So I have discovered to joys of power sanding, and have been stripping off all of the terrible layers of paint that cover up the lovely natural wood in our new fixer upper.

I've always thought I was 1/8th Italian, and so I would lecture people on proper pasta preparation and enjoy biscotti. But then my sister did one of those DNA tests and I found out it is more like 1/16th Italian. Now I struggle with pasta, but at least I don't need to eat biscotti anymore.

Super Troopers 2 - Pretty funny, about on par with the original. The Mounties were fantastic. Also I'm thankful that certain posters use bold fonts, because I find it easier to skip over that way. Why are you guys reading those rants? Pretty sure it's getting copy and pasted onto a bunch of other forums, as well.

Steam has had 15 years to work all that out though. Offline mode was a disaster for like the first ten. is it suppose to be excuse? I think my point still stand, if you want to compete you have to put out more than your opponent Or you offer something different than your opponent. Most new companies don't win by trying to outgun the titans of the industry. The only reason I tried Epic was for the free Thimbleweed Park. I'll keep it installed so I can play Phoenix Point. Seems like a pretty simple market decision. Origin actually launched in good shape with full features, stability, and ran better than Steam on my machine. But I rarely launch it because of the games they are peddling.

I'll stop you right there, because that hasn't changed. All the rest is just white noise. If the stuff that has nothing to do with the game bothers you, then request a refund and don't crowd fund in the future. That will make it easy on yourself.

May have been obvious, but that answers my question to:- Yes, backers receive both Steam/GOG and Epic keys - Yes, even crowdfunding backers can withdraw their pledges, not just people who pre-ordered In other words, the impact of this decision on their backers appears to be minimal. Then again, question is how many backers actually registered the switch - internet drama and sending out emails is good and all, doesn't mean all backers get the memo. For all I know some of the money I sent out to crowdfunded projects are now used to start forest fires. Incidentally, as it turns out, it wasn't Epic that invested into Snapshot games - it was Snapshot games who approached Epic asking about the deal. That first sentence is an outright lie. They said they had the money to deliver on the KS promises. The deal with Epic is just to secure future funding. So they threw their backers under the bus out of pure greed, not even because "whoops we miscalculated and we really need this money to be able to deliver", which is often the case (and while still sad, would at least be more understandable). Offering a refund is just cynical, since they literally just used their backers to get an interest free loan so they would have something to shop around with. If this doesn't have any serious repercussions then then this might just be the deathblow for crowd funding. Teams failing to deliver is one thing (and a risk you knowingly take on when you back) but a successfully funded project in no financial trouble rewriting the agreement when it suits them is something else entirely. I don't necessarily have any interest in getting my money back (hell, since I backed a physical tier me refunding would probably be better for them as that would absolve them from needing to provide the physical rewards). What I want to see is a crackdown on this outright scummish behaviour, if it turns out there is no protection for either backers or pre-order customers (without literally going to court, which besides expensive is also extremely slow, and absolutely not worth it given the money involved) even in the EU (as mentioned previously, Snapshot Games HQ is in Bulgaria) then I fear crowd funding is just dead as that would mean there's literally no guarantee a company will live up to any part of the agreement they have with backers and thus opening the floodgates to this type of behaviour. It's really just a matter of perspective. Were you crowdfunding a game or were you crowdfunding platform availability? It looks like they will deliver the game, so I can't see how the vast majority of the backers won't see it as success, particularly if it is good. The delivery method of the game is a minor part of the agreement we make when backing, so I don't see this affecting crowdfunding in any way. Still waiting on the next Space Quest, btw. I'll take it on any platform or delivery method at this point.

We got the keys to the house we are renting today. We moved into a really nice house last year and overpayed, but the rental market was tough at the time. We don't have the down payment to buy, and the last year moved us further away. Some friends just bought an investment property that they plan on tearing down in two years, and it fit our needs. The rent is low enough so we can save and clear debt. But the house is rough. It needs work, and it needs to be done on a budget. I figure it will be good practice for me, but it is a bit overwhelming. First job is to replace or sand down all the damaged moldings, then paint. I have 2 weeks to do that. Then I need to move everything in.

The Teen Titans Go movie was the best superhero flick so far. They kept referring to Slade as Deathpool, and the songs were amazing. They recreated the Lion King with Batman holding Robin up to the world. Also watched Game Night, which was a fun comedy. Jason Bateman at his best.

A monopoly would come with its own problems though. Why bother with a big sale if you are the only game in town?

Whoa whoa, this is no place for making controversial statements like that. GoT is super relevant and the new season starts in like a month.

I did play the first Witcher, but I never finished it. Stalled out during Act III twice.

I finished Witcher 2 for the first time recently. It took me awhile to get used to Geralt. Like a couple years of false starts before I embraced my inner edgelord. But once I embraced the setting, I had a good time with it. I had it on regular difficulty until the kraken, then I went easy to finish up the story. I'll probably get into the 3rd game in the next few years. Now I'm back at Guild Wars 2 after 5 years off, thanks to the pictures thread. My level 35 fighter shoots a rifle at stuff and enjoys finding vista points. I have a bunch of level boosts, but I'm afraid to use them at this point. It was fun opening 6 years of birthday presents.

That is literally the most important thing for me as a consumer. I didn't buy the game because it was going to be on GoG or Steam, I bought it to play it. Now if they suddenly decided to put it on a separate platform that I don't have access to, that would be a dealbreaker. I'd get my money back. Totally understandable to get a refund in those situations, and it would be wrong not to offer it on their part. Again, it was also a small investment, so the idea that they took advantage of zero interest isn't a big deal to me. Savings account give what, 1.5%? I will not lose sleep over the extra cents they owe me.

It is in my own interest that Julian Gallop continue to be able to make games. I've also got a very small investment as a consumer. Simply put, this isn't like the car analogy because a car is a major investment. It is an asset. The $30 I dropped on this game is nothing. I can spend that parking my car in the city for a day. I just want the game to be good. That is why I paid for it. Their delivery method is not the priority for me. I don't stress whether fedex or the USPS deliver my packages. Heck, UPS apparently doesn't put air conditioning in their trucks. Maybe I'll stop sending packages through them, but I'm definitely not going to care if people send me stuff that way.

My guess is the vast vast majority of gamers could care less about any Epic controversy. More likely just annoyed that they have to install something other than Steam to get it to run. Of course, looking at fig, there were only 10k backers in the first place, so that is not even a huge percentage of what they are probably hoping to sell.

Huh, posted in the wrong thread. I bought the expansions for Guild Wars 2 recently though.

I was pretty put off by this at first, but after hearing about the deal they got by going with Epic, I don't know how anyone can blame them. My dozens of dollars are less important than creating long term stability for their business.

When the Royals won the WS a couple years back with an excellent base running team, I thought steals might come back into fashion, but it looks more like an outlier than a trend.

Seems like a strange move for Phoenix Point, considering they said it would be on Steam during the fig campaign (and the faq still says that.) I wonder if there is a miscommunication? I'd have no problem if it was on Epic a week or two early, but a year sounds crazy.

Doom looks like a SciFi channel feature of the week.
