  1. Am I really ? You honestly think the christian right would stand for ramadan as a national holiday, or Eid? As long as no ones stopping you going to church, or celebrating in private. The state if it does indeed claim to be seperate can't show favouritism, even if America was a christian country at some point in history and is still predominantly christian.
  2. Here is why I dont care. The very people who are whinging right now would be the first up in arms where any other religion to celebrated in the same way publically.
  3. http://www.american.edu/ted/hpages/jeruselum/muslim.htm For the jews it's the place where Isac was spared sacrifice and the muslims recon it's where mohamed accended. But they basically nicked it off the Holy Roman Empire (or what was left of it).
  4. Again this is restricted to the public arena. No one is stopping you wishing people merry chrismas and threatening you with arrest are they ? What are cracking down on is institutionalised christianity, like in stores , public buildings etc. On TV , stuff like that. It sort of reminds me of the St Patricks day celebration they had in Dublin, supposedly anyone was invited. But everywhere you looked was nationalist Irish iconography and symbology. Not suprising then , that the Irish who identify themselves with England didnt feel at all welcome.
  5. Maybe, but they are not telling you that you cant go to church services and celebrate in your own way in a non public arena are they ? Now if they were arresting people for doing those things, that would be a totally different matter. I think it's just that christians have taken this stuff for granted for so long that the see it as a war rather than an attempt to balance things up. It's really not suprising they would bring in other faiths, again thats an attempt to balance things up rather than a declaration of war.
  6. It's not like it hasnt all been said before many times over. At the end of the day there is no way they are going to make everyone happy anyway. So it's best to just make a good game that will attract people because it's a good game, rather than make one that tries to sell on the names of the previous two.
  7. It's kind of funny. We live in a country with a patron saint (remarkably similiar to Merlin btw). And we have a state religion, but we are still not anywhere near as radical as the yanks. I guess it's just a laid back society and since everyone is used to the very small c that goes along with the partying and the debauchery as well as the presents, no one really pays it much attention. Heck if I had to work I'd lobby for all religious holidays to be nationalised, so I could get as much extra time off as possible :D
  8. Call of Duty:The Big Red One. Not bad not as much fun as Batalion Wars though.
  9. I would rather have Chris in charge of our days and our nights, Chris in Charge of our wrongs and our rights! And I sing, I want, I want Chris in Charge of me. Chris in Charge of our days and our nights, Chris in Charge of our wrongs and our rights! And I sing, I want, I want Chris in Charge of me. ~ Josh Sawyer classic (thanks to Sargy being a virtual packrat)
  10. That would be a bit like saying just because all of Bram Stokers characters diary entries corrolate that is evidence for Vampires existing.
  11. Be so much better if it was Trinadad and Antiuga.
  12. The slo-motion replay would tend to discredited that theory.
  13. Not really what I meant. What I meant was that by rewarding the extreme alignments in a tangible choice the game encourages extreme characters. I've never played a character that just chooses an option just because it is either dark or light. My character make choices according to their feelings.
  14. We are talking fiction here. Really dont see what the big deal. Unless you think that a female general is going to lead to mass signups or something.
  15. Come to think of it I dont remember any of the prior Roman gods. They were always combining gods and making new ones though. Sulis Minerva of Bath Springs is a melding of Minerva and the old Celtic deity which was venerated at the spring.
  16. Sorry reading the freezing cold bit after those 360's catching fire just made me laugh. Ok wiped away the tears 1. I've seen it before 2. It looks good 3. I have a thing for mech games. Especially the Japanese ones. 4. Still wont be buying a 360. 5. Does it have a release date ?
  17. As far as getting captured goes I think it's pretty even. Er not touching that one.
  18. Yes exactly. Although I dont see why anyone would find that stupid.
  19. Which are ? Priness Leia outranked both Han and Luke and they were generals. I think General is a rank they just give to Jedi on the battlefield I've never heard of a Jedi refered to as any other millitary rank.
  20. He'd been ill for ages. Just not much news about it.
  21. Interesting..
  22. Well how you should play is really down to you. However the character should determine the event not the event determine the character. In other words if you go through the game just clicking the LS/DS/Neutral options, your rather missing the point of what an RPG is. In some ways you can blame the carrot of the mastery bonus. But then I've never liked carrots :D
  23. I dont think it's stupid Especially if you are looking for parelels with eariler texts. Remember the Romans ? They changed the names of an entire pantheon to better suit their purposes.
  24. Well unless he some sort of divine sun protector, he'd be a sort of nutty brown colour.
  25. Wouldnt be the first time an authors picked an easier name to spell. It certainly wouldnt be blinked at today. But people got around a lot less 2000 years ago.
