  1. More people just attract more attention (see LOTR). Gandalf was a demi god though. Point really not found there if your arguing that you dont have to be powerful. Gandalf is the deciding factor in a lot of the pivitol points of the book. Actually it was Gollum. Frodo failed in the end. Ask anyone whose journey they find more interesting and most people will say they just sort of tolerate the Frodo/Sam bits (especially after you have read the books a couple of times).
  2. So you reduce the protogonist to the role of messenger boy. If the new PC isnt as strong, then they really don't have a chance of getting to Sith Space anyway. It's very anticlimactic when someone else saves the day.
  3. It dosnt matter. Real Time is anything which dosnt make you wait unless you want to wait (by pressing pause). It dosnt matter if it's being regulated by "turns" in the background. Or by regenerating AP's. Or even just straight timing , like the reload action in an FPS.
  4. The point isnt which is easier or harder. But rather is it a required feature. FO TB required a lot of waiting. Because your only active character was you. Your companions were all AI controlled and spent most of the time getting in the way. Or shooting the wrong thing. If you only have one character to control why do you need TB combat ? Isnt the purpose of TB combat to allow you to overcome the limitation of only being able to do a single thing at a time ?
  5. Obsidian did a good job of keeping them just in the picture. But without having any sort of real effect on the game they wrote. In many ways you could consider most of it easter eggs for people who played KOTOR rather than defining the story. You have to remember that your not just making a game for people who played KOTOR/II. But you also want a game that someone can pick up and play and make sense of without having played any of the other games. Only an addon should have for a prerequistite playing the game (since the game would be required to run it anyway). Off fighting the true Sith should keep them both out of the way in the same manner. Although your still going to have to do all that LS/DS Male/Female alternate stuff and thus waste time and energy you could be devoting to KIII in it's own right.
  6. It depends on the game structure. If the game was like Morrowind. Only with FO style NPCs hanging around (over which you have no control anyway) you dont need CTB. Having CTB would be a complete waste of time as you could interface directly with the character (you could also give orders in the same manner). It dosnt take a lot to lock onto something in first person , although Morrowind dosnt do it for gameplay reasons. It's a very simple thing to do. Ditto with things like taking cover and stance change. A pause of some kind would be handy for target selection and aiming. As for the writing.. Not much you can do about that.
  7. It's very unlikely Bethesda's FO will be accepted because it's likely to be very different from what made Fallout what it was. Then agian it's been so long, that not expecting changes would be ridiculous. If people want an old style FO that badly, ask someone to do a handheld version. Because thats the only place something like that could still have the same game structure and actually expect to sell decent numbers.
  8. But even if that is the case you still need a protagonist that is their equal or better. If they are not going to be in the game in that sense. Well you havnt really lost anything by killing them and you cleared up a mess of problems.
  9. Tara Strong. Although she does more animation than games.
  10. She's pretty easy to recognise. Drakengard has a serious body count dosnt it. Over 5000 kills and only at the start of chapter II.
  11. Thats generally the way you add additional content. Some people like to level. I've never reached the level cap in KOTOR but some people will sit there and level to the maximum. The point I was making about KOTOR III though is you have to be a Jedi killing machine, or a force god. Because that is what the previous two characters have been. And you have to be on at least an equal footing or the protagonist is a bit pointless. So barring more stupid memory wipes and coming across low level Revan and Exiles. Your pretty much stuck with what sort of protagonist you need if tthe two previous ones are to play a major part in the game. Thats why they are better off either dead. Or out of the way doing something beyond everyone elses comprehension. Personally I'd rather them dead than warped into something they were not in my game.
  12. Well the last thing you need is yet another jedi demi god running around the place.
  13. RPG's but anything with a good story will usually keep me involved long enough to finish it. Why RPGS ? Stories are generally the focus. You have a choice in how you play Average of 40-80 hours play time Replayable without falling into the same practice patterns
  14. Because you then get to start over without anyone elses baggage. If Revan or the Exile are a part of the story , then it's very difficult to stop them overshadowing the current protagonist, especially if said protagonist is a just a regular guy. KOTOR has entered what I call Dragon Ball Z syndrome. Revan was powerful by d20 standards. The Exile and his or her companions were beyond the defintion of D20. Ergo if you are intent on climbing the same ladder, the third protagonist will have to be more powerful again. Since you dont want to arrive only to be completely outclassed by two NPC's. Especially if you don't have a bloody clue who they are having never played the previous KOTOR games.
  15. There is closure. They are off fighting the Sith somewhere. As long as the new story focuses on something else then they can stay out there. If you spend KOTOR III tying up all the loose ends, then thats time your taking away from KOTOR III in other areas.
  16. Whether or not it turns out to be true. It was still funny.
  17. Oh please can I play a whiney 8 year old " Seriously though. You can have a fable style prologue if you want to start the character at that age. But still be an "adult" when the game proper starts.
  18. VI is quite low down on my list. All that messing around switching espers around is annoying. Same goes the special attacks. It's great when you have them as a bonus (like overdrive) but when you have to input them constantly it gets old fast. V is top of my list for a remake.
  19. A very satifiying game. Everytime you destroy one you feel like you really have accomplished something monumental. I've played a couple of levels before but never finished it. Since I ordered part II yesterday seemed like as a good a time as any. That the one with Jennifer Hale ?
  20. Rather liked that one. Very good. Excellent story and ending. The lightning gun worked wonders. Like carrying around a chain lightning spell.
  21. I imagine the 360 version will outperform all but the most highend PC. As for downloadable content. Really not that interested. I move on quick when it comes to games. It's doubtful I will even finish the thing. If I did, it would be a first for an Elder Scrolls game. More than likely I will play around explore for a couple of days , grow bored and shelve it (which is the usual formula).
  22. If I ran a country playing Shadows of Collosus would be mandatory. Finished Run Like Hell. Moved on to Drakenguard. Or at least I will tonight.
  23. It pays well. It's also a profession that dosnt have a "side". Which gives you a lot of freedom of choice.
