'fraid not , unless you get a modified one.

I havnt played many of these but I've found the rifles better than the (S)MG's mos of the time. The suppresion thing dosnt seem to work in most which renders the main purpose of the weapon null. They did work really well in Hill 30 (think that was it) where you could supress with an MG and then send people around to flank. I went through TBRO almost entirely with a rifle, got really good at shooting people in the face too from long range.

Even if your not actually dead if you get hit by a WWII bullet you wont feel much like fighting. Regenerating health though is just freaky and strange. If I had designed the game I'd have made the character look a bit like wolverine :D

That makes no sense. It would make sense if normal was the only difficulty, but in most cases it isnt. Anyways I finished Far Cry:Instinct. Last battle wasnt bad but overall the game was very mediocre didnt enjoy it that much. Might give Metriod a spin (never completed it). I agree that tutorials are best if not part of the game. But some people like it because it gives a sense of continuity rather than having a completely different tutorial character (or party) as was the case in BG.

Nice in theory but dosnt work that way. There will always be limits imposed by the system your working on. A DM will do exactly the same thing when running a game for a small group. It's just more fun to fight lots of things than it is to fight a single thing over and over again till you can level. How dull would NwN be if you had to fight one goblin at a time. This is where the group dynamic is important, because without that you have no choice but to change the design to fit. The reason the defences are set low is again because it leads to more dynamic battles where something happens every round. One of the dullest things I can remember is POR II in the very early game and that had a party. It would be so much worse solo. Thats true of most tutorials and is pretty much the point too. It allows people to absorb the rules without having to reload 50 times.

In most cases normal does not refer to realistic. Realistic is generally either a seperate setting, or the highest setting. Normal refers to a "normal" person playing the game and with a difficulty factored on that. I've only seen a few games (not FPS) where the hit location is taken into account on the character. Although most FPS games will take into account where the player hits the enemy.

I'm sure people would be just overjoyed to die 100 times on the first enemy. NwN isnt by the rules anyway. The rules dont have solo play as a basis, or even a character and a henchmen for that matter. Sure a full party of six could face those sorts of creatures and have a hope, but a single first level character cant. The game would be nothing more crossing your fingers and hoping they roll low and you dont. Ditto with KOTOR, if you actually started the game with a party like the IE games, then your wouldnt need that type of fodder. This is more a design than a difficulty issue.

It's painful inititally. I disagree. If I'm breezing through on normal and there are other harder difficulty levels available then I'm a fool if I dont make use of them and instead just whine and complain how easy the game is. I dont think anyone here is normal when it comes to games so it stands to reason that most of the time our difficulty would not default to normal since that is intended for people who dont have a lot of experience with these things. Easy is for people who are just not very good, or getting used to the system.

All WWII games are going to be samey. I just read the review in NoM where they scattered in some other game screens to see if anyone could tell the difference.

It's alright but dont think its suited to a faster paced game. After while it gets kind of annoying. Good incentive not to get hit though. Same with health packs. While they may not be realistic they add some elements to the game that regenerating health does not. You simply need to duck behind cover for a few seconds and your all set.
-
That dosnt actually make any sense though unless the 360 is not all that it's cracked upto be.

The regeneration thing put me right off. I think it's pointless having these grand WWII set pieces if your regenerating like some sort of master chief clone. It totally killed the setting for me. Had more fun with Battalion Wars to be honest, although the attitude of the CO's and the way they hit on each other after the mission (the enemy CO's this is) just feels disrespectful to the poor sods who just got killed. I know it's cartoony, but it just feels wrong.

One of the most disapointing things was it was just better graphics. The game itself really didnt open up at all considering all that extra power you are supposed to have. The wolverine effect just put me right off CoD II anyway. But at least I didnt buy it (played on my cousins kids 360). Similiar with Instinct. In one section you punch your way out of a steel crate, yet for some reason your completely unable to break a bamboo fence. It just reinforces the feeling that your a rat in a maze with only one way out.

I'm in a bit of an FPS mood (not my usual choice of games). I played COD:The Big Red One , kind of liked that. Picked up Farcry Instincts earlier on and was having an ok time with it, then the regenerating health started and the game got dull. Anyone know of any recent FPS games which dont have regenerating health ? It bugs me a lot. Or perhaps I should look at some Rainbow Six or Socom for more realism ?

Taking turn base action out of RPGs...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to a topic in Computer and Console
I'd give it to PST too just because the combat is more varied. Tough call between bloodlines and morrowind. I think bloodlines might be better at the start. But morrowind ends up better where as bloodlines goes downhill if anything. -
Looks like Iran has something in common with Neo Nazi's now.

Your still in the "introduction". Blitzball is tactical, not sure what your specific complaint is there. It dosnt actually matter whether or not you win that particular game (you get an extra cinematic if you do).Did you get the special move on the ship journey ? Sounds like you might be better off just not playing those sorts of games, like me with platform and racing games. -
Oh sorry didnt know there were rules. Just disregard it if it's not handhelds.

Tales of Tempest Tales Team (Namco) Nintendo DS Japan 2005/6

Depends on the contract. It was clear from the start that the 360 wasnt going to set Japan aflame. That became even more clear as games slipped hence the package deals and price cuts (which were lower than the other territories from the start). Cells are not a good example since there are so many of them everyone has to make thiers look as attractive as possible. If the 360 was in fact popular in Japan, then they could have just sold it on it's own. Figures are interesting. The game purchase is below 1 (.9 something) which means a lot of people bought a 360 without any games for some reason. If you want an example from here ToysRus did a deal which was basically if want a 360 then you had to buy at least two games as well as some really rubbish DvD. People took it because they wanted the machine. The Japanese one is a way to sell the 360 by making it look more attractive by offering a good deal. The ToysRus one was selling crap on the popularity of the 360 which is much like some of the PsP packs last year.

Influence: good or bad?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Cassidy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Looks like a lot of people didnt get how the influence system worked and how it applied specifically to the Exile as a character. -
Based on Lord of Chaos, which in turn was based on Chaos for the spectrum (which was based on a very old boardgame that I'm not old enough to remember). I've still got the original MoM (on floppy , more than one as I recall) came across it last time I was up in the attic.
