  1. I've got two cores and 4gb of RAM. Regardless of my CPU speed and graphics card, my comp can consistently handle running two games at once at the same performance level it does if only one is open (typically flawlessly).
  2. Hmm. I'll have to reserve judgement then. But most games I've played that do it that way end up giving you less XP (and loot, but that's a non-issue for this game) for non-violent routes (including NWN2 most of the time). Cheers Rorie. *sigh* Now the OCD person inside me is going to go nuts if he doesn't pick every single lock and hack every single computer on a level. Lockpicking opens doors, hacking controls turrets or cameras or whatever. Those should be reward enough.
  3. It annoys me when games use names like 'pistol', 'rifle', or 'shotgun'. So I'm glad Obsid is going for unique weapon names.
  4. So I just watched Iron Man. It was pretty awesome.
  5. Somehow I can't see that, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Bos_hybrid is correct though. Read Sawyer and Rorie's comments. The only way said bar could be a holster zone is if it were a no combat zone. Either way the RP aspect of toting a gun or to holstering it is removed.
  6. I typed "space sci fi" into Google and this is what I got: http://www.ugo.com/movies/top-50-hottest-s...?cur=space-girl
  7. Yeah, I ****ing hate disappearing bodies. My biggest beef with NWN2. At least ****ing wait till I leave the room for the body to disappear if your engine is so **** it can't handle corpses on the ground, but no... FFS.
  8. Again with removing variety. Way to go Blizzard. Dio 2 had that too. No it certainly didn't, except for rare niche weapons introduced by the xpack (orbs, claws, amazon javs and bows). It was an annoying shift, but largely immaterial since all the main weapons were freely usable by any class. But, for example, it's patently stupid not to allow Wizards to use certain weapons (such as axes) when we know for a fact that the battlemage is one of the 3 skill trees for the wizard!
  9. I have to say I miss the old Diablo. Check out the music in this gameplay clip. We need that **** back. And also note how monsters were harder (in strategic way) in D1 than they were in D2.
  10. The stats are auto assigned in D3. Well that's ****. Way to remove variety from the game, Blizzard. Being able to assign stats yourself was one of the reasons the game was so replayable. Sure they weren't as interesting as skills, but yould make 2 or 3 different builds per class purely based on stats. Again with removing variety. Way to go Blizzard.
  11. Maybe because the picture only shows four classes to choose from? Shaman (?), Warrior, Sorsoress, Monk. I'd be shocked if it had fewer than pre-expansion DII and that symmetrical arrangement suggests at least two more. They've already said there will be 5 classes for the normal game. Expansions will add more.
  12. Are you awarded skill points for doing/solving things, or for killing enemies? I hope to god it's for solving things like in Bloodlines or Deus Ex. Otherwise it really ****s up with stealth attempts when you have to decide whether you want the fun of stealth, or the XP of the kill - effectively penalising the player for going stealth. I know this isn't Diablo or NWN, so it's probably going to be based on actions, not kills, but I just wanted to check.
  13. The devil is in the details, so I applaud you Obsidian. That's so awesome. It's exactly the type of consequential gameplay I've been hoping for in AP.
  14. Oh lord. Or, you guys could just wait and see the end result, instead of going ballistic over partial info... It's nice to see people defend the devs but in this matter there's nothing left to find out - your weapon is always out. They've said that. That bars any NPC reactions to the fact that you're waving a gun in the faces of civilians, guards, diplomats, etc. Quite ridiculous.
  15. I haven't got much room left on my Windows partition, but I can free space. I figure this game will run fine since my Mac has 4gb of RAM, a Geforce 9400 M, and a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo. 2Ghz Core 2 Duo is faster than a 2.4 Ghz single core right?
  16. Texture errors are pretty bad for the atmosphere/immersion. I'd take lower graphical quality over texture errors anyday.
  17. Newton had an approximation that works at local distances, and non-relativistic speeds (i.e. distances across Earth, and as long as you're not close to the speed of light). He didn't considered the distortion of space-time or anything (which is what we now basically define gravity to be). Apparently gravity waves do exist, because we observe their effects in things like pulsars. These scientists are trying to observe gravity waves directly, however, as predicted by various subsets of QM and string theory, and failing.
  18. Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed to discover this, too. I figured it'd be something more like Deus Ex where there are plenty of neutrals around for you to interact with, talk to, receive quests from, and, if you want, fight. You know, like an RPG. I thought it was a really nice touch in Deus Ex when people ran from you if you waved a gun in their face.
  19. **** this is hard. Choice of: Deus Ex 1, Planescape: Torment, Fallout 1, and Diablo 2, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, and Age of Empires 2. Diablo 2 is probably the game I've had the most raw fun with, followed by JJ2 or AOE2, but they're not the best games (while Torment, Fallout, and Deus Ex are).
  20. Some ideas (some are end of world, some are are just comforting downers): The End is the Beginning is the End - Smashing Pumpkins Do You Love? - Natalie Imbruglia (it always struck me as a sad song about the end of the world) Blackhole Sun - Soundgarden All Along the Watchtower - Bob Dylan Until the End of the World - U2 Beside You In Time - NIN Right Where It Belongs - NIN Dumb - Nirvana All We Have Is Now - The Flaming Lips Do You Realise? - The Flaming Lips Ironic - Alanis Morissette And right before the end: Ride of the Valkyries
