  1. LETS HAVE A GOTHS VERSUS NERDS WAR! IT'LL BE TOTALLY ORIGINAL!
  2. Sharing time! I am more or less a total wuss. A tablespoon of honey draws more flies than a jar of vinegar. Wussery is more effective for dealing with people than being a jackass. Also more polite!
  3. I respect your right to privacy and have never 'made efforts to find out where you live'. Myself I'm kind of insulted you think I'd try and screw up you career because I disagree with a book you've written by bothering your publisher. Sure I have gall, and I speak my mind, too frequently. But I don't go out of my way to harm others, and I do my best to even help others out when I can. You don't annoy me, anecdotal evidence without facts does, in all sorts of situations. I understand you're concerned about your privacy, I think it's silly, 'specially from lil ol' me, and especially if you write under a pen name. That was all in my opinion, based on how I feel. I can't speak for your motives but I wasn't trying to be insulting. It saddens me that I've put you in such a sour mood and been relegated to 'annoyance' as your posts are overall enjoyable to read, but dang Di, I'm still not sure how I managed to raise so much ire. Like I said, my apologies.
  4. Yes, I'm always thrilled to give details of my personal life to strangers over the internet, particularly those who are insulting and rude to me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Di, I've been polite on these boards, and I've been insulting. I suppose the quoted post could be taken as an insult but it wasn't meant to be. I apologize if it was taken as such. On being paranoid about releasing personal info over the internet. The internet is a scary place, but just like anything else new, the media has generally ripped every single bad bit about it and reported on it and ignored all the 'safe' bits. Mostly because they aren't news. I'm of the opinion that there are good people and bad people on the internet in about the same proportion as real life, though they're generally more honest and/or abrasive because of the anonymnity, so may or may come off as worse than their real life counter parts. So yes, I believe you're paranoid, 'specially 'bout releasing personal information to someone with a face like mine, but understandably so. Wanting to keep your gaming life and your author's life seperate would be no big deal to me, if you actually kept them seperate. The way you do it seems to be more a case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too. I remember PMing you when I first found out you were a writer asking you what you'd wrote/had published because I was interested in purchasing your work. It was polite, no hostility, just interested in reading the books of an internet person I'd talked to. Also you already know plenty about my personal life to downright bury me if you wanted to. I am just saying.
  5. Also, what the hell! This is the second newbie who was courteous and apologetic when they screwed up due to ignorance rather than flying off the handle in a torrent of jackassery and 'Well at least I have a life.' In the span of one week no less! I think I've passed into an alternate reality.
  6. I think it's more "HAHAHA WE R TEH IGN AND WE CAN MAKE REVIEWS BASED ON ENOUGH INFORMATION THAT MAKES THE US INTELLIGENCE FOR IRAQ BEFORE THE WAR LOOK GOOD WITH JUST ENOUGH CREDIBILITY TO TRICK THE STUPID FANBOIS INTO THINKING WE'RE LEGIT! MAY GOD ETERNALLY BLESS MCDONALD'S AND BANNER ADS! ALSO FOX NEWS OUR NEW MASTERS!" Actually, that's eerily similar to most modern news media. Journalism standards have really slipped. Geez.
  7. Speak to Me, Breathe - Pink Floyd Beginning of this song is freaking insane. Gots to turn it up loud enough to hear all the weird sounds though.
  8. She just seems really paranoid to be quite frank. She blathers about how it's because she likes to keep her gaming life and her work life seperate, yet whenever the subject of writing comes up she draws upon her years of experience and many published books for anecdotal examples. She lives within 5-10 miles give or take a few. I'm tempted to start canvassing houses asking 'Are you from the internets?' it's not like there'd be a gigantic amount to go to out here.
  9. I miss my bedroom cactus garden. I had to get rid of them because when I came home from boarding school the cats kept eating them and getting their mouths horribly stickery. I even had one that made fruit I could eat.
  10. More people in real life think my name is 'Jimmy' or 'Jim' rather than James because I've been using one or the other basically forever. Which is kind of what I meant. Seriously though, because of the sheer amount of people on the internet there are probably more who know me by aliases. Not like I'm particularly secretive with information anyway. I've posted my picture on several forums, if anyone asks I tell them where I live, hell sometimes I even hand my address out because it's so dang hard to find I really don't expect anyone without directions to do so. Still wish ~Di would let on to where whe lives so I could walk over and say hello. "
  11. I've got to say I'm worried very little about this. Take Two is probably the best publisher I can really think of at the moment, besides self publishing developers. I doubt they'll 'stifle creative freedom'. Most the people there, looking at the games they make, seem to honestly like games.
  12. The potted plant by the fireplace not enough for ya? (Actually, is that a good place for a plant? Extreme heat is not good for most varieties, I think.) I like detail, too, if it can make each house feel different, as though it's been personalised at least a little. NWN suffered from huge, empty houses with long, empty corridors all the same. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I can tell that plant looks to be a bromeliad, which is the same family of plants Aloe Vera is from, as well as many desert dwelling cacti like plants. Many of them would thrive in hot, dry environs, so long as water is poured down the top of them periodically.
  13. I wonder if I could make a case for my various internet names being just as much my names as my legal one. More people certainly know me by those than as 'James Thomas Griffith III'. Seriously.
  14. If it's already in development that means it's PNJ, in which case I will be pissed as thus far it sounds console exclusive. That means I'll either have to buy a 360, or not play it. Lame. Really though Sur is right. I just needed to get that out. PISSED Obsidian! You getting that?
  15. Keep that which is not to be publicly known, private by using the PM system. -Authority
