  1. That is weird. Perhaps some other effect is revealing your presence to the enemies. In turn based mode I've exclusively used Shadowing Beyond to get the Assassinate bonus. However there were some cases where I'd loose it. For sure ticking spells (but I think those reveal you entirely) but also very loud incantation spells - particularly Freezing Pillar - it was almost never possible to finish casting it without being revealed.
  2. Don't forget Kitchen Stove bb. That thing's unique per encounter power is insane! With the Assassinate boost and good Int, it would destroy whole groups of enemies (and if someone survives, they have a nasty long debuff that makes them far less dangerous). If you do the DLC, Seeker's Fang rapier would be pretty sweet with Spider's Flurry. Although if you have a melee inclined Cipher in your party, he may have better use of it.
  3. ...which is a pretty huge disadvantage IMO. When using a Full Attack ability you're not only halving your number of attacks with their damage, Penetration (most rogue abilities have Pen bonuses) and Accuracy (some), but also you reduce your chances to afflict enemies with assorted debuffs and/or DOTs (two-weapon attack = 2 chances to inflict statuses).
  4. Well, I did you gather prizes that would make the Blackjacket/Assasin work beautifully? Especially the Kitchen Stove? Other earlier decent per encounter weapon special abilities include Whispers of the Endless Paths aoe whirl (or single target impale - if going for Backstab) and Modwyr Bottoms Up! single-target strike. Later for example Spider's Flurry from Seeker's Fang rapier would be sweet too. Anyway, you don't have to enjoy it Regarding Evoker/Assassin, if he were a Bloodmage, you'd never need to resort to rogue skills. Of course, this is less of an issue later on. IMO in such a build, the Assassinate bonus should be used for aoe spells (Chillfog, Corrosive Siphon initially), not single target attacks.
  5. Yes, possibly. But a Blackjacket would be more versatile (and IMO interesting). Not limited to one weapon (type). And exploiting special powers of various weapons. Here is another source of inspiration (with another axe - albeit available much later)
  6. My proposal was to use Assasin along with Blackjacket. Those special weapon abilities like Thunderous Report would be very strong with the Assassinate boost. Also Oathbreaker axe Assassinate attack can be deadly VS a large group.
  7. Yes, unique weapons and their unique attack powers. Some of them very potent and aoe. Usually not daggers though
  8. Hmm, not sold on such a combination. Streetfighter / Devoted is strong, particularly once he gets Unbending and can charge headfirst into the fray (and safely get Flanked). But Assasin's strenght lies in avoiding being the enemy target and launching few but powerful attacks - rather then sustained engagement. I would like to suggest another fighter subclass then: Blackjacket who carries 4 different weapon sets and uses powerful weapon encounter abilities from stealth, with the Assassinate bonus (such as Thunderous Report from Kitchen Stove, Run Trough from Whispers and others).
  9. Don't forget Trickster has Repulsive Visage. That neuters many melee opponents. Also can't agree with "you'll die as fast as any other rogue" concerning the Trickster. He may not be a tank, but is way more durable then an Assasin or Streetfighter.
  10. In case anyone's interested, for my FF/Trickster Shadowdancer I took a lot of inspiration from Frykas' Shadowdrugon build:
  11. Sounds good! Just remember to equip heavy armor before ship battles and maybe a few other tough encounters. Streetfighter doesn't do anything for your casting ability (other then reduced Recovery when Blooded, I guess), so I'd only use that combo if I to mostly ignore casting (except a few buffs) and wanted to melee only. Then again, in such a case, I'd prefer other multiclasses, I think (fighter, paladin or even cipher, monk, barbarian).
  12. Personally I'd go Bloodmage. Loosing Conjuration is painful. Also, shocking oneself with Chain Lightning while wearing Deltro's Cage helmet is the single largest damage multiplier... and when you do that you DON'T want the Chain Lightning spell to be duplicated (like what Evoker special can do).
  13. Well, I wouldn't choose Shattered Pillar monk. Not without the Community Patch anyway (restores Wound limit to 10, like other subclasses). Still cannot get Wounds with active ability attacks if I remember correctly, so still not great. Nalpazca might be the best overall, but personally I hate reliance on drugs (and the risk of a nasty debuff if you're hit with Arcane Dampener). Helwalker is damn strong, but a bit risky for close quarters melee without a durable multiclass (could be okay with a Trickster maybe - could be a nice combo!). Vanilla monk is... okay I guess. But personally I'd rather still pick my favorite Forbidden Fist. Both for own synergies with stuff like Stunning Surge duration, disabling healing on tough/annoying enemies and for other party members and their CC and debuffs. If you also pick Toxic Strike with decent Int its just an OP combo. I'd not pick Torment's Reach/Raised on such a dual wielder, though - its a Primary attack, so that would slow you down. As for rogue subclass... IMO Assasin only makes sense if you plan to take advantage of the Stealth mechanics (or Vanishing strikes if SC). Streetfighter is a beast offensively, but you must be careful when combining it with squishier classes. Trickster is always great.
  14. IMO dual rapiers with modal are fine if you like that. Rapiers have fast attack speed, even with modal they are only marginally slower then "normal" speed weapons - and for me dual normal speed weapons are plenty fast enough. I agree with not taking the Streetfighter/Berserker. Been there and indeed the damage is sick. BUT my char did keep dieing all the time.... NOT fun. I'd however still consider a multiclass with a monk. Simply because how insane "free" hit chains from Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming are with a high crit rate. Sometimes getting like 10 hits instead of 1... Maybe only vs enemies easy to crit... but it was a rather large group for me, I've found. And you can debuff enemies quite a bit (reason I've liked Confounding Blind - although with a fix mod). Particularly on a monk Scordeo's Edge saber is very good, as it can stack a lot of Accuracy bonuses also (up to +20 AFAIR) and when Blade Cascade triggers, things get insane (and it triggers much more often when you make a lot of hit rolls with SF/HBD chains). Its nice to immediately cast Salvation of Time with a Priest then...
  15. Stealth. I think you actually cannot try to pickpocket if the target noticed your presence. Note sparkcrackers are useful: They will grab NPC attention and make them walk towards the effect to check what's going on. This will change NPC locations and directions of their sight cones.
  16. Well, it can certainly work for a fast & furious attacker. Personally I'd find the low Int painful. Even though monk helps a lot with that. But then I'd not go for DOTs (like Toxic Strike), I think. Even Stunning Surge stun could be disappointing. Personally I'd shave some points off Dex and Might and boost Int to 10 minimum. I'd also consider buffing Perception even more, but I'm a crit junkie and below PotD its less important, I think.
  17. I'd use a rapier with modal offhand (cause of great accuracy - and crits offhand lead to free additional main hand attacks via Swift Flurry / Heartbeat drumming). Or Sun & Moon flail for its dual attack, I guess. More defensive Focus woul be the Tuotilos Palm buckler. IMO not necessary, but some swear by it. Main hand I'd aim for Scordeo's Edge Saber. Before that Grave Calling Saber would work well. Or maybe Magran's Favor battleaxe (potentially with modal).
  18. IMO you should build in a way that FF will help your other abilities (or abilities of other party members). You should not try to make it your only attack. That would be not only boring, but also wasteful. You definitely don't NEED 30 Resolve. I do recommend always using Mohora Wraps food after Neketaka, but that's a negligible cost after the beginning.
  19. Why non-FF? Less Wounds initially, but a potent, free special attack/debuff that works great with rogue DOTs.
  20. It might. But still, 2 engagements is not much. Not when I have Eder with like 5, who grabs the attention of most melee enemies when combat starts. My initial plan was to use Tuotilo's, it really was. Took Weapon & Shield. But after experimenting for a while, I dropped it. It just wasn't great for my playstyle of a fast and furious striker who rapidly eliminates the main threats. If I didn't have Eder or another sturdy tank, things would likely be different. But for off tanking, the shield isn't necessary on a Trickster.
  21. That's very cool. Now if only the enemies wanted to stick to my offtank like that and not go after easier targets. In practice I think actively disabling dangerous targets with high mobility beats a more defensive playstyle on an offtank. At least if you also have Eder or another proper tank along.
