It's like they took a really good hockey game and turned it into an RPG. There are quests and skills to develop. It's epic. I noticed a few bugs, but that's very typical. Hopefully they'll update it.

I don't think anyone has every been arrested for using a CD crack on a game they own.

NHL09 rocks, as expected. I started a power forward center and I'm playing for Boston, starting in the AHL. My first game was good, I had a goal and 20 shots. I have to be careful on the line changes, though. Managed 6 bone crunchers as well. This game rocks.

The quality of combat in Bloodlines and other games
Hurlshort replied to Dark_Raven's topic in Computer and Console
I haven't played JA2. But, back on topic, if we're talking combat, surely there's a direct tension between realism and awesomeitude? If combat were realistic it would totally suck. And I'm not just talking getting hit. You'd have PTSD for years after playing a game. I think there was somebody on this forum awhile back that disliked JA2. They died a horrible death, from what I remember. It is a pretty popular game on these forums. It gets almost as much mention as BG2. -
Creationist Site Targets Spore

"Just another direct attack from a man who thinks he is unstoppable." Heh, I've never quite thought of Will Wright in this fashion. -
I'll be honest, when I was in High School I gave little thought to pirating. We had FTP sites and with my 2400 baud modem I downloaded a few things. I regret it now, I look back and realize how young and dumb I was. I'm just hoping that the message of the clearly older folks on this forum is getting across to the younger ones. It is wrong and it damages the very industry that you enjoy.

And yet you chose to play it for 10 hours. Oh, sorry, you were forced to play it for 10 hours. The "oh I only make this much and games are like sooo expensive" sob story it just pathetic. Games are luxury items, no one needs to play them, and certainly no one is forced to play them. "I was forced into it. By myself!" Companies make and sell games. You want to play them, you buy them. Don't want to pay for them, then you don't get to play them. Sure, it's a sob story. But if someone makes 700 Euro a month and can't afford more than one game per month.. Who gives a **** if he downloads stuff? It's not like he could have spent money he didn't have on those games anyhow. These are the risks you run as a consumer. It doesn't excuse thievery. These are games, it's not a loaf of bread to feed your family, there is no moral excuse for stealing it.

Ditto that. I wonder what made her run the red light? I'd guess she's just a bad driver. It didn't look like she was on the phone or anything.

This morning I was in a car accident. I was at a stoplight, and when it turned green, I started to go, but I noticed a car was going pretty fast and I put on my brakes. The car ran the red light and was smashed into by a mini-van that was coming to opposite direction of me. The red light runner skidded across the lane and clipped my back bumper. My car is drive-able, but the back bumper and trunk door are very banged up. It's a Honda CR-V, and it's my wife's car. This is the third time I've been hit this year. I was rear ended twice and then this one happened. I'm really getting tired of being hit. The red light runner was an older lady, and she was taken away in an ambulance. She sounded pretty bad, but they were able to move her easily enough and she was conscious. Both her car and the mini-van were totaled. Luckily there were no kids in any of the cars. I got a police report.

Wild Hogs - I expected it to be lame, but it was fairly funny. The ending Extreme Home Makeover bit was great.

Rumor: MS plans to shut down Ensemble Studios?
Hurlshort replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
It sounds like, between the new studio being founded, and MS supposedly relocating some people, there won't be too many jobs lost. But that was just the way Gamasutra made it sound. -
Yikes, anger.

Rumor: MS plans to shut down Ensemble Studios?
Hurlshort replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
This seems pretty odd, but my guess is it has more to due with problems between Ensemble's upper management and MS than any problems with their products. Halo Wars will probably sell decently, it's hard to imagine it won't at least keep pace with AoE III. -
Volourn clearly knows everything. We should all bow to his mastery of the release date calendar. I got to Best Buy and found NHL2k9. I wept. Feel free to point and laugh at me Volourn, I am at my weakest and you seem to enjoy it.

Spore is out, and cracked, on the internets.
Hurlshort replied to Deadly_Nightshade's topic in Computer and Console
Second hand sales really seem to be more of a console issue today. I don't know any stores that still trade in PC games. -
It's not a shipping date, it's a release date. That's a vague term which can mean shipping, or it can mean the game is in stores already and can't be sold until that day. EA often ships games early, Madden is sold at midnight of the release date in many sores as a promotion. Regardless, I just called Best Buy. They got it in today and it's ready for me to go pick it up! Woohoo!
-
Some guy at Best Buy said they will have it at 2:00 today, although he said the computer conflicted and said tomorrow. I told him there was a crisp $5 in it if he got it in my hands today. I'll try calling around this afternoon, regardless.
-
Eh, Gamestop is telling me tomorrow. Heads will roll.
-
Yes, but you've already admitted to pirating games, so your opinion is moot.
-
a point i've made a million times. I can see them staying out of the marriage business. If they just stuck to civil unions, we wouldn't have these issues. But as it stands, some couples are not afforded the same rights as others, so it's a pretty clear civil rights violation.

Somebody kick the jukebox, it's stuck on the same song.

That was not really what I needed to hear I'm sorry to be the one to tell you... ... Maybe Akella will do unexpectedly good and manage to develop a series of fun Disciples games. Unexpectedly good? Akella was behind Heroes of Might and Magic V, and that was very well received. Akella behind HoMMV? Wikipedia says Nival Interactive developed and published by Ubisoft. My game box and manual confirms this. My bad. Akella did Sea Dogs. I think they licensed the Silent Storm engine from Nival for JA3, so maybe they will use it for Disciples as well. I thought there was some connection between the two in terms of employees as well. Anyways, might be some hope.

Why can't you replay it later on? Th only game I've ever installed more than three times is JA2, and I'd actually have no problem paying for that product 5 times over. Look, I'm not a fan of limiting installs, but pirating is the CAUSE of the situation. Many of you seem to blame the EFFECT of piracy. -

A lot of times major stores don't get games on the release date, at least in the States. But smaller stores like Gamestop get them on time.
