b, as well as a MalMov11a/b... I'm wondering what that difference is. It could be the DS/LS end swap, but I dunno. Without going through the Malachor set individually, there's little way to tell which are the missing ones. So, one missing Khoonda, and two missing Malachor.

First off, I know there's a couple ways to persuade him to go outside and get himself killed. I was curious how you could handle Geredi in a more lightside fashion. I assumed, that like the other players, the condition they wanted to be satisfied to make the champ appear is for me to beat him at Pazaak. However, I have beat him at Pazaak, and it does nothing but give me credits. His quest remains active, and the Champ does not appear. So... what do you do? How do you handle him in a not evil fashion? How do you beat the pazaak player... because beating him at pazaak isn't the answer apparently...

Nar Shadda the Bane of all my Problems
Jitawa replied to Slipstreamevolution's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There seems to be a glitch in Nar Shaddaa where you can get the exchange's opinion of you balanced between love/hate after completing every quest, and thus be stuck. Other than paying the rat guy (which you can only do once), I can't think of much you can do. It may be that some of the quests that were supposed to make the exchange hate you were incorrectly flagged when the game was coded, and are resulting in the opposite effect. -
As near as I can tell, the turret battle above Onderon doesn't do a damn thing. You end up on Dxun either way with nothing better or worse for you being a sitting duck, or a crack shot... If whoever was looking at the video file names on disk could post a complete list of the file names, I think it might help with guessing the missing movies...
-
Modded xbox I'm guessing, since you can't read xbox disks on a PC
-
I thought I remembered someone on this board saying they had all the movies... was I mistaken? Or does no one feel like pulling up their list to help a brother out here?
