  1. I'll be getting a PS5 as my PS4 Pro Pro. Get on my savvy level!
  2. It is rather interesting that Cain & Boyarsky's dream game is releasing around the same time as Bloodlines 2. It will be interesting to compare the two and contrast against previous generations of these sorts of games. I somewhat get the sense that Bloodlines 2 is going to be the more stilted game combat wise of the two, but it's showing strong signs that it will be delving deep into lore including the exploration of the more modern 5e setting. Whether all of that translates into the logic of a game I think is the big question.
  3. Another fantastic piece by Lindsay Ellis. A few thoughts. 1. It's not like Disney's history is gone. At least they aren't endorsing their historical content, and they have re-released old material with a preamble to disavow the content. I don't buy that they are trying to bury the past, it's just their most recent statement of intent. In some ways they are actually dredging up the past as a result. Though in a dangerous way, which Lindsay does sort of touch on, being Disney's "racism blind" take on historically placeable works. It's more like Disney is saying "it's okay to shirk our responsibility to accurately depict the past" to current generations. Liberating people virtually through carefully constructed, monetization theme parks and portals-de-la-film seems to be Disney's modus operandi. 2. By only partially reworking the internal logic of classics, they basically deconstruct their own forced message by showing how the added side narratives fails to win they day, as the original thrust of the story inevitably wins out in the end. This seems to usually happen around some sort of identity narrative, which tries to say "remember, Z type person is part of the solution too" when the story is just a particular one-off capturing of a particular turn of events. Those works are in no way a statement on how "X type person solves Y problem for Z type person." There is usually some archetypes relating to jealousy, ego, and folly as the villain which is overcome through some embodiment of virtue or responsibility by a hero. Simba was not meant to be a "girls have to be saved by boys story" but by trying to prove that girls don't need saving in the remake, they make it about just that... Disney has been on a roll for being wack recently. 3. The Banks being pinkos but obsessed with their material identity. That's super hilarious. That somehow passed me by (probably because I fell asleep during the middle of the movie.) I always felt that remake was a confused soulless husk of a film. It's trying to have it's cake and eat it too. Or is it eat the rich but eat the cake too?
  4. Hopefully a company SpaceV exists so we can get moon vampires.
  5. Did VTMB go out of it's way to be a cheesy, or was that a side effect of the fidelity of games back then. Doom, RE, and others are hardly horror now. GTA3 is hardly shocking compared to what came later, and GTA6 is deliberately being over the top. I'd imagine we'll still have comedy and charm, but I think the original was still trying to capture a real lived in world for role-playing sake. The bar has changed for what needs done for that. OG Deus Ex is practically a comedy / campy action flick of a game in hindsight.
  6. I absolutely adore Mattafix, I find their songs creeping into the back of my mind often. This one especially.
  7. That's insane. Imagine someone UVing a **** onto your car though.
  8. I think Dave Chappelle may be the greatest living comic. I saw only the Jussie clip off the new special but if that is anything to go by it seems he'll be keeping that title with me.
  9. Yoooooo, Amplitude going in hard!!!!
  10. I saw Beauty and the Beast in theater. Something felt off and sub-par the whole watch. It wasn't until I watched Lindsay Ellis' video that it really sank in just how bad they mangled the narrative. I think in the back of my mind I was sort of implicitly defaulting back to my conception of the film, and was leading myself along. When you really break down it's newly contextualized take, the whole thing becomes utterly hallow and nonsensical. Not that the original didn't have it's issues, but it was more of it's message being askew than it's foundational structure.
  11. If you shot the ring to mordor with a trebuchet, the eagles might just knock it out of the air. I hear they are unionized and are entitled to some of the labor of destroying the ring.
  12. I thought the eagles made sense. They had to sneak into mordor, the eagles were just there to get them out. It was understood there was no making it out otherwise. The eagles were used sparingly because moving against the forces of Morgoth was costly, plus the eagles themselves are sentient and self-preserving.
  13. The earliest polls I saw of Biden weren't stunning, then I saw a concerted media effort to boost his scoring by re-framing poll reporting and altering collecting methods. No doubt there is something to the self-fulfilling nature of polls, at least for being pragmatic in the primary in prep for the generals. But... I would not be surprised if Biden was not nearly as ahead as recent mainstream polls have been suggesting. I don't know many "outsiders" who actively report or participate in the antics of the machine.
  14. Either a dude trying to give people SSB. Melee setups, or some dude trying to pass off the disposal of cathode ray tubes onto others.
  15. 99 Luft is one of my favorite songs.
  16. Loot boxes are fascist evil #ThisPostMayBePaidForInPartOrWholeByVolo
  17. End Game is hardly garbage. Though Infinity War was much better. It's not a deep masterpieces, Just solid fun imo. The narrative capital of a decade makes it better than most films. I think that is a large reason they sell so well too. Avatar was mostly just James Cameron's name and fancy new production techniques (CGI + 3D) that earned all the money. I feel the sequels won't be as commanding. I remember the escapism aspect was cited as a reason for people going back to the theatre. Wanting to be blue luminescent semi-nude cat elves that commune with nature while sharing an organic VR dreamscape with some sort of gaia incarnate really seemed to appeal to the modern displaced dysphoric godless urbanites. It even had an in-universe way to realize an escape into such an existence. However, I'm ot sure that dream will sell for another 4 movies though. I just want to see how Cameron does when returning for all those alleged under-water sequences that he has apparently concocted for Avatar 2 & 3.
  18. I take astroturfing seriously. Get it off my lawn!
  19. Murcof - Martes is one of the finest albums I've heard. I wish it got more love. @algroth
