  1. Is that a fake. I don't even know what that is in the background, but it seems like someone ought to have filtered it to look affected by the atmosphere rather than just pasting it in.
  2. I understand Borderlands is kinda like a mmorpheger. You do the same areas over and over again in cooperative mode. I was underwhelmed by the gameplay video, but I could be wrong. Has anyone actually played it.
  3. Because all that real poontang would make them entirely forget about graphic representations.
  4. Approximately 80% of everything sucks. How many times have you listened to an album and concluded that there were only 3 or 4 tracks that you liked.
  5. It has been my consistant observation that popular mostly sucks, this is because you can't please everyone, and because you have to sacrifice too much in trying to do so.
  6. You know, like the new Indiana Jones. It's like Lucas went back in a time machine and destroyed an important segment of your childhood.
  7. It's worse because it killed the part of your soul that though the new star wars would be awesome.
  8. Ehh.. It never occurred to you that this is still a male-oriented and male-dominated world? Are you sure we live in the same world ?.
  9. Those are great examples of things that are awesome. You thought episode one was fab ?. I mean, too much face time with child actors, Jar Jar Binks, the Amidala-Skywalker romance. It had it's moments, but come on they were far in between.
  10. Really, it's a compliment. If you have strong opinions and don't want to compromise them, and don't suggar-coat your opninions about what doesn't work either, I suppose that makes you a snob. Well, the best in anything are all snobs to some degree.
  11. You are suggesting that we should feel ashamed about looking at breasts, that it's juvinile. Whether pixel or not I reject the implication.
  12. Well obviously it does matter, but the pixel rack is still nice... Also...
  13. A nice rack is a nice rack, doesn't matter if it's human or pixels.
  14. I never thought I would say this about a movie, but there is too much hyper violence for it's own sake. It's just bad taste.
  15. The only casualties suffered on the American side were due to accidents, I think you call that punishment.
  16. Yes, the conspiracy has been successful and now it won't go away. Not untill we get so fed up we puke at the mere mention. Like Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles, Crockodile Dundee, Episode One for a more recent example.

I figured you meant the Japanese movie version. Anyway I remember an animated version called the monkey king or something from when I was a wee lad.

Haven't seen it, but I probably will now thanks. While it is certainly not unprecedented to write about cinema, there would have to be copious ammounts of secondary literature and some kind of lasting secondary context. You could write about Apocalypse Now in the context of the Vietnam era for instance. IIt can't just be because it's a good movie, you are going to run out of times you can mention that pretty quick.
  19. These stories create themselves. Do you think this would have been news if he had died after watching anything else. There is some kind of giant conspiracy afoot to make Avatar into a phenomenon rather than your standard effects driven blockbuster.
  20. As the final part of my Japanese studies I'm supposed to write an extended essay/project. You would think that after having studied it a while, finding something interesting enough to warrant writing about would be easy. Not so much actually. It could be anything contested or worth examining in Japanese literature, social science, what have you. PS Anine does not interest me in the least.
  21. I don't know if I would call that a war as much as bombing run diplomacy.
  22. I dunno, I didn't much care for the whole earth melting from the inside out thing. By the way the Russian millonare is a Danish actor, not that well known or anything, I wonder how he landed that role.
  23. Don't ever compare the movie and the book on equal terms, they are different species. There is no way you can do a 600+ book justice in two hours, and you shouldn't try to be 'true' to the book. You should simply make the best movie you can.
  24. WMD is a scareword that resonates well with the public if you are thinking about invading. Chemical and bilogical weapons are horrid, but they are not nukes, and nukes constitute the only credible threat Sadam could have posed to anyone, and those it would not have been difficult to keep him from obtaining with a credible threat. This was done with the long term strategic aim in view, and because there was sufficient military adventurism to make it possible. The Irony here is that Iran is a much greater threat now than Sadam was at the time, but now that willingness to military engagement is long spent, and of course there is no pretext to invade Iran. If we are going to start invading every country actively seeking nukes the list is very long. While some of these long term strategic goals may have made sense at the time the reason given to the public was the one they could sell best, hardly the most important one.
  25. People have different tastes in music, surprise. Why don't we start a thread on the various merits of blue cheddar, and we can finally set down an absolute criteria for what tastes good and what doesn't. I guess I'm with Nihilus in thinking they mostly stopped making good hiphop two decades ago... mostly.
