I'm not going to give a real reply to that. You can guess where people get things, and you can assume what people means as you will.

Heh, this is why people who buy windows may still get the corporate copy just so they don't have to activate it. There are also activation cracks to get rid of this annoying crap. It's exactly the same deal, any protection is removable if people really want to remove it.

Oh he was bad. I think if you talk to just about anyone they'll say that. I don't know many who try to discredit his fighting abilities today. But, as far as the movies went, I liked the fighting but the stories were always pretty crappy I think Jet Li has done some better films (others didn't like them much but I do). Jackie Chan is cool also.

As funny as this comment is, your assumptions about what the problems are I think are incorrect. Sure, God could be doing timeshare. So what? God is supposed to be all-powerful/knowing so it's hardly difficult for him to do 2 things at once. I certainly can't say that he hasn't. Not really, because God is by definition (within Christianity since we are discussing the Bible) both imminent and transcendant. He created the universe. Any alien's existence is contingent on the universe. Now while you could certainly say that what we perceive as God could possibly be in many cases aliens, there is certainly no way you could explain everything that we attribute to God as alien. The creation of the universe being one of those things. There are other explanations out there now (quantum explanations) but I have never really bought them, considering we have no idea how things work outside the universe and can certainly not guarantee anything to that degree. There is also some pretty amazing stuff about how the universe started that leads me to believe that the process was more than random, but anyway.. I'm going to reply to the other point that was made by someone else here . can't remember who said it in reading through, and that's the idea that God having created something else makes us less "unique" Well, God created angels first of all, so we are already not unique insofar as we have intelligence, etc. We are not the most powerful of beings created. "In his image" was another statement used later and the proper interpretation of that. Well, being the believer in the Bible that I am I think you have to take that with the rest of the Bible and find the context as a whole. I tend to believe that the only thing being referred to there is that we are intelligent, self-motivated beings. We have a true free will and intelligence (if you are Calvinist you believe we *had* a free will until the fall but that's beside the point). I personally don't believe to any extent we can recreate intelligence as it exists in us, but we will be able to design better simulations of it. But this restriction is certainly not on God, he can do whatever he wants. We do not have to be unique, just know that we are here because that was what God wanted. It's entirely unnecessary (nor is it stated) that we are the only thing God has ever done, or will ever do. I tend to think that's where the idea that religious people are arrogant spreads. Theologians try to define too much. Though, I have to say being somewhat of a fundamentalist that many would find me pretty arrogant anyway I don't buy into relativist ethics and I think that I'm right.. but I don't really think most people are any different, they just don't want me telling them they are wrong. They don't mind telling me that I am wrong for believing so however I've always found that funny.
-
Not really, the bible never makes it anywhere close to clear that there isn't other intelligent life in the universe. If we found other life it would be proof that some peoples assumptions based on theology are inaccurate. Some theologians would have something to answer for, but they shouldn't have been saying such ridiculous things in the first place. A good theologian leaves possibilities open rather than pretending like they know how everything is and will turn out. And there is plenty of room to do that.

Actually, I can see it. There is a lot of flaming going on especially close to and after release of a game. You get a lot of people who come to boards just to say the game sucks or whatever even when they haven't bought it. You also get a lot of comparison posts. It's something that will happen anyway but will be limited if they make the forums postable only by owners. Obviously I think anyone should be able to read it and there should be a general section which anyone can use as well, but it will descend into a moderators nightmare you can be assured

I'd attempt to write the hack for this myself to practice my php coding but not sure if it'd be of any use. This forum is based off invision 1.3 isn't it?

Let me say this much. I am not taking this seriously at all. I'm not really trying to be fecicious either. But really, this seems like nonsense to me. I have no time to learn to be an expert myself in everything that the film discussed here refers to. I absolutely do not. I find it funny that most of the questions being raised to defend the accuracy of the film comes from someone who really is just as ignorant as I am. Yeah yeah, they can make it sound like a really solid case, and I have no doubt of the effectiveness of their presentation. But does that mean I think it's true? No, because if it were true it defies reason. I can think of just too many logical fallacies in a conspiracy this size. They are really too numerous to count. For one thing the word "demolition style" or something to that effect is constantly used. But do I know anything about how a building falls down when a plane hits it? Nope. So saying that to me is pretty meaningless. I'd have to look into it, the physics behind it etc and could probably spend years researching the specifics of how to create a model. Or, I can trust the sources given here. But I can't. Why? Because if this were true I would expect many government and media sources to come forward saying the same thing. The idea that all of them are completely scared out of their minds or are actually in on it is just insane, so that's unbelievable. Ignorance of a subject is no reason to accept just anyone's argument. It's best if you can to sit on the fence until you can learn something at least, IMO, about the subject. Also, if you can find someone unbiased or that you can trust I think you can generally accept what they say about a subject. On the other hand, I think what has occured in this case quite frankly is wishful thinking. While I certainly would never want something like this to be true, I think that to the original poster this is incredibly satiating. One can grab so easily on to just about anything if you already accept a lot of someone elses philosophy. So you hear there were hijackers living? You check google, there are several pages that say so and you believe it. You may give some consideration to the idea that they have the same names, but so many people say it that it must be true. Of course, never forget that if this is actually true, the government killed 3300+ people and then left these guys alive so that it would be easy to discover the conspiracy? That doesn't make much sense at all. Anyway, that is but one example and I have not the time to go through them all, and I will honestly not continue to discuss a subject of which I admit ignorance. I just wish that people would not accept such things simply because they have not had time to research and develop alternative views. I really do think this has happened. Pseudo-science is really easy to push off on people who don't know very much, and when it sounds good or supports some of their beliefs about the evil US government, etc. it will normally be readily accepted. Then it spreads, is put out for consumption on the internet and you have about 100 pages of it, only further producing the idea that it must be true to new converts. All I will say is this. Consider 1) How many people would have to be in on the conspiracy. Try to think of it in terms of minimum and then imagine how each person would be controlled, etc. 2) The holes.. why would they kill so many and fail to kill so few? 3) The gain.. can it really be proven that the President or Cheney is directly making money off of this? I think one should look to non-biased sources for this kind of information. I believe, for example, when it's said Cheney was in Halliburton that he's pretty much cut all ties to that company now. So no benefit is given him based on their contract. Also it's worth of reference that Halliburton is a company with good connections and this is why they serve the US in many wars, including Bosnia (without bidding for that also).

64 bit will be worthless for a long time, but the processors that use it have several other enhancements that make them significantly better than their predecessors. So all things being equal it's still worth upgrading just as much (though not more so) as it ever has been.
-
So, the video didn't convince you. You were already predisposed to thinking this way (which is exactly what I thought). You know, I'm no "expert" on things like this, so I'm not going to "unconvince" you on this issue. Just don't pretend like this is the video to solve all the problems for everyone else. I don't think it's odd that the building fell down or that there was some kind of demolition team in there. I suspect that a lot of people would say something if this were to occur. And ya know.. if you think millions of people are in on the conspiracy (cause that's what would have to be true in order for it to occur) then go on. Here are some more resources btw.. take them as you will. We can go on endlessly posting links at least that way people get to decide between our sources on the issues. http://www.snopes.com/rumors/pentagon.htm If the government was willing to do this, why would they leave the claimed hijackers alive? I can keep this up forever honestly. The fact that people have the same name as someone else doesn't make them the same person.
-
You are convinced.. I'll give you credit for producing an argument I can't deal with right now because I don't know anything, but I think a lot of that information is flawed. I can't prove one way or another but I noticed you didn't actually source anything. Somehow I think the web of sources will probably rely on quite a few people I wouldn't trust but you would. And as for the editing of the material, my claim is that they edited the material and made up some of the audio, etc. I don't honestly believe some of the information they put on the film. And as far as me not believing that it happened (I don't, I admit that bias) you explained nothing of the problems that I actually had. You give me no logic behind why such an event would be required. You give me no placement for the bodies of the hijackers or the people who died on the planes, etc. Do you think they disappeared into thin air? The government killed them to pull off the scheme? You realize that the government loses money from this as well don't you? So there would have to be a specific person/people at fault, and those people would know others that I can't imagine wouldn't mention anything. The web grows as you think through the process. Believe what you will. I don't deny that you have your "reasons" for it, but I don't take it seriously at all, because it's irrational. It doesn't make any sense for the government to have done something like that, and there not to have been anyone willing to say anything. I know, conspiracy theorists are great. It's easy to pass everyone at the top in government as evil or something like that. It's ridiculous though, and your presumptive nature draws you into this kind of garbage IMO. It defies reason. And guess what? I can't prove the negative. That's the position you've put me in. I can't prove that this didn't occur. I could give you evidence/experts to say that it did, but you would say they are hired by the government/media. Also, you don't understand much of my post or are trying to just screw with my statements to make your point. The fact of the matter is there are multiple ways people convince others to believe odd things like this. They can a) manipulate the evidence, or B) inform the person what they are seeing to induce them to a conclusion. I never said that both happened. I am, however, familliar with the practices cults and such use to lure people in and they involve a great deal of mental trickery. It's similar to the techniques used to get terrorists who don't want to talk to give up information. Believe what you will. I don't think you'll get nearly as many others to take it seriously though honestly, not even those who dislike or hate the republicans and the president.
-
If they want to "keep it unknown" then why did fox say anything at all about it? Maybe there just wasn't a lot to say because we don't know anything, lol. It's probably why it's pretty difficult to get sources of information. I did notice it on the ticker as well, and I may even have heard a short reference one day about it, but for the same reason as grandpa, I gotta say that just cause people see something odd it doesn't instantly convince me it = x. Sure, it may, but there are a lot of things we still don't understand, and since it didn't vaporize a town or kill any cows in a field there just isn't a lot of room for conjecture about it. I mean honestly, what would you say? And some of these things have previously been explained by other experts to possibly be some kind of reflection or whatever. The fact is no one knows. There just isn't a lot of room to provide any real information here.

Ok, first of all these claims aren't that new. So this has been out there for awhile. The reason I specifically kept the audio off the first time through is so I could look at the video without preconceptions of what I was supposed to be seeing. Then, when looking and listening I looked closely. It should not surprise anyone that mass hallucinations can be pretty common, even warpings of the memory of events when someone uses suggestion well. Another article on this http://questionsquestions.net/WTC/hoax.html I think, considering the alternative view (that the government just randomly killed hundreds of people for fun on a plan and flew a military plane into the building) that this is pretty nutty. Who would gain from this? Specific individuals? Military contractors? Oh, certainly, but woudl it have been necessary to do that in the first place Something much less than 9/11 could have happened and convinced us to go to war in Afghanistan, and even Clinton was for regime change in Iraq. The idea that something like this was needed for a few people to make money is a little off. Not to mention the fact that there was a great loss of money with the towers falling. Also, if a huge policy was taken out by the owners of the buildings, the insurance companies would still lose out big time, and they would certainly investigate claims like yours. IF this was something presentable in court do you honestly see it not being presented? And yeah, I find it a just a little odd they act like everyone else is in on the conspiracy (the news, etc.) because why would they go after Bush on the national guard crap if that were the case? Oh sure, you can expand the theory more and more. This is how conspiracies work. Eventually so many have to be included that people will start labeling guys like me who disagree government spies (and if you think that's a funny comment, I'll state that it wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone accused of such with these type of things). In the age of easy video editing it's easy to do just about anything, and yeah, I am accusing them of doing some fudging. Why? Because that's much easier to pull off than the one they are making up.

Watching it, I can't see what he's referring to especially in the other shots. The film is too blurry to actually catch anything, much less make it out for certain. Unless there is something very high quality released I can't say anything. FIrst tim e I watched through I did it with no words, to see if there were any automatic things I noticed without him pre-preparing me to see something. Nothing. When he spoke, I likewise saw nothing out of the ordinary. Just my opinion on watching it through the whole thing. I didn't watch the entirety of the video, except those portions that actually had 9/11 footage, and then I checked what he was saying after watching it without audio. Again, nothing noticed on my end. I couldn't see anything "attached" to the plane at all. But considering the planes details weren't well made out with that low quality who knows. Give me something of considerably higher quality if it's supposed to be video evidence. Furthermore, a debunking by people who actually believe that 9/11 was some kind of conspiracy can be found.. http://www.oilempire.us/bogus.html#planesite Me, I think both are kinda crazy, but ya know.. it's interesting to have infighting among the conspiracy crowd. One group claiming the other is really the government trying to plant fake conspiracies in order to detract people, the other claiming that it's really the other group debunking them that's at fault.

not true, that's a MAJOR misconception... 64-bit just means more accurate decimals the boost in power is minimal. the power boost you're seeing in 64-bit CPUs is due to the other aspects of the CPU that they've changed, not because of the extra depth of math <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 64 bit means more mathematical precision, but this precision helps speed by being able to work with floating point values faster. Of course, still nowhere near a gpu which is why it's nto that great. I guess if you use software rendering though, you'll get big advantages with those cards in graphics But anyway, the nice thing about 64 bit is that it can access more memory at one time and enables us to have more ram (though higher ram isn't going to be a necessity for awhile either since we can already have like 4 gb). 64 bit processors also have "wider" registers making them able to process more data at a time without having to go and fetch from ram again. This could be of use if things were optimized for it. However, this is unlikely considering that 64 bit processors are not at all standard nor will they be in 2 years. When they are they will be better though for some things where all this matters. It's kinda like a processor with extra l2 cache. It will help for some things but not for others.
-
I don't mind seeing some 64 bit optimizations to the game but I doubt it will be standard, and thus the game won't run much better with them, or worse without them

Maybe, but I don't think it's worth the hassle to customers. Sometimes it doesn't work for people, and sometimes it does. But either way I hate having to look for a cd (I have multiple games) to play something. Unreal 2004 took out the cd protection with the first patch, Unreal did the same thing. Why cannot other games do the same? That way you stop the casual piracy from people who don't know how to download patches/etc, and still allow the people who bought the game to play without the cd. I think that's the best solution. Once someone knows how to update/search the net there is no game out that they can't get a crack for anyway. I just hate the 1-2 day wait for cracks after new patches are out. I know where to get them well enough.
-
I don't think he was referring so much to the cost of cd-key copy protection (which I am pretty much everyone I know is fine with) but the safedisk, securerom junk that is a bit annoying. I use cracks for games that I buy just because I don't like hunting for cds, and the whole scratch thing isn't cool either. In fact I put my NWN 1 copy on dvd along with warcraft 3 and frozen throne and I just load them up for installs, but after that I play them without use of any disk. I didn't realize that Gamespy made the keys though, that's interesting. Makes sense though, since that is what the keys are really for is to make sure you are allowed to play online through their service.

As far as something obtainable for you at this point, I have to recommend Ogre3d. There is quite a bit you can learn from it. I think the webpage is ogre3d.org. It's an open source object oriented 3d engine that is developed in c++. Why does that matter? I know a lot of people who can't spell and are still quite intelligent. I don't think that has anything to do with anything. Though I think proper spelling is good for presentation I would say anytime you need to do that you will have a spell check available. Telling someone to spell properly in forums/chat is just a little silly IMO. I think you are being way too hard on the guy for no reason at all. His only remotely stupid comment was about the bg programmers, but he's entitled to his opinion just like those of us who like to insult microsoft, lol.
-
He's just saying that post counts aren't important because he doesn't want the rest of us to catch up
-
And the funny thing is, they were still pirated. People found ways around it. One thing I wish is that all devs would just stick with cd keys. I hate searching for my stupid cds only to get them scratched. I want to install the game, patch the game, play and never need the cd again unless i want to reinstall. I always get cracks as it is now, but it's annoying to patch and sometimes not have a crack out, then you have to wait and search for the stupid cds again (I'm not necessarily well organized). CD Keys good, copy protection bad. Saving CD Keys online doubly good.

Ok, considerations 1) The democrats, the party of "anti-war" or whatever are the only ones in congress who have even proposed a draft 2) I think the original author of the thread overstates his case, and I'm going to guess he's against the Iraq war so his news sources are probably a bit biased to the left. Of course all these wonderfully accurate sources are also going to slam the regular media because otherwise they can't get anyone to listen to them 3) I'm going to wait and see, but if there is a draft big deal. I am still eligible for it, and if I have to go to Iraq, that's just fine honestly. I don't really want to serve in the military because I don't like the environment, orders, etc. but I'd have no problems doing it for a war that I did support in the first place. That's just being consistent. That part of the movie was the most bogus because he edited out one of the intervies. Not only that if you look at the statistics and compare them to us regular civilians congress actually has 1) More people who have served than the general populace 2) More people who have children serving than the general populace. Does Moore tell you that? Oh of course not. oh.. and a nice 3) Unlike what Moore wants you to think ,those eligible are not children. Their parents can't "send them to war" because they make their own choices. But of course Moore and others love to play the stupid game of calling soldiers kids.

I'm well aware of the fact that in the past many got their start on self taught programming, but today the development procedure for games is significantly more advanced/difficult than it was perhaps in the past. (Maybe difficult is the wrong word, but you can't make a game without people of various talents anymore). Personally, what I have the most interest in is programming. I was really interested in programming when I was in HS, had a very fun C++ class but it was doing stuff in dos. I've more recently played around with some of the open source engines like Ogre, etc. but even it's a little hard when I haven't had any real training on things. Most of my other experience where I felt that I was really pretty good was in the NWN1 scripting language. I developed a pretty large spawnsystem that required knowledge of sql, I wrote a plugin for nwnx in C++ for my pw to help in the deletion of characters and a few other things, and did other various things. I've got a wide span of interests so I've even done some mapping for ut2004 for fun, or php stuff for web pages, etc. I just really like to learn, but it's difficult sometimes to find more advanced information. I'll also be honest that while I was great at math in HS (last class was AP Calculus), it's been a few years since then so I'm a little rusty on some of the concepts Anyhow, to the questions.. 1) Any recommendations on sites/tutorials/products that are really helpful for getting one from a beginning C++ experience to a higher level of understanding of 3d APIs, graphics engines, etc.? 2) Is a degree absolutely necessary for getting a job in the industry?

What, you mean some of us are posting just to post.... nooo.. not me.. I'm not included
