Official English Press Release
Square Enix Announces Partnership With Obsidian Entertainment for DUNGEON SIEGE 3
LOS ANGELES, June 7 -- Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX
According to the article above, 2K Games had "acquired publishing rights to both Dungeon Siege II: Broken World for the PC, and also Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony for the PSP."
When did 2K Games acquire the publishing rights for DSIII? I've never heard of it.
To acquire publishing rights doesn't mean the publisher owns the IP. For example, original Jade Empire for Xbox was published by Microsoft and Jade Empire: Special Edition for PC was published by 2K Games but BioWare still owns the IP.
"This is part two of my interview with Chris Avellone. Here, Chris discusses his design philosophy behind one of the greatest computer role-playing games of all time, Planescape: Torment."
It's simple.
Secret Project
Project Director: Feargus Urquhart
Lead Designer: Nathaniel Chapman
Lead Creative Designer: George Ziets
F:NV
Project Director and Lead Designer: Josh Sawyer (one man taking up two roles)
Lead Creative Designer: John Gonzalez
Project Director on Alpha Protocol was Chris Parker and Lead Designers on AP were Raymond Holmes and Chris Avellone. Project Director's role is similiar to Executive Producer's.
Except in the case of FO:NV where Josh is both the Project Director and Lead.. or am I confusing things?
Josh Sawyer had been the lead designer and the lead creative designer on Aliens: Crucible before John Gonzalez joined Obsidian and became the lead creative designer on A:C.
Project Director on Alpha Protocol was Chris Parker and Lead Designers on AP were Raymond Holmes and Chris Avellone. Project Director's role is similiar to Executive Producer's.
1UP executive editor Thierry Nguyen's tweet
"Whoah, @ChrisAvellone is basically livetweeting the ATB podcast where we talk up Obsidian. Now learning what we get right/wrong from him."
