I couldn't disagree more. Doom created the FPS market. Before Doom, you had a couple shareware titles that raked in a few bucks. Doom was a huge financial success in a market dominated by adventure games.

I think so. I actually didn't turn it on until about 15 minutes in. It didn't get good until the mad scientist showed up. The other show I caught the pilot for was Sons of Anarchy. I don't like it. The main guy is terrible, he walks weird, and he's probably going to smoke around his premature newborn son. I can't watch that trash. The supporting cast is great, but it's not enough.

Anyone catch The Fringe tonight? It's a new sci-fi show, JJ Abrams is involved. It actually was pretty entertaining. The mad scientist was very fun to watch.

I'm not surprised the online play is buggy, it's the same with every EA sports game. They make some fixes every year, but one issue is the fact these games only really last a year. So every year they introduce a new title with new bugs. MMO's usually take the first year to get really stable, and they also have the benefit of a longer development time. EA has created a very difficult task for their developers. Anyways,s orry to hear about the wipe. Hopefully we'll see a patch soon that should fix stuff.

I picked Spore up tonight. The nice thing is my wife actually got into playing it. That's really the appeal the game has.

Yes, racism still exists. So does sexism, so it might be a wash in this election. It's tough to say whether it will make a difference because most racists don't really advertise. They'll look for some other reason to vote against Obama and use that. But their real motive will be bigotry. I'm not saying everyone who doesn't vote for Obama is a racist, far from it, but the percentage is probably higher than a few yahoos who wear pointy white hats. I'd hazard a guess at 5% of people that vote against Obama are doing so for racist intentions (mind you, not all those go to McCain) but it could be much higher than that.

I'm not sure what Krook is doing to score so much. Do you use the skill stick a lot? I get a ton of chances and bury only 1 or 2 a game.

Doesn't a blind purchase have to be a game you know nothing about? Have you been living in a cave for the last 8 years? I bought GTA III as a blind purchase. I knew nothing about it, other than the fact that it was based on a funny little arcade game.

Snipers get about 10 extra points in accuracy. But my power forward gets 10 extra points in shot power. It will probably even out over the long run regardless. I lead the team in penalty minutes

Pixies, defense is fun, you get to demolish people. I actually think it's harder than offense though, getting out of position can cost a goal, whereas forwards have more room for error. I'll be home late tonight. I'll try to catch up with you all this weekend. When Krook and I tried to join a club game, we couldn't find a match. Do you need a full squad to get a club match, or can you do it with 2 or 3 people? Volourn, how did you do it?

It's funny, because I've heard dozens of arguments against MMO's. Some are strong, like the problems with grinding and lame playerbases. Some are weak, like complaints about monthly fees. But this is the first time I've heard someone complain about an ONLINE game being ONLINE.

It's actually available on Steam and Gametap, although I've heard there are issues with them. But hopefully they've been fixed by now.

I honestly didn't read that closely. I skimmed a few of the posts and bought it fully.

You can use the character on and offline. I think they level up separately though. Oh yes, you level up your skills. You gain xp for games. There are three different skill trees, offense, defense, and athleticism. Depending on your performance and your class, excuses me, position, you gain xp differently. For example, my power forward is gaining xp faster in athleticism, but a sniper would gain offensive xp faster. Performance is a big factor too, when I get straight A's in my performance I get a nice bit of xp, but it goes down if my performance does. It's also a slow progression, each skill takes about 200 xp to raise, and you gain about 10-20 xp a game. There are a ton of skills too. I need to up my accuracy, my one-timers are waaaaay off.
