  1. All I can say, playing IWD2 atm, is that the game is severely lacking when it comes to your party members hitting moving enemies. If a baddie starts lumbering for some weak party member, all that happens when I click on it, is my character gets to pursue it, not hit it!! Never. It's a wild goose chase and not very logical as a combat game feature. This moving baddie can brush by me dozens of times, but my character can only click and follow, not hit him in those instances. That's weird, and something I hope we won't see in PE.
  2. All this talk about the fighter's fly-paper ability makes me think of the Dwarven Defender and its Defensive Stance in NWN1 up until patch 1.67: "Patch 1.67 altered the way personal space works for player characters. This has the effect of allowing other players or NPCs to move past a player character in doorways and other tight locations so long as there is a minimum of walkable space available. A Dwarven Defender in Defensive Stance could previously "plug" a door or other choke point significantly wider than himself." I wonder if the very intention with that fly-paper ability is to be able to choke points and stop people for passing through. And even worse (better) - if the baddies try to escape, the fighter gets some kind of attack of opportunity. What I don't want to see is some kind of Black Hole spell (from D3 RoS) for fighters.
  3. And sometimes your entire party gets greyed out and you simply can't end turn, or at least so I thought, until I found out about this useful little command that forces an end-turn in M&M X Legacy even if all of your characters are unable to take any action (and it ends the turn otherwise too - very nice): Press Ctrl+Alt+R and just keep on having fun. At the very end, with a stretched out boss fight, that saved me like five times.
  4. That's it! Now it's official. This thread is classified as qualified torture and liable to all sorts of law suits. Just tell me already, Obsidian! Which CRPG is it? I need to know before I melt into a pool of pure anticipation.
  5. I don't know why, but I'm getting a weird vibe from such cranioscopic details and requests, and it's a stale whiff from bygone times, rife with craniology and phrenology. Still, I support you in your crusade for achieving as wide a cranial diversity as possible in a game with subhuman races and beyond, which up until now I thought was a given. Please proceed in your endeavours!
  6. Well, I stumbled upon this juicy tidbit: It's not officially confirmed with Bethesda at the moment, but I will most certainly not hold my horses in the meantime. "The image follows an off-screen photo of a slide from a presentation. According to the fact sheet, the Arkane Studios game is being developed using id Tech 5 and will be released in 2016. Players will step into the shoes of a new main character who must “annihilate the outsider” in the new location of Tyvia. The character will also have new and updated powers, according to the slide." As a huge fan of Dishonored, I'm extremely excited about this! Well, 2016 is somewhat cruel, but the amount of games coming out before then that I will most certainly play is huge, so no worries!
  7. Perhaps I'm blind as Mr Magoo, but those three lovely backer-based portraits are in fact surprisingly varied already. I can't wait to have them adorn PE in a few months.
  8. Lay your hands on? That sounds most worrisome. You may be a leper too. Having your two dislodged hands placed on some ill person is rather disgusting and most likely contagious.
  9. Hormalakh: That kind of journalism would definitely have its place in a world with internet, twitter, blogs, etc. As for people being abhorred or scared of some of the jargon over at RPGcodex, well such reactions come as no surprise really, and such bloated jargon certainly seeps into BSN or the Obsidian forums too for that matter (well, into most forums nowadays, it seems), but pay them no mind. What matters is what kind of contributions you make. And in your case, you seem to be a very sensible, inquisitive and constructive person, so just keep up the good work!
  10. Many people were wrong then Irenicus' Dungeon was a major part of the story. I can't blame them for wanting to skip it the umpteenth time through though (same as the entire Asylum/Underdark thing getting a bit old after the 7th time through) I'm OCD enough to always go through it, and then be annoyed by it, but I'm quite willing to accept that that is just me You're not alone! I wouldn't have brought it up if I wasn't guilty as charged, as it were.
  11. Well, Donald certainly upset the president of the United States and a bunch of legendary celebs, like this knee-jerk reaction from Snoop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQlsSk7sCRM "Sterling’s comments about Johnson follow a long argument about his girlfriend — who says in the recording that she is half-black and half-Mexican — not understanding the cultural differences between white, black, and Hispanic people. At one point, Sterling asks her if she gets “a benefit” from associating with black people, and calls her “stupid” when she asks why the race of the people she associates with matters. Sterling doesn’t answer when she asks if it would have been different had it been Larry Bird in the photo." I can see why people are very angry with Mr Sterling right now.
  12. Aaahh!!! This extreme precision is searing the retinas off of my eyes!
  13. That game symbolizes a phase in the gaming industry that I recall, and which nearly qualifies as an extinction event well up there among the meteor that eradicated most dinosaurs 65 million years ago.
  14. Sensuki: Keep up the good work of info delving! We need all info we can get. PrimeJunta: Your definition of high and low fantasy was great. I more or less subscribed to it already, and that Wiki definition seemed weirdly technical and almost high-strung.
  15. Many Neverwinter Nights modders have oodles of talent. Great interview!
  16. I reckon the NWN2 OC got this right. You had a neat tutorial (the fair), but you could pick a convo option with your step father immediately, which made you skip to the more urgent attack on the village. However, if you were a completionist, you missed out on a few xp by not doing all the stuff in the tutorial fair, which I do think is indeed fair.
  17. I know, but with those 3D engines getting cheaper by the day, the sky is the limit. Imagine an Unreal-based Eternity, for instance!
  18. ManifestedISO: I know! That Skyrim-like Eternity certainly whets my appetite big time!! I really want to see Obsidian's huge talent for making CRPGs (along with their excellent writers) be inserted into a 3D game of that format. I'd love to see more RPG in it, though, like NWN2 (and MotB, especially). If that's their KS CRPG, I'm gonna swoon!!!
  19. And every good game even killed some darlings to get there.
  20. It seems easier to have it linked to your invo as well. It's logical too.
  21. This is just excellent!!! Me too (and it makes so much sense - in this way, most peeps should be happy). Great for visibility and minimal mouse movements. Clever choice, once again!
  22. Alright. That's much easier! And I guess the camp supplies are the rest limiter, as well as more areas being non-restable. I mean, in IWD2, you could always force-rest in the midst of goblin fortresses etc, even with a few enemies wandering the edges of the palisades. You took the hit of one or two new encounters, but then you finally got a rest that worked.
  23. Finally, we get to have great use of all those lovely gems! In IWD2 alone, I'm literally drowning in them. I hope there will be gem bags, potion coffers, scroll cases and the like in PE too.
  24. Wonderful info, Josh! Two questions: -If we press the "rest" button, will there sometimes (often) appear baddies that rudely awaken us during our beauty sleep? -Will any resting take whatever hours to get the party to full health/stamina? Or will it be a more natural rest time that you'll have to redo, if you are really wounded overall?
  25. Many great reflections, and some premature disappointments there! First of all, don't give up on a solid UI. I mean, it's fairly easy for them to make a blocky frame, where all of that gets socketed, as it were. Then you'll get your sticks and stones, with flashes of copper caryatids! And perhaps action bars only will pop up when combat ensues, I agree. Nice arguments for that! I loved Ultima VII, where everything was very clean when exploring and all. And I did love the CRPG version of Dark Sun too. And also Monk Wounds and the Cipher needs to suck up power in combat via damages onto enemies as well before he/she unleashes cipher-abilities in the frey.
