A return to court quest - bug?
fiddlesticks replied to MR67's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Only two quests automatically fail if you don't complete them before finishing Act 2. One is the one you mentioned in Ondra's Gift, the other is Aloth's companion quest. Everything else can still be finished in some form, so don't worry. -
Sort of, I guess. The achievement didn't trigger for me due to issues with the save file, but I'm reasonably sure I met all the requirements. Once someone actually properly unlocks the achievement, I'd imagine they'll post about it either here, on the Steam forums, or the subreddit. Frozen Crown Solo doesn't require upscaling, so I'd assume neither does The Ultimate. Otherwise, it'd presumably be specified in the achievement's description. No idea about old save games, but PoE is usually pretty good about preserving stuff between updates, so it probably works.

Concelhaut isn't that difficult since you can easily kite him and his pals. Funnily enough, on my first Ultimate attempt, Concelhaut's missile spell was reflected by the Aila Braccia, killing him instantly. Llengrath, on the other hand, might be the toughest fight in the game. My strategy involved lots of running around in circles and abusing chokepoints, but I don't think it's 100% reliable. Luck definitely played a role for me. Not as far as I know. Hiring any companion after Cilant Lis immediately disables the solo achievements. You'll have to live without the items from the Caed Nua adventures. Someone on this forum mentioned that high Con will also let you survive the finale of WM2. There's really no reason not to pick up the helmet though since the associated quest is pretty easy.

Most of the good Wizard buffs can be replicated with easily craftable potions though. A Druid with Wizard's Double has the same Deflection score as a Wizard with Arcane Veil, but isn't limited by duration or per-rest restrictions and doesn't have to invest in a talent. Plus, being on the frontline allows you to make the most out of Nature's Vigor.

You're not missing anything. A Fighter's base Deflection is 30. It used to be 25, but got buffed by five points in 2.03. Paladins used to have 25 Deflection as well, but then it was nerfed to 20. Currently, a Paladin with maximised Faith and Conviction and the Deep Faith talent will get +10 Deflection (putting him or her on the same level as a Fighter) and +20 to all other defences. Faith and Conviction's bonus used to bigger before 3.0 came out, but I don't know if the recent nerf is intended or a bug.

New Steam Achievements Bug ?
fiddlesticks replied to OvErMiNd13's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Here's the new output log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x0jd1313dyx0ou5/output_log.txt?dl=0 Steam reported that all files were succesfully validated, so I doubt anything has changed. Perhaps a clean reinstall would be the best course of action at this point? Oh, it's no trouble at all. I have to thank you for putting so much effort into a minor issue that only seems to affect me. I really appreciate it. -

Here's the output log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x0jd1313dyx0ou5/output_log.txt?dl=0 And here's the re-uploaded save: https://www.dropbox.com/s/itqw51gg7u5kcm4/840d3aa6c20741e988c2d28d4c8cd98d%2034854985%20SuninShadow.savegame?dl=0 I'm not using any mods, so I don't know what could cause the issue. Is the save not loading at all for you? -
New Steam Achievements Bug ?
fiddlesticks replied to OvErMiNd13's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Sure thing, here's the last save I have. It should be right after defeating Thaos and talking to Skaen. https://www.dropbox.com/s/udrfpiqt0a9dcx1/840d3aa6c20741e988c2d28d4c8cd98d%2034854659%20SuninShadow.savegame?dl=0 Restarting Steam sadly didn't fix the issue. Thanks a lot for taking a look. -
New Steam Achievements Bug ?
fiddlesticks replied to OvErMiNd13's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Once again, I'm very sorry about reviving this old topic. I just wanted to point out that The Ultimate achievement still doesn't seem to be working correctly as of 3.02. Frozen Crown and Frozen Crown Solo both unlocked after activating the machine at the very end of the game, but The Ultimate didn't. It's possible that I simply missed one of the necessary requirements, but if so, I don't know which one. Frozen Crown Solo unlocked, so that part is obviously fulfilled. Both archmages are dead, I have the Bestiary entries for the five dragons, and the journal shows that I completed all 23 bounties in the game. -
Well, let's see. An Aumaua with the Living Lands background could start with 21 Might. After that, there's: +1 from the Gift of the Machine talent +1 from sacrificing Eder to the Blood Pool +1 from Galawain's Boon +4 from the Maegfolc Skull +4 from the Hammer of Abydon +3 from the resting bonus in Caed Nua +2 from one of the prostitutes in the Salty Mast +10 from the Champion's Boon spell So unless I'm missing something, the highest Might you can attain in the game is 47. Not too shabby.
-
They're not that hard to solo, just really tedious. Unlike most other bounties, the enemies in those two fights will never stop chasing your character, so you have to spend five to ten minutes running around in circles and slowly plinking them to death. Though at least Brynlord's map has a semi-decent choke point you can abuse.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll wait until 3.02 is properly released then. -

Sorry for dredging up this old topic, I just wanted to make sure I understand this correctly. I'm playing the non-Beta Steam version of the game and currently have an Ultimate run sitting outside Sun-in-Shadow. If I go in and defeat Thaos, will the achievement unlock, or is that still a Beta-only feature? And if it's the latter, will this be changed once 3.02 is released for the normal version? -
The description for the Accurate Wounding Shot talent states that it increases the accuracy of Wounding Shot by ten. However, judging by the combat log the modifier is only applied to the Hobbled status effect, not the actual attack itself. This might be intentional, but if so the description is somewhat misleading and the talent a lot less useful than it appears to be. Also while I'm at it, what exactly does Marked Prey do? The description says it gives +20 damage, but that can't be right. Is it simply a 20% increase?
