That one is likely to be true since the formats don't appear to be compatible and if you use that for games, then only people with HDDVD's will be able to play them, splitting your market. As well as pissing off anyone who bought a DvD version. Price you pay for rushing to market. Along with an insipid launch lineup and game delays.

Not exactly. It's a survival RPG/Adventure with the focus shifting from survival to exploration after you "equip your base". Some of the action sequences are first person, but travel is more overhead.

The bottom review on the page is the best one. It's not really tedious but it wont appeal to everyone. Its like a more intense Harvest Moon in some respects. But it does have a very steep learning curve. Make the wrong choices and you will have to do way more work to keep alive than you really need to. "That's it in a nutshell, the basics of the game. Where yo go and how you survive is entirely up to you. Everything you do through the process of the game will effect the ending. The island is fairly large with lots of areas to explore and a few puzzles to figure out in order to access other areas".

Heres another interesting one from someone who obviously missed the "survival" part of the game. It seems adventure games are few and far between these days, yielding to all the FPS and RTS titles out there today. So I really did want to like this game, but I just couldn't. There's too much micromanagement and multi-management involved for my tastes. I couldn't get absorbed into the story because this little whiner of an antagonist kept ruining the moment for me. "I'm hungry!" "I'm thirsty!" OK, let's get you some food. Ok, that's done with, now we need to get you some water. Wait, you don't have enough energy to get to the shore? Uh-oh, you're hungry again? Oh, you're dying now. You're dead. I restarted the game a few times, trying to make my paths to various spots on the beach more efficient time-wise, but to no avail. Once I got his basic needs taken care of, it was time to get some sleep in the cave, but he wouldn't because there was no fire. Running about trying to find twigs ran his hunger and thirst levels up; you can imagine what happened shortly thereafter. I finally managed to get him to sleep, but the next day it was the same story: I'm hungry, I'm thirsty, I'm dying of starvation! Oh, and once you find the girl, then you have TWO kids to babysit. No thank you. It's a good thing this was a rental. I would've been really disappointed if I had purchased this game. Sorry, Konami, but thumbs down. Next time, let the player focus more on the characters, story, and exploration, rather than all this business of hunting down food and water every five minutes. http://www.gamespot.com/ds/adventure/survi...ds/readers.html

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
Yep it's worth -
Yeah it's pretty clear that there is a deliberate attempt to play up the graphical difference in favour of the 360 version. Probably so you feel the need to spend
-
Also why does one screen have rain and one not ?
-
Were they taken on exactly the same TV ? and unless your a graphics whore, well honestly big whoop.
-
Yes but multithreading was supposed to be revolutionary remember ? You said it yourself not so long ago... Thing is none of those games are revolutionary and they all run as well, or better on a pretty "normal" gaming PC. So where is the revolution of multithreading ? Well cynic and realist are not too far appart. Funny because as I recall you were less than thrilled with the games you saw running on the 360 as well.. What was it ? Call of Duty and Oblivion were the only impressive things there ?

Recycling Jefferson as a NWN2 expansion
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ramza's topic in Computer and Console
Jefferson did have a very interesting setting and introduction. Story elements tend to be ageless anyway so it really wouldnt matter what engine you ran the story on. -
Well that depends what's done with it. If they are already tapping most of the power to come up with the likes of Oblivion, well like I said colour me unimpressed.

I agree. I think it's quite clear the reviewer never intended to give the game a fair shake. For example can anyone think of a more natural control method for fire lighting than alternating left and right to increase the speed of your stick and then blowing on the embers to get it to light ? Likewise, yes it's true the game is really tight on time. But it wouldnt be a survival game if you could potter around all day would it ? Once you get familiar with the island and make some new tools that pressure disapears which is again bang on for a surval game. She's alos not quite the victim shes made out to be. True she cant move around, but thats because her glasses are broken rather than anything intrinsic. She also orders Keith around telling him to make furniture for the cave and stuff like that.
-
If they are multi threaded colour me even less impressed.
-
No it's a bloke. Or at least it's a blokes name. I'm still trying to figure out how he got the stuff in his comment from Keith accidently stepping on her glasses.. The way it reads it's like he poked her in the eyes with a stick or something. I find him a lot more sinister than the game.

Yes and no. In JRPG's you almost always get a female co-star who is just as important, if not more important than the male character you started off with. They are also pretty strong characters in their own right too. It depends if you are identifying with a character, or with the party as a whole I guess. The one that breaks that "rule" would be FFX-2 where all the characters were female from start to finish.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
Well it's definately very like Battlefront I. There are a few classes added but otherwise it's very much the same. The major difference would be the space sections. Thats actually pretty good fun, you fly a ship into the hanger, jump out and then run around destroying it from the inside. Thus far it only rates an ok from me. The campaign is still in the EPI-III phase so totally unexiting. They also didnt do that Jedi's arse justice She's in the game, but lacking in the pertness. -
Not even backgammon? :D
