  1. Wait, did they not relicense the songs? I don't have any inclination to play any of these games, but if I did any it would be San Andreas, but only if they had all the OG radio stations with all the songs. The soundtrack was a big part of the experience.
  2. There are 3 difficulty settings: Casual, Normal, and Hard. MegaTen games are famously tough and unforgiving, so having a casual difficulty for Little Billy (for whatever reason the casual mainstream gamer straw man in my head is always named "Little Billy" ) playing his first MegaTen game is great. As a MegaTen veteran, I decided to start on Hard. I will likely come to regret that. Difficulty can be changed to Normal or Casual at any time, but Hard can only be selected at the start. Those school uniforms are snazzy! I almost died on the very first tutorial battle. That's what I get for playing on Hard. Poor Tokyo always getting REKT in MegaTen games. Props to whatever voice actor is voicing Gustave. My man is hamming it up super hard!
  3. Are you suggesting a giant wealthy company would hastily slap together a low effort remaster to cash in on nostalgia? Why, I never!
  4. What seems to be the crux of the outrage? I haven't been following this since I have no intention of buying the games.
  5. I did earlier this season write that we would have a dumb loss somewhere along the way, I just didn't expect muh boys to $#!+ the bed quite so spectacularly last week. As long as it was an outlier and we got it out of our system I guess it's fine. We looked good this week but it was against the hapless Falcons. Our tough stretch is coming up with Chiefs, Raiders, and Saints the next 3 weeks. Granted, KC has been super shaky all year and Nawlins lost Jameis. Still, those games should be better indicators of if we're back in good form than this week's game was.
  6. Iron Monkey is delightful, it might be my favorite Donnie Yen movie. Back on the subject of vidya games, I had an unexpected, but very welcome surprise. A few days ago I got an email from Amazon notifying me that my copy of SMT V was delayed and the new expected delivery window would be November 19-22. Yesterday I got another email notifying me that it shipped and delivery was today, to which my response was "Are you sure? Today is Saturday." Lo and behold, a package showed up at my door today. I had no idea Amazon delivered on Sunday. Good thing because I go back on the road tomorrow morning. Also, they came through on the steelcase: Steelcases are usually fairly limited quantity, so I wasn't sure I'd actually get one. Not a big deal, a copy in a regular case would play exactly the same, but it is nice and it didn't cost anything extra.
  7. After the utter embarrassment that occurred last weekend, muh Boys seem to have their $#!+ together this week. Maybe just before last week's game a truck full of banana peels crashed in the middle of the field, spilling its contents. This week banana peel trucks were wisely banned from driving anywhere near the football game.
  8. A couple of months ago I wrote about how I just watched the greatest rasslin' PPV ever. Here we are months later and... Holy ****! It's funny how much the main event of Full Gear 2021 reminded me of Starrcade 97. It was December 1997, WCW was riding high. While the nWo storyline was showing its cracks, overall the product was good and ratings were great. The main even was the culmination of a year and a half long storyline with Sting. I can't say it was perfect, but for a story told over that length of time it was done as well as reasonably expected. All the hard work was done, the only thing left was for Sting to beat Hollywood Hogan for the WCW World Championship clean and stand triumphant. They ****ed it up. The main event of Full Gear 21 was the culmination of a nearly 3 year long storyline with Hangman Adam Page. For a story of this length it was nearly perfect. All that was needed was for Adam to beat Kenny Omega for the World Championship clean and stand triumphant, and he did, because AEW is run by a man who knows what the **** he is doing. The crazy thing is that as good as the main event was, and it was phenomenal, it wasn't even Match of the Night for me. The first match on the PPV proper (there was a good women's tag match on the pre-show) was MotN. MJF vs Darby Allin was SUPA HOT FIYA!
  9. That might be the best rhythmic gymnastics performance I've ever seen.
  10. I forgot all about Twin Mirror. If I recall correctly, that's a narrative-driven murder mystery with surreal elements. That sounds like it would be squarely in my wheelhouse. I have way too much on my plate right now, but I should look into scooping it up next time a good sale comes along. Edit: It's 50% off on the PS store for another week. Hmm...
  11. Florida or Germany?
  12. Mario Party is already a game that ruins relationships; what better way to alienate your friends than by having an unfair advantage? I'll report back in a year or when anything starts to malfunction, whichever comes first. So far so good. I tried out the turbo; there are 2 modes (burst and auto) and 3 speeds, it's fine. I like the thumbsticks so much more than the joycons. Trying to precision aim with joycons in Metroid Dread sucked because the stick is too easy to move and the short range of travel meant the smallest movement would swing Samus' arm pretty far. With the Binbok it's much easier to be precise.
  13. Scotch bonnet is above my normal heat range, I generally stop at serrano, but not so far out of my range that I couldn't be coaxed into trying it under the right circumstances. You get into ghost pepper territory and you'll need to hand me a hundred dollar bill to even consider eating it.
  14. I scooped up the Binbok Joypad Controller to replace the joycons on my Switch (nothing wrong with them): I chose this over the Hori Split Pad Pro because, unlike the Hori, it's feature complete with the joycons. The Hori is missing bluetooth, so it can only be used in handheld mode, and gyroscope (granted I don't currently have any games that use gyro and possibly never will). As you can see it's not much bigger than the joycons when used as a separate controller. 95% of the size difference comes from the insert in the middle that links them into a controller, like the shell does for the joycons (and adds grips). I mainly bought it for handheld mode, but it's nice to have the ability to use it apart from the Switch so that I don't have to lug them and the joycons both around to be able to play while docked. I was hoping the shoulder buttons would be spaced a little more apart, but, as you can see, the spacing between the bumper and trigger is basically identical to the joycons. The face buttons are technically bigger, but only microscopically so. I very much like the analog sticks on the Binbok better than on the joycons, they have a bigger range of travel and stiffer resistance, which I like. I also like the D-Pad better on the Binbok. There's turbo, which I haven't tried yet but may come in useful some day. There's RGB around the sticks, as you can see, which can do rainbow and cycling and whatever. I don't much care, I just set it to whatever color catches my fancy at the moment (currently violet) and leave it at that. The built-in grips make the Switch much more comfortable to hold in handheld mode. I didn't think the Switch was uncomfortable to hold before, but it's certaily more comfortable with the Binbok. The one concern I have is how light the Binbok is. It certainly feels flimsier than the joycons. Only time will tell how well the Binbok holds up.
  15. ^ I'm #TeamNoSocks and #TeamNoPants. Luckily, where I live I can go sans socks and sans pants roughly 9 months of the year and when driving the truck it's pretty much always shorts and flip flops. Even if I'm driving through Minnesota in January; I'll get bundled up to go outside, but as soon as I'm back in the cab I immediately strip down to flip flops, shorts, and t-shirt.
  16. I found my new favorite wing sauce: Not very spicy, but that's easily adjusted if necessary. I love the slight hint of cilantro.
  17. I love this Polish poster for "Electronic Murderer" aka The Terminator: It's so simple, yet stylish.
  18. In an ideal world, one where companies honor their promised delivery date, I would be playing this right now.
  19. Today is Shin Megami Tensei V release day, it should be a joyous day for me. However, Amazon informs me that the physical copy of the game I ordered won't be here for at least another week.
  20. I imagine this is one of those things where a handful of "studies" were done in a manner that can most generously be described as pseudoscience, of which 1 came back in favor of DST, 1 against it, and 3 were inconclusive, but the folks pushing for DST ignored the against and inconclusive "studies" because confirmation bias.
  21. What is the best Drew Struzan movie poster? I nominate The Goonies:
  22. Daylight Savings is in effect from mid March to early November, at least in Murica. That's the time of the year that the northern hemisphere enjoys the most amount of sunlight. I would think that if the bull**** excuse for time traveling twice a year was to finagle schedules so that people got out of work in time to enjoy the sunlight for as long as possible then it would be most important during winter when sunlight is at a premium, which is precisely when Daylight Savings is NOT in effect. Not to mention that a sizeable portion of the workforce works 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and all sorts of wacky hours that are not 8 am to 4 pm.
  23. In a world where artificial lighting is ubiquitous and being out and about during darkness is completely natural, how exactly does Daylight Savings Time facilitate anything, let alone shopping?
  24. This is several days late but Daylight Savings Time needs to die in a fire.
  25. Steam Deck launch delayed to February 2022. The never ending chip shortage strikes again!
