  1. Interestingly, those games came out after LucasArts decided to can the Good Games department and put all their monopoly money into the Bad Games Department. (That was a joke, really, but they did can the Adventure game department, or at least neuter it beyond recognition.) edit: Haha, Tim Schafer was also Brooding Morale Coordinator on Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II!
  2. Whoa! Great Awesomeous Prime! EDIT: A shame that there's no PC version comming... I have a sneaky suspicion I'd enjoy this game. Alas, 'twas not meant to be.
  3. Downloaded it, and I gotta say... I'm not sure "free" was cheap enough for this plug-in.
  4. I think the PC gaming industry at large might jump into making multiplayer and MMO games in the future, due to the money involved. It's also harder to pirate these games. So we might have a future where SP games move onto consoles and all we PC gamers get are MMOs... and indie games. And Sam and Max! ^_________________________________________^
  5. I just wasn't sure about who owned the franchise, so to speak. Not the D&D franchise, the NWN franchise.
  6. Interesting! I'd love to see Tyranids actually, just because of the nostalgia of blasting 'em. (Although there's a mod for that, but I'd prefer to do it on an RTS scale). While I'd like to see a DoW 2, I think the DoW 1 engine is good enough for another expansion. I do hope the SP campaign will be something sufficently new though. EDIT: Is there any reason why one of the new races shouldn't be Dark Eldars? EDIT: Haha, sorry... just realized that the Dark Eldars are confirmed.
  7. Does anyone know what this'll mean for further NWN2 expansions and support?
  8. I played DE:IW before Deus Ex, which, I think, was a good idea. That way I enjoyed both titles. Had I played Deus Ex first, I would probably have hated Invisible War. I never thought DE:IW was a GREAT game, but it was ok. Though, after playing the first one, the sequel definately feels shallow and small. Anyway, as I said, I got to enjoy two games, rather than enjoying one and then getting a huge dissapointment.
  9. Yeah, this and Eschalon: Book I has piqued my interest on the Indie front. I like Jeff Vogel's games and all, but it's nice to play something new once in a while I think the AoD setting has potential, and there are lots of gameplay elements that sound interesting. The good thing about Indie games are that they always release a demo ... so we'll see how Iron Tower's first game holds up.
  10. I haven't played Mercenaries 1, but from what I've seen of Mercenaries 2, it has the potential for some good co-op action.
  11. Zombie Jesus, YES! I love that game. It needs a sequal (with co-op support). Just imagine it now; Imperial Commando and you get to purge Jedi. The only downer is that you can't yell "Die, Rebel Scum!" ... or can you? The plot of the new movies wasn't that memorable.
  12. Thanks everyone! Some of those games piqued my interest. I'm a huge on/off space-sim fan (Orbiter FTW, although I've never gotten further than the moon), so Starlancer sounds intruiging. Zoma: Hehe, that would be the Alien Swarm I mentioned earlier Keep em comming though, you can never get enough co-op games. ps. Republic Commando would've been a great lazy afternoon coop game.
  13. Rainbow Six: Vegas was actually awesome in Co-op. Not sure my bro has the PC to play Gears of War when it's out for PC. Not sure I do either, heh.
  14. Actually, even Dexterity is used in at least one dialogue. Probably Strength and Constitution too. I would probably have played the game even without any combat. Then again, this might prove that the combat wasn't that great in the game. Although I never had any problems with it. Heck, it even had awesome drawn out Spell effects, like that dragon throwing a meteor and stuff.
  15. Yeah, I agree with Gromnir... isn't the Proper D&D Rules Implementation Crowd rather small? Judging from the Bioware forum, I'd think you guys would work full-time on romance, interface, faces, and romantic interfaces. Seriously though, what I've read so far about MotB sounds really promising. Is MotB going to be co-op friendly? On par with NWN2 oc, better, worse? The only thing bothering me with the OC on co-op so far (we haven't even gotten to Neverwinter yet) is that the game pauses for dialogue a lot. Which is really good for SP, I suppose, but gets annoying when one guy is trying to shop.
  16. Is there a Sven co-op for Half-life 2 out? EDIT: Btw, if anyone else is looking for good co-op, I'd suggest Alien Swarm. Although you need UT2004 to play it. http://www.blackcatgames.com/swarm/ They're working on a Source version (both a mod for HL2 and a purchasable stand-alone version).
  17. No Xbox, I'm afraid. Otherwise I wouldn't have to ask for co-op games edit: Thanks for posting though. Been thinking about BG1 or two, since we both have em, but meh.
  18. Hello there. Me and my brother's currently living under the same roof. We've got a LAN (naturally), but so far we haven't used it much. We've played DSII (pretty much wasted money, but it was bargain bin price) and NWN2 so far. Anyone got any suggestion on good co-op titles? And I mean of any genre really (preferably real-time though, since my brother is slow enough as it is ). FPS, RTS, RPG... you name it. All I'm really looking for is a good co-op campaign. ps. I hate starting topics, I'm always afraid I'm posting in the wrong place and that I didn't make a thorough enough search. Btw, we've also got Dawn of War and GRAW. GRAW didn't feel quite right and DoW we've played to death. TO DEATH I SAY! Plus it hasn't got a co-op campaign, which is a criteria I'm looking for. edit: Spelling.
  19. Speaking of NWN2, me and my brother's playing the NWN 2 campaign over LAN. I'm actually playing a Cleric for the first time. I haven't felt that useful yet (as a divine caster), except for that first cemetary. Man, I stole the show (Sun domain and all). It'll probably be a while before we play again though, since I'm getting a new job this Wednesday. I also picked up Dark Messiah. It's both fun and not fun... not sure how I feel about it.
  20. Yes, that's not the fragment I was referring to, though, was it. Jeesh, is it really this hard to observe a bit of objective truth; two dialogue options both lead to the NPC offering the PC "something you can do for me" or "do what I tell you." As much as VDweller assures me these are different, they look like two options leading to the same quest, which is railroading, which RPGCodex hates and Vdweller mocks in other games. Man, learn to take some friendly ribbing already. It's going to get a lot worse once this game is out. Oh, sorry. By fragment, I thought you meant the fragment of the dialogue tree posted, since it wasn't the whole dialogue tree, just one branch of it (hence, it's a fragment in itself).
  21. "2. [streetwise] That bit about the treasure was way overdone, don't you think?"
  22. Well, you only had one main PC to play, the Nameless One. And he looked like a corpse. I bet that had a lot to do with how well the game sold. While you could play like a Knight in Shining Armour, you couldn't look like one. And you certainly couldn't play female. And no Drizzt. (Hehe, just kidding). I remember that even the PR mentioned he looked like hell and smelled of embalming fluid. Personally, I found large portions of BG1 to be dull and only a year or so after I bought it did I play it through. PS:T I've played through about 3 times (i.e from beginning to end). The reason for this is because there's a lot of story there to find, and some different paths you can take. The NPC's in your party are characters you can talk to, which is a big plus, and wasn't in BG1. To this day I haven't finished BG2. I'm not sure why... I mean, I played through the NWN 1 OC Anyway, in BG1 you could play and look like your classic fantasy hero and villain (well, look like one at least...) and you did so in a classical fantasy setting. And you could play female. I'm not sure that the female crowd was large enough back then that it mattered for sales, though. Sounds shallow? Welcome to planet Earth.
  23. Yeah. If you've got one of the smelters (which I presume you have at that point) you can upgrade your armor, weapon and helmet* by going to the forge in your castle. I believe it's the orange stairs down. I'd wait until you've finished a "level" before going back though, since I think enemies come back and it can be a hassle if you're in the middle of a map or summin. *= The helmet upgrade is pretty useless. It takes around 100 minions to get +1 minion cap. edit: Crap, sorry... should've edited my post above instead of double posting
  24. I usually go for 20 browns, 10 greens and 6 reds... depending on the situation. 16 reds if there are good placements for them. The greens usually guard the reds while the 20 browns drown any enemy I point at. I also tend to poke at the enemy with my mace a few times. I've found that most enemies are allergic to my Overlord's Arcanium mace. Unfortunately I lost interest when there were no halflings left to bash.
  25. Hah, the Alien Shooter: Vengeance is wicked. Thanks for the tip, I was looking for something rather mindless like this. ps. Man, I don't visit for a month or so and the forum UI has totally metamorphed... I smell gnomes at work.
