  1. Yeah, I dunno why they needed to put a poster up for it. Todd Whatshisname had a spot at the conference however, so it might be connected to his speech or whatnot they do at the conference part of E3. I'm not surprised that they won't be showing anything from the production of the game however, as the last I heard from them, they don't even have a team on the game yet.
  2. There will be nothing shown from Fallout 3 on E3, apparantly. It was just a teaser poster. http://www.rpgcodex.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7221 MrSmileyFaceDude, Bethesda developer: "It's a teaser poster. We aren't showing anything publicly; just confirming that it's in production."
  3. But it doesn't make the game unwinnable. As already stated, you can defeat him without the use of weapons. Which is, perhaps something a thief would prefer when facing a demon... them being clever thiefsies and all. EDIT: Aah, reread your post and realized that you didn't have enough dough. It'd probably be better if you had to answer riddles to get the names instead of paying cash.
  4. Amen, that's what I was trying to say. And considering Fallout 3 will be released after Oblivion, the chances that Fallout 3 will be further cleansed from what flaws Bethesda's previous games have is even greater. (Considering that the changes they've made in Oblivion will have had time to be commented upon by the players). So yeah, only time will tell.
  5. If they show enough for anyone to comment on even then ... I was under the impression that they're on a concept level on Fallout 3. I agree though, saying that "Bethesda sucks and everything their hands touch turn into poo" is rather hasty to say the least. And, unfortunately, Troika is no more...
  6. I think that's Morrowind's biggest flaw. While it's awesome that you can ask people about a lot of things, it's not so awesome when almost every character has the same things to say. It's like they're all information-consoles, linked to a database. Fallout had lots of different characters with different dialogue (that's like the alpha and omega of Roleplaying games, ain't it?). Bethesda claims that they'll change that for oblivion. If they manage to get out of that loop, they might still make Fallout 3 interesting in that aspect.
  7. Well, the chances of it being turn-based is about nill. The chances of it being isometric is also about nill. So all that MAY be left is the "fallout spirit", as they say. I however feel that much of the fallout spirit is the turnbased combat and isometric view. Especially the turn-based combat with all the aiming at body parts and stuff. Bethesda could probably make a FP-RPG set in the fallout world. I'm not sure if it could be called Fallout 3 though, as the mechanics around the actual game would likely be too much changed. Wether or not that game is good or not doesn't really have anything to do with how close it is to Fallout 1/2 in game mechanics. What I'm trying to say is that they may make a good Fallout game, but the chances that it'll be a "true fallout 3" game are perhaps low. You know, like "Fallout Massive RPG" might be a better title than Fallout 3.
  8. Sure, just airing my opinion, too. I can't remember the specifics now, I just remember thinking that -- using my method of play -- it was going to take me the rest of my life to finish the game. And there are an inordinate amount of Fed-Ex missions. It struck me as a better multi-player environment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm, I think the reason I didn't get so fed-exed is because I was also a member of the fighters guild. You know, I was at the last main quest or so within a week or two (not active play-time), and I thought I ran around pretty much everywhere. There probably aren't that many main-plot quests. I dunno... I also bought every Flight of the wind (or whatever the spell's called) scroll I could find. Anyway, the main plot for Morrowind certainly isn't bad. The dwemer stuff is coo'.
  9. Whoa DUDE?!... I certainly wouldn't cry if they show some at E3.
  10. Yeah, the ending was pretty decent. Funny, I also wanted to spend some time with the npc's after the game was finished. At least get to breathe some fresh air after all of that dungeoncrawling. Don't think I ever fought Mephisto... the other way is much more satisfying.
  11. This is rather irrelevant to the thread (which is about the plot of Morrowind and its expansions), however. And Deus Ex:IW certainly isn't sandboxy , neither does it have a large amount of quests/missions. Gaining lvls for the main-quest in Morrowind certainly doesn't take a long time. Do you even get XP for finishing quests in Morrowind? I only did quests to gain favour and money. You cannot argue against an opinion, if you found all the quests boring then you did. I did not. The more obvious fed-ex quests however, I did not find entertaining except for in the beginning when they took you to new towns and such.
  12. You have to finish Morrowind to start playing the expansions?
  13. I think the problem most people have with the game (or so it seems to me) is that you have to work to actually GET to (or even understand) the main plot (In depth, I mean... get the whole picture so to speak). I'm not saying that this is a good thing, mind you. It's not like in most other games where they throw you a carrot to keep you interested, you have to actually read books in the game and stuff to fully understand the main plot. In say, KOTOR (BG1/2 is a better example), you are thrown into the main quest/plot either immediatly or at least pretty damn soon. There is no throwing at all in Morrowind. You get a letter to deliver, and that's it. After that you pretty much have to actively decide to dedicate yourself to the mainplot all through the game. If you do that, the game isn't all that long or big at all. What I'm saying is that there is no pace at all, save for the pace you set, in this game. I personally didn't have much problem with having to look through books and stuff (or running around doing stuff not even remotely connected to any quests), in fact I liked that the focus wasn't on the actual main plot. I understand why people don't like it though. Hopefully Oblivion will be much better suited to those people, while still letting the sandbox people play There are several ways to cut down the longest journeys, btw. Join the mage guild for one. Then you can teleport to several cities (through the mage guild houses). There are also stilt walkers and boats. There are also some spells to learn to get into a city fast. This post is rather irrelevant to the topic however, I realize now...
  14. You're a prisoner arriving to Morrowind by ship. I don't remember exactly, but for some reason or other you're being released and the guard captain dude over there tells you to deliver a package. (oh right, now I remember... it's a spoiler though) Anyway, Morrowind - the land of the dark elves - is not the jolly holiday resort it used to be. There's a disease abroad, mutating good folks of all sizes and genders. The mainplot in morrowind deals with this new brewing evil, but also upon the dark elves and their culture - suffocated as it is beneath the steel boot of the empire. The disease part isn't actually seen that much in the game. It's just a small part of the whole chaos awakening thing. There's also the tale of heroes being reborn  to fight the evil! I never played Bloodmoon and Tribunal, I fear.
  15. Hmm, you can get an energy blade in Seattle. That's as much as I wanna say without it being a spoiler. The EMP damage is with ANY melee though, so a combat knife works as well I just love it. Swom, swom, swom. No more laser! I fiddled a bit with the biomods (because you get like a gazillion of them near the end), and aggressive defense drone was also pretty nifty. I think it only drains energy when it detonates a rocket. Although I love the setup with only passive biomods (except for vision enhancement).
  16. Most definately. Which is weird though, because in the old viking religion this giant dude died and his brains became the clouds and blood the oceans and his hair the trees etc. The term mother nature probably wasn't used back then, but when later adapted to swedish the gender naturally followed.
  17. Yeah, it's mother earth here too. In the swedish military you don't say "mr. Captain" and stuff though, just "captain" etc. (Ja, Kapten!) I was in the army, as well. I think we refer to things as the sea, the sun and such as "it" most of the time. In normal speech that is. I don't know why ships are different EDIT: You know, to this day I'm still not sure what you're supposed to do when you meet more than one ranking officers (of different ranks). Because it's just silly to say good day to each of them individually.
  18. Sweden "is a she". Moder Svea (Mother Svea)... sorta like Mother Russia. Svea was one of the... err, parts of Sweden back before it became Sweden (Or Sverige, rather). Right now I can't remember the name of a single other part of sweden back then. Oh right... G
  19. Yup, but Jade Empire is a different take on the fantasy genre. Its not stereotypical swords and sorcery with dragons and elves and whatnot. I would like something that isn't swords and sorcery. I would absolutely love a good Steampunk game. A lot more over the top than Arcanum though. Something more like Chris Bachalo and Joe Kelly's SteamPunk comic series, with the emphasis on crazy technology instead of the battle of magic and technology <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, Steampunk would be awesome... I'd like something like China M
  20. Mods for the game or biomods? I can recommend electrostatic discharge (passive!). Then get yourself an energy blade. Then you can cut at laserbeam (alarm lasers, gas lasers etc) projectors to disable them. in fact, one or a few hits disables most droids. At least with the biomod at lvl 3. I just loved the fact that I never had to waste any multitools on lasers. I still do, since I'm playing the game again... funny thing, I'm not sure the texturepack is doing it's job. Or I've been spoiled by new games and their high-res textures Vision enhancement biomod is recommended... I don't think I would've found those specially modded pistols without it. I also got strength. Carry more inventory, lift heavier things. *shrugs*
  21. Utter coolness... I never got the Camarilla ending, hehe. I think I managed to get all of the rest of the endings though.
  22. Cranial = Neural I/F Skeletal = Thermal Masking. I know last time I was playing, when it was first released, I ened up clearing out neural i/f for cloak after the half-way mark. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just installed the game again, and it all comes back to me with that damnable music. It hits me right in the soul, it does. Even the old unreal version of the song kicks ass. I was more of a natural sneak (silent footsteps and stuff) so I never used the cloaks/thermal things.
  23. Sam Neil or John Carpenter? Carpenter has some good stuff: I still like The Thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *Snickers* I don't really understand your question... we get both of them in In the mouth of madness. The Thing is probably Carpenter's best, I believe. I meant 4 days left until E3, or summin...
