  1. Sure, but good goaltending would've taken the game tonight to overtime rather than a two-point loss. The very last goal, which Johnson handled (or didn't handle) was just crap; the second-to-last, Ollie was way the hell out of position, and Sundin just wrapped it around.
  2. Jebus. Know what? I'm gonna quit my day job and go play goalie for the Caps. I can go to sleep in the net and I'll do a better job than this particular duo.
  3. Yeah, the hockey's part of their normal programming. So far this season, it looks like they average two games per week as far as broadcasts go. I can find the Caps fairly regularly on Comcast, since I'm in the DC area. I definitely preferred ESPN's hockey coverage, though. For one thing, I can't find Barry Melrose anywhere anymore, and he was always fun to listen to. Got home earlier than I expected, and didn't realize that Comcast was broadcasting the Caps - Leafs, so I sat here like a moron watching the third period of Boston - Philly. Just happened to be flipping through, saw more hockey, and now I'm watching the Caps fall apart. Though Ovechkin's marked up his fifth multiple-goal game of the season. I swear, nobody can put the puck in the net on that team except for the kid. It's pathetic.
  4. Nope. On the other hand, I don't trust those who have put words in his mouth to have gotten them exactly right. I don't know why anyone would. Edit: What thread got deleted?
  5. No. What gives you the right to tell me how to live my life? I want a serious answer.
  6. Nothing was actually written by Jesus. And how can you possibly be sure what's intended to be figurative and what's intended to be literal?
  7. First Death Star trench run. The second Death Star trench run is probably my second favorite. There have been cool effects in the prequel trilogy, and I like Ewan MacGregor, but they just can't hold a candle to the original trilogy.
  8. What if we don't want him? I'm still not getting why evangelicals get to incessantly preach to us infidels. Other than the whole free speech thing.
  9. Quit bringing that book up. You'll never know the true horror it contains until you've read the whole damn thing.
  10. Yeah. Sorry, dude, but FSM's been around for a while.
  11. Points to Kumquat for being the first ever to find out about this. First ever on this board, I'm sure of it. Never been posted before, definitely.
  12. Check out Captain Ian Fishback's comments. For the record, I've never seen anything that I'd classify as mistreatment. Which is a good thing, since in the current climate it'd mean my ass if I had.
  13. I guarantee you there is torture going on. Look at it this way: we run survival schools attended by various billets in the military. Our pilots, some of our intel guys, our super secret squirrels...every single class, somebody either quits or gives up information they're not supposed to give up. And this is in an environment where they know that it's just a school. Draw your own conclusions, but the guys running these things are some of the ones advising on how to interrogate detainees.
  14. Hmm... not convinced... would you really trust what a fundamentalist nutjob said about their plans? And surely such information isn't shared with the smaller, less-nutty fundamentalists in order to prevent such information from being revealed? DL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's McCain's argument, that torture doesn't provide accurate information.
  15. How would torturing someone prevent another 9/11? The same "logic" goes for capital punishment, which in no way prevents murders, rapes or other atrocious crimes occurring in America DL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, if we captured someone who had crucial information to preventing another 9/11...like, the planes are in the air, and he knows the flight numbers...that sort of thing.
  16. Not particularly. Not uncommon for people caught doing a crime to try to shift the blame onto someone else. In some circumstances. Such as if torturing someone would prevent another 9/11 but then what would be your call in that situation ? But we are back to the definition of torture again. I don't see them hooking peoples nuts to car batteries, or pulling their finger nails out with pliers for example. Or hacking off their ears (something Saddams regime routinely did). Since the army is made up of people and with people your going to get good and bad soldiers. All you can do is make sure the incidents are dealt with when they come to light. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've said it before, I'm a hundred percent certain that they waterboard. And that's never a good time.
  17. Maybe your statement would have some shred of credibility if this were not an isolated incident that clearly contradicted U.S. policy. You forget that Abu Graib was done by only a handful of soldiers out of thousands serving in Iraq. Nothing else of that calibur has been found. As Shadowpaladin pointed out, it's not that the U.S. never tortures, it's that the U.S.'s policy is to not torture those in captivity. Those who do so are the exception, not the rule. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, five Rangers got charged yesterday with abusing prisoners. And if you believe Fishback, it's a lot more widespread than we'd prefer. I do believe him in his claims that he tried for months to get some sort of clarifying statement from the chain of command about treatment of detainees. There's a lot of vagueness going around.
  18. Rugby players are weak midgets You can't compare those weaklings to the 6'2''-6'10'' 300+ pounds (of muscle) monsters, who can sprint faster than most people on earth, that play football. If America considered Rugby worth our time, we would dominate in about a week. Week and a half if there isn't cheerleaders. Hell, we really don't care about soccer too much, yet I believe we still have a top ten ranking. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, come now. Rugby is a fine sport for those Europeans and Australians who lack the physical attributes - by which I mean strength, stamina, and size - necessary to play football. If they enjoy watching their spindly little menfolk chase each other around a field, displaying that healthy pallor the English are known for, as well as thin little legs that'd be dwarfed by most upper arms on this side of the pond, let them do so.
  19. It's French for boring <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't you a baseball fan?
  20. What time? I'm probably going to miss it, since I'll be staring at walls until nine or so.
  21. Actually, you can. That's the military. However, I think Hades' argument is a little crazy. On the other hand, I don't see why clarifying our stance on the issue of torture is such a bad idea.
  22. I don't much care about sleep deprivation or loud music or any of that crap. But we probably waterboard. The gents who train our guys in this sort of thing are very fond of waterboarding. I most definitely consider that a form of torture.
  23. That wacky God, planting more evidence to throw us off the real track.
  24. Full text here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051108/ap_on_...wh/bush_torture So if we don't torture, why do we need to exempt the CIA from a potential ban on torture?
