What are you playing ? (looking forward too)
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
I really enjoyed that one. After playing short RPGs having something that lasted nearly 100 hours (and I didnt actually complete it, only finish it) was really refreshing. It's also a fantastic game as well which is always nice :D <fingers in ears> I'm totally blocking all reference to FFXII or the days would just drag. -

Should Tatooine and/or Kashyyk be in KotOR 3
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to User Name's topic in Obsidian General
You could always dig him up and then retrap him. Reminds me a little of a D&D game I once did. The party released Tiamat from a mine when they were little tiny adventurers. The campaign then revolved around them traveling around getting various items and enlisting help before she became strong enough to regain her full power. In the end the battled her using the artifacts and the allies they collected and resealed her ready for the next clueless fool who came along :D Dosnt have much to do with KOTORI and II's plots, but as a less scripted adventure it certainly has possibilities. If you were a Padawan you could either set out to destroy Exar (or learn from him which would involve doing various tasks for him mirror image of things you would be doing to stop him). In the end he would either betray you , or you he. Or you would become a powerful enough Jedi to reseal him. So the continuity wouldnt be damaged at all as far as I can see. But I'm by no means an EU buff. I'm a much bigger fan of the some poor smuck being in the wrong place than being some sort of chosen one. -
I'm pretty sure its nothing they havnt already brainstormed on I've heard the name but I dont follow things that closely. Whats so different about nighwing ? Except for the name sounding better

Does anyone else share my dislike of d20?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Jediphile's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Why the hate for Pokemon ? Or is there a D20 pokemon game now ? Well when I was at my RPG playing peak there were a lot of systems. I personally own about 100 or more of the things. Each system would require you to learn it. Some people liked that (I always did) some people hated and wanted something universal where the core rules stayed constant. GURPS is probably the obvious one , core rules with various world books. If you knew GURPS then you could very quickly play any of the world books without having to relearn a new set of rules. These days I would write or adapt some rules rather than buying them. Although source books are always handy. -
Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?

If that were the case I'd have taken his head off rather than his limbs. I'll probably have another look when it comes out on video. Quite a lot of it seemed forced (forgive the pun) to fit in with what had to occur in the OT. -
I usually play as the English or the Celts. If it wasnt in a box in the attic somewhere I'd probably have to dig it out for nostalgias sake.

I think if you worked on that relationship in part II then you could pull off part III without robin coming across as camp. Robin seeing Bruce/Batman as a father figure would work for me I think. I suppose it ultimately depends on what sort of timeframe they work around.
-
I thought Robin would likely be that young kid they saved. I'm glad to hear the comments though. Batgirl has way more appeal.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to jodo kast 5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If he was aware of that then I have no doubt he would have chopped him into very small pieces indeed. Despite the j/k tag thats a very fair point. Is it the Jedi way to stand on the sidelines and watch someone suffer. Heres another question which crops up. Did Obi Wan bait Anakin knowing that his overconfidence would lead to his being segmented ? Or did he actually want Anakin to go floating off down the river of lava to jump off at some other point? -

ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to jodo kast 5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I thought that but it dosnt realy seem to tie in with everything else or Obi Wans character. Like I said in all prior writings like the WEG book , it has Anakin falling out of sight so to all intents and purposes Obi Wan thinks he is gone. -

He's a Jedi he wouldnt even need to go down to retrieve Anakin. I'd say killing him directly would be the lesser evil of watching him slowly go crispy. That would mean that Obi Wan killed Anakin. I actually found Anakin more evil than Vader ever was. -

It's always better to discuss the rules before the game. Players dont like to have things sprung on them and I cant say I blame them. If I am forced to do that (and it does happen) then I write it down and apply it to the rest of the game. Then afterwards I invite the players to discuss alternatives (that way it dosnt interupt the game and at the same time they dont feel like i'm abusing my DM power). You could always write your own system even if it's simply a case of borrowing from other systems since your not trying to sell it there is no problem. This is one of my favourite aspects of PnP. One of the first things I did was to add the roleplayer crit tables and convert D&D to a percentile system. The D20 system has always struck me as trying to be beginner friendly. As such I think it does what it sets out to do so I wouldnt consider it a flaw as such. If you can find something that serves you better, the simple answer is you shouldnt. -

Well your always going to need entry level games. In PnP I cant say I've ever felt held back by any rules. It's certainly applicable to a CRPG though. I dont think your "job" makes you what you are unless you let it. I'd probably put the storyteller games up there as my favourites. But I dont see why D&D needs to change that much. -

That was never Lukes it was Anakins, presumably Obi Wan picked it up after he chopped him up. Luke dosnt scream consular does he, and the only reason for a green saber was it looked better in a desert background. -

Fixed classes are very important for cooperative roleplaying. Especially when people are starting out. It gives everyone a sense of what their function is within the party. Too often in freespend games people will end up with a mish mash of skills which often mean everyone trying to do the same thing. Personally I think when your experienced enough to see the problems in the rules you simply adjust them to better suit you and your group. -
Should Tatooine and/or Kashyyk be in KotOR 3

I'm sure people would love to meet Exar Kun. All I get when I hear the name now though is a vision of that Exar Kun Megatron page that gets posted here. -
Quick expansion is usually the key. I also like to cull other Civs early on to keep them in line and prevent them becoming serious competition later in the game. That tends to make the middle and end game more managable. I also tend to work on the principle of attack me once and I might let you get away with it. Do it again and your little Civ is going into the lost civilizations book.

I thought it was space station rather than the planet itself? Like you I played it on the Xbox and have no particular interest in live. -
Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to jodo kast 5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I still dont get why he stood around while Anakin burned though. It made sense in earilier versions I read because Anakin actually fell out of sight but how it's shown in the film its just strange. Actually telling him he's some sort of chosen one is probably not the smartest idea either. He was probably looking for an easy answer. Yoda is a much wiser fellow than Anakin could ever hope to be. -

I'd say it had more to do with guilt over what he did to Dooku. The two pieces are too similiar for it to be an accident. Anakin had already failed as a Jedi when he struck Dooku down while he was harmless, or rather handless. Whether or not he was trying to make up for it is debatable. -
Probably because its about a specific person. War games tend to be more about the event rather than about specific individuals.
