A discussion of Global Warming
exactly Scrogdog! which was my point .. to shed some light on the subject, I think too many are simply accepting it because it's illustrated logically .. but without all the data we can never know for sure! I don't believe we are causing the current effects .. but we are influencing it! I mean even though it's only 1% it still has an effect, but we need to be more realistic and more precise .. I'm not saying we should pollute away, but I just want governments to stop using The Greenhouse theory as an escape goat to pull away attention from bigger problems! and the fact that they are making money on it by taxation (in Denmark) makes it even worse imo..

What is your Alignment?
Seems like I should read up on my DnD alignments again .. ^_^ But I think your right a Good Neutral then .. with a tendency to Chaotic from time to time .. and Laozi .. It seems more like you'r Chaotic Neutral!

A discussion of Global Warming
yeah, why listen to scientists who actually know what they're talking about, when we have geniuses like yourself telling us otherwise... i mean, it is not 100% certain. let's just say "screw the environment". what happens, happens... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just want you to think for yourself .. guess that's too much to ask for? I provided you with alot of information and a link to page where 17000+ scientists are claiming that The Greenhouse Theory is an exaggeration and that indications are that a higher concentration of CO

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
Well, atheism is just another creed to me. The sentence I quoted is as much a dogma as the immortality of the spirit. People who wield a dogma as a counter to another dogma always bring up a chuckle with me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well that's how it usually works .. most people need system to work out a choerent world view, it's bloody tiresome to rebuild everything from the ground! And I don't have anything against anyone who believes in a system, as long as they recognize that their's is not the only "thruth" .. and that such a thing is subjective! (which is imposing my views on others .. well I guess we all have double standards! ) Indeed. People who claim to use logic to explain things that logic was never meant to explain strike me as either extremely arrogant, or extremely narrowminded. I don't know what's worse. However, I don't like the idea of "anything goes" very much, either. I choose to think that science is enough to explain the limited parcel of reality that we perceive (even if it's not as we perceive it), and then some. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I'm not going for a "anything goes" kinda perspective either .. I just found science and logic inadequate to explain reality properly! so I went looking elsewhere..

New Pope
But don't hold your breath!

What is your Alignment?
no .. because I still belive in doing good or evil .. I want a good society, and I want to help others! and as far as I understand neutral it's more about what works than how it works ..

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
yet people always seem to apply the rules of Science on everyting in our world .. God does not exist, there is no proof! where's the scientific data? There is no meaning of life! we have no free will, since everything behaves according to ceartin rules we can't escape (no need to quote Quantum Physics/Mechanics, I've read it, but people use this argument alot) .. we trap ourselves in logic boxes, killing some creative thoughts and human values .. and that's where I say no ..
-
New Pope
No .. of course your right! Exactly! "

What is your Alignment?
hmm .. I thought I was Chaotic Good for a long time! but then I read that every chaotic really hates authority and will go to some lengths to piss 'em off from time to time .. and I never do that! I respect society and laws, but if it's necessary to break them to better help someone (and I'm talking midly here) I will do it in a heart beat .. sometimes I'm lawful Good .. sometimes I'm chaotic good .. sometimes I'm Chaotic Neutral .. and sometimes I don't really give a ****ing **** about anything!

A discussion of Global Warming
of course we influence it, but the question is how much .. I hate the fact that goverments use this theory to instill fear into the population and blows it out of proportion.. and alot of evidence contradicts the world famous "greenhouse theory"! It has become such a pop-icon of science and everyone who agrees are automatically considered intelligent and "in"! People are just taking these kind of things as facts without actually taking the time to research it through..
-
New Pope
He's a Christian and wants Christianity to remain what it is, and not some fancy pop-religion who needs to modernize .. I strongly disagree with him, and I don't like anything he stands for, but with the borrowed eyes of a religious person he's a good choice!

Well, it looks like it totally blows.
At milliway! the restaurant where you never run out of time!

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
I wish you the best of luck with that then! ^_^ but I still don't believe that you will ever be able to truely measure such things, since your "religion" is rooted in substance .. but I would love to be proved wrong!
-
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
In science, things without substance, like morals, religion, art are unverifiable and in some cases labeled as not existing .. how can you meaure culture or faith? how can you describe it when using science? you can't .. you have to resort to some kind of psychology .. that's inadequate to me, it's not good enough .. so I needed to expand my view of reality and perception .. something which only focus on the subject/object leaves out important things!
-
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
yes more like a healthy skepticism .. like I said two posts ago "my main grief with regular sience is that it sets object as the ultimate truth .. which in my mind cancels out alot of human ideas .."
-
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
I must admit I took a more extreme stance to provoke a discussion .. but that's all part of the fun .. But it's not futile to communicate, since I want to improve myself and learn, and the only way to do that is interact with your surroundings .. since I the best way to learn about myself is reflection upon my own reflection .. as I stated above, that's touching slighty on Satre's "We apply meaning to the world" .. So no it's not a world view of futility and despair! Am giving you a small sense of purpose by allowing you to express yourself and vice versa ..

The useless information thread!
Not really: bellum means war <{POST_SNAPBACK}> really? hmm .. thought it was Bella .. well you learn something every day! which was kinda the reason I made this thread!

What games have you been playing recently?
damn .. well reality is subjective, and I choose to believe in my own! :D
-
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
I really hate that I don't have so much time now .. which means I make mistakes in my arguments! grr.. and I have been a little extreme in my opinions to try and explain them, which have caused some inconsistensies! So I will try to explain myself better this time .. I hope it works! ^_^ I believe in a modified Emperical view .. (quoting Robert Pirsig here) since it claims that all legitimate human knowledge arises from senses or by thinking what the senses provide. But most empiricsts deny the validity of any knowledge gained through imaginiation, authority, tradition or purely theoretical reasoning! and things like morality, religion and metaphysics are unverifiable. Because of the assumption that all these things are not objects and anything which can't be classified as an object or a subject isn't real .. but I believe these things are verifiable.. I still believe experiance is the starting point of all reality! But if we view quality or excellence as the ultimate reality then subjective thruths are possible, which means we must strive for, what we believe, is the highest excellence .. my main grief with regular sience is that it sets object as the ultimate truth .. which in my mind cancels out alot of human ideas .. (I hope this was adequate and not as inconsistent with everything else I've written, I've been working too long hours all week, so my time is short and my brain is fried .. which causes mistakes, by hey we are all human here .. at least I hope! but who knows ..)
-
What games have you been playing recently?
You won't just win with numbers in that game .. you can build the strongest infantry army, but if you lack spearmen you'll get totally beaten if the enemy has horses .. and while you can play like you describe you can also choose to play more strategic .. and more realistic! which I do ..
