the word "leader" is misleading. While he used to be affiliated with the State-Leadership of the AfD in Brandenburh (the state surrounding Berlin), he is now leading the AfD only within a small voting district in the same state. Regardlessly, this is, of course, highly amusing news.Out of curiosity since you're there, are there any 'educated guesses' in Germany as to what his reasons are for the conversion? What I saw was 'personal reasons' with no elaboration.I only saw the same. Though the AfD did say something about freedom of religion, so maybe (if we get a bit conspiratorial) the AfD wants to show that they too can tolerate Muslims; in a fashion similar to how Breitbart uses Milo to claim their acceptance for homosexuality. Seriously though, I have no idea Breitbart doesn't accept homosexuality?

Eh. I actually find Morrissey to rate relatively low on the celebrity douche scale.

While using a proxy server can be a wise choice, Net Neutrality or lack of it really shouldn't influence your decision regarding one. NN has nothing to do with protecting your data or 'staying safe'.

That is still double posting. Then the definition of 'double posting' has certainly lost much of it's meaning. The definition of double posting has always been exactly what it says and what it was since usenet: to post twice in succession in the same thread. Nothing more and nothing less. That's a lot easier to do and more excusable in systems with no subthreading like most forums (especially if the built in quote function is, uh, erratic if you try and do just about anything with it) and less excusable in those which do have subthreading like usenet or its rough modern equivalent reddit- but it's still double posting if you do it. No, Posting twice in succession in the same thread is absolutely not what 'double posting' means on a forum. If you've actually thought that's what it's meant since the days of Usenet (which still exists btw), welcome to one of your long held misbeliefs. Some pre-Eternal September forum junkies are no doubt grunting or something in their proverbial graves right now. I'm here hoping what I'm now doing is more productive than farting underground. I suggest you dig a little deeper as to what it means. There are two related definitions that do indeed go back to pre ES days, and they're out there to be found. A third definition, slightly less related to the first two, yet related somewhat to what you think it means, is usually the result of a mistake on the part of the poster. Honestly, you surprise me Z. You're one of the most astute people here. Rare is it for you to be so mistaken about something as simple as this.

speaking of intelligent communication, I fixed these for you, I'll spare you the correction of your typo.

That is still double posting. Then the definition of 'double posting' has certainly lost much of it's meaning. Like so many other things I suppose. At the rate society is losing it's ability to intelligently communicate I wager than in a few generations a large portion of it will be dumbed down to the point where they'll effectively just be grunting at each other all the time. They won't even be smart enough to vote for Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho. Concepts like liking money, plants needing electrolytes, and batin' will be beyond them. -------------- Eh... There's other ways to effectively 'get out of jail free' with the cops who this works with. Most cops aren't all that picky on which PBA or the like you support. Just have a sticker of one on your car, a license plate frame, etc and many will appreciate it. Will that appreciation translate into 'getting out of jail free'? By itself, probably not actually. Your traffic/criminal record, level of courtesy, and other factors factor in most of the time. And these days, so does the camera on the cop's car or body. If you really want to avoid traffic tickets however, don't drive like an idiot, make sure your car is not visibly in violation of something just sitting there (make sure your headlights work, registration is not obviously out of date, etc), and get yourself a good radar detector. Avoid getting pulled over to begin with. Edit:

I didn't see many double posts last thread if any, and none by Ben in this one. Replying to the same post more than once in succession is a double post. Replying to different posts in succession is not double posting.

Blatantly, no, that won't happen. Not yet anyways. Greasing the skids more for them to do it illegal however, yes, there are many people in power that are all for that.

California to register illegal aliens to vote – automatically Well, let's hope this article is erroneous. It's certainly what the evils have been aiming for though, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was correct.

Well yes, and one no doubt increasingly stopped at, as it supports the these days popular narrative that white people all supported the oppression of black people if not outright supported their enslavement. Gotta keep that division alive we do, as divide and conquer is the name of the game that's being won by those playing it, and largely because a lot of people don't even realize it's being played. Pawns they are.

You are inferring that I'm saying that the term is generic for any sort of slave driver. I most certainly is specifically directed at white people. It's etymology stems from it being a descriptive label that marks out someone who indulges in enslavement. Do some people now connect the term to the color of a literal cracker? Sure. But in my experience the misconception mostly starts with white kids (naive by definition) that think people are poking fun at them being pasty, when it's often used to mark someone out as being participants in systemic racism. So really you've just gone and made up some intent that I didn't have in writing, and there was no attempt to form an argument. Mainly describe a fact of origin. Hell, I even went on to describe people using it explicitly as an insult, so the context was right in my post over what the fact I was mentioning was related to. It's etymology actually predates any association with slaves and whip cracking. That meaning that was added later, and not one universally applied.

Probably only a few days. The Senate is where the problem is (as is often the case), and if the Republicans grow some spine they could end it tomorrow by circumventing the retarded filibuster rule which requires 60 votes rather than a simple majority to pass something. Will they do that? Doubtful, as spine is something politicians tend to lack, but it will still only likely last a few days.

Greater context is never a bad thing, but I don't see his explanation as really adding up. A seemingly caveats-free opportunity to solve one of the problems that a whole lot of people are apparently upset about is given to you, and you reject it out of hand. Does he really think the shutdown is going to end within 24 hours? If that ends up being the case, O.K., fair enough...if not...just another thing the Republicans are going to hold over the Dems to try to force their way, just like CHIP when the Dems were all for re-approving it without any questions asked to begin with six bloody months ago when it originally expired. I suggest reading the entire transcript at the link I provided. I also suggest reading trasscripts or watching minutes whenever possible (it often is on CPSAN). What's portray on the major news networks, twitter, in many press conferences, etc is often not what actually transpires on the House/Senate floor. The link you gave was dishonest political garbage put out by the Democratic leadership to sway the public their way. If that wasn't clear before, read the entire transcript and note the multiple attempts. Schumer, one of the Senators from my State, and the Senate Minority Leader, is as evil, dirty, and underhanded as they come. He very well may currently be the most corrupt person in the House/Senate, and that is saying something. If he's not #1 he's definitely on the short list, and has been since his days in Congress. Evidence of this is in the transcript. If that evidence is not apparent, start reading more transcripts to get even greater context, in addition to noting what is said the media. And to be clear for the polarized folks here who in the wake of my post would otherwise immediately feel the need to point out that Republicans are guilty of similar (or worse in their eyes), and probably think I'm blind to Republican evils because I pointed out Schumer : McCain is also on that short list, and Schumer certainly isn't the first evil mofo of such caliber on the Hill, I'm just saying he's probably the worst currently there.

It is truly unwise to take snippits of conversation out of context seriously. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/1301 Unanimous Consent Request--H.R. 1301 Mrs. McCASKILL. Mr. President, this shouldn't take very long. I was most disappointed tonight when the President of the United States put out a statement that tried to divide us based on party when it came to support of our military. There is no such division. Everyone in this Chamber knows it. So, as we have in other instances where we have had a shutdown--I remember, in 2013, we did this right off the bat. I want to make sure that tonight we send a very clear signal that we don't want one moment to pass with there being any uncertainty that any soldier anywhere in the world will be paid for the valiant work they do on behalf of our national security. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of Calendar No. 36, H.R. 1301; that the amendment at the desk, providing for continuing appropriations for pay and death benefits for members of the Armed Services, be considered and agreed to, the bill, as amended, be considered read a third time and passed, and the motion to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table with no intervening action or debate. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Is there objection? Mr. McCONNELL. Mr. President, reserving the right to object, we passed similar legislation during the government shutdown back in 2013. My hope is that we can restore funding for the entire government before this becomes necessary. I am going to object for tonight, but we will discuss it again tomorrow. Therefore, I object. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection is heard. The Senator from Florida. Always use Primary sources whenever possible. It often only takes a few moments to put something quoted in the modern era in context. I am absolutely no fan of McConnell, however what he said is very much misrepresented in your link.

Where did you grow up that you'd never heard the term 'cracker'? Which may have had it's origins in the South, but for at least half a century now has been used all throughout the U.S. as a pejorative for white people. As for the government 'shut down', it's really not worth paying attention to. It's 100% pure political/media generated BS, and an example of evil MFers on a power trip.
