  1. I'm sure many people in Japan would argue otherwise
  2. I'm really glad Sony dosnt share that attitude or we would all be watching the star wars trilogy on 40 disks Just to reiterate, DVD was second choice for the 360 because HDDVD wasnt ready in time. So your getting obsolete tech just so MS can get the 360 out earlier.
  3. No HD no backwards compatibility as far as the 360 goes, ergo not a standard feature. That the PS3 is backwards compatible over two generations, dosnt have to prove anything beyond that. The only reason the 360 has a DVD is because Toshiba couldnt be ready in time. Believe anything else and your delluded. Six out of seven major studios are supporting Blu Ray right now. $199 was a conservative estimate, it will likely be even more. Oh you mean the stuff you either lied about or got totally wrong. Dont blame you for not wanting to bring that up again. I've been there. Despite MS throwing shedloads of money at Japanese developers there is little interest in the machine on the street. That might change after release, but since the Xbox has remained about as popular as something that floats in the toilet and the 360 has already become a laughing stock when it comes to storage space I wouldnt hold my breath.
  4. Probably similiar since it's pretty much a Beshesda trademark. Might actually turn out better though , especially if they let you go at it road warrior style rather than have to slog across the world on foot (not a huge issue when you had map movement). And a car just has more possibilities than a horse when it comes to what you can do with it.
  5. Smart Paladin 70% Combativeness, 46% Sneakiness, 67% Intellect, 66% Spirituality Valorous! Noble! Or possibly just a self-righteous jerk (but with the brains to keep you alive!)... You are a Smart Paladin! Paladins are holy warriors. They are valorous defenders of the light. Unfortunately, most of them are so ardent in their defense they tend to meet sticky ends faster than you can say "rampaging red dragon." Many people look up to Paladins, while others just consider them stuck up, overbearing, or self-righteous. Fortunately for you, unlike most Paladins, you're pretty smart. Which means that you're more likely to fall into the "admired" category, rather than the "obnoxious" or "dead" categories. Much like the crusades, you manage to combine violence and religion, though unlike the crusades, you add a healthy does of intelligence. You may be a staunch defender of the faith, a valorous champion of the weak, or the stuff that jihads are made of. Which ever one you are, just be happy that you
  6. I rather enjoyed future tactics, although I did only pay
  7. Depends where you go. The Japanese are still as loopy about RPGs as they ever were. The release of Dragon Warriors VIII almost caused riots What has changed is that more and more games are incorporating in RPG elements. Even games like FiFA now allow you to "create a character". So while in one respect there are less people playing RPGs (as in the traditional type) many more people are playing games with RPG aspects. Perhaps Tiger Woods is the best example (I can currently think of) you may get your experience on the golf course, rather than the battlefield. But all the elements are there. Character creation, character growth and a level of customisation that puts many RPGs to shame. Not that I've ever played one, but the wrestling games even add a career mode story with choices that affect the outcomes of your career. Which makes them even more RPG like.
  8. Honestly never liked II much, but that has a learn by doing system rather than levels. I didnt have to level in I , but then I did play it on the PS so I guess I knew what I was doing. I left all the bonus areas till last as well.
  9. It's more like the LOTR games, or Demon Stone. At least thats what I've been told anyway. I havnt seen it in action yet. Not a long game by all accounts but one that keeps the adrenaline pumping from start to finish.
  10. It's a questionable list. Found an entry for it on the PS2 under survival horror.
  11. The gross intake in the cinema is becoming less and less important to how a movie does overall. I think next year, sees for the first time movies released at the same time on DvD as they are in the cinema. I'd much rather curl up on the sofa and watch in the comfort of home, or invite a bunch of people around than have to put up with the waiting, watching pointless trailers, awful food (not to mention high priced awful food) and all those other annoying things. With some of the kit you can get these days, the line between home and cinema is becoming ever more blurry even if you dont have a 20 foot screen at home.
  12. Looks good , wonder if they will get their act together this time and release it in Europe in a timely manner.
  13. What are indigo prophecy and phantom dust ? I think I've got Crimson Sea lurking around somewhere. Dont recall anythin particularly RPGish about it. Reminded me more of Dynasty Warriors if anything.
  14. Maybe next year. Although cats would probably sit there and ignore you and occasionaly pee on the floor
  15. Page seems to be down.
  16. I've never HAD to level in an FF game. Then again I've never reached level 99 in an FF game either. It's not even required for the bonus sections , Emerald Weapon and friends for example. Heck there are so many low level FAQs around leveling seems entirely optional as long as you have your tactical brain engaged. Quite simply what gives FF (and some other JRPGs) an edge in the exploration stakes is you find worthwhile things. Like finding Omega Weapons hangout,Anima etc. It's not just another generic whatever with some similiar bits of equipment. I think KOTORS bunkers on Dxun would have qualified as worth finding, thats if they were hidden in the first place.
  17. Didnt even realise there was a PS version. Learn something new every day I guess. Any reason why it wouldnt work if the PS3 is backwards compatible to the PS ?
  18. Who's arguing ? I'm setting you straight since you felt the need to chime in about Morrowind. Which is already a different design to KOTOR and thus covered in my original post. Fine, but thats still a change in the design from KOTOR which was what I said in the first place. The point in case you missed it, was that as KOTOR is currently designed the characters are so integrel to the storytelling that you simply cant have them die until your done with them. KOTOR may have let you kill people off just before the StarForge but the story was as good as over and they were obsolete from a storytelling point anyway. You may change the design, but you may end up losing what makes KOTOR what it is along the way.
  19. Not in the same way KOTOR does. Without Bastila or Kreia respectively you wouldnt even have a story in KOTOR and KOTORII. That is the difference and thats why it would require a change in the design. I never said It couldnt be done. I just said that it would require a different design which it would. In fact outside of some JRPGS I dont know of any game that relies on the characters to tell the story as much as the KOTOR series.
  20. One of the reasons it's so popular in Japan is that isnt an option for a many people. I'm not so keen to have a real dog around with toddlers all over the place, but in a few years. Well unless you have holographic pets by then
  21. It's just funny because they have never shown an interest in anything game related before. I think the like Nintendogs not just because the dogs are lifelike, but also because the controls are much like using a pen and voice commands. I've got Shin Ibu , so my dog is trained in Japanese It's a very impressive piece of kit especially on a handheld.
  22. I took my Nintendogs over to my folks house this afternoon. Twenty minutes later they had forked over
  23. No one is asking you to buy a PS3. Actually your one of the few making sense when it comes to the 360, you will buy one for the games irrespective of the machines tech and thats something I can respect. You will likely end up getting one anyway, as well as every JRPG released
  24. Personally I found it pretty straightforward, but then I have more experience with those type of things I expect. Star Oceans creation served a purpose beyond that in KOTOR as well, in case you have forgotten.
  25. You probably should have read the cyclopedia.
