  1. Thank-you. Since my two posts before were in review for a while before accepted, when they were approved (cheers, by the way!) they were 'posted' in-place at the time they were made. Meaning, a lot of people didn't get to see my point. PLEASE address this issue, Obsidian. Marking it as a gift doesn't always work and is technically a false declaration. Customs (in the UK at least) can ignore it if they wish, I would not worry. With Paradox doing the fulfillment, they will likely dispatch from a warehouse inside the EU. Therefore no customs check or duty fees for that matter. What I'm worried most with option #2, is that pirates get they hands on the game before it's even released. Spreading it all over torrents sites. It would be a shame if people who just leech from the work of others, would play the game before the backer even do. Even more since it will be a pre 1.0 version, not yet patched to the finale release day version. Which could possibly contain the one or other severe bug. Those pirates then will based on those bugs, which are fixed in the final 1.0 version, spread bad reviews. From previous reports we already know, a game that gets leaked/pirated before release will suffer from a big drop in sales. This is something a precious old school RPG in the spirit of Baldur's Gate don't deserve. There are not enough made of those these days, to risk it further development by pirates. After all, I want see a POE2 one day.
  2. I prefer option #1, as I'm planing to install via Steam anyway. Kudos for going the extra mile with the shipping costs. I would actually not mind to get my disc at a much later date, after we had a couple of updates runs behind us. Of course at home I have 24/7 internet, but when I'm deployed oversea, Internet is often not reliable, fast or even available at all. This are the times when a CD-Rom drive and BG2 Complete on disk are worth a box of booze, and a USB-Key full of nudity. Though thanks to the folks at GOG.com, playing got much easier when forced offline. Then to have a disk of POE with a stable and bugfree version would be great.
  3. I love D&D but I want Pillars of Eternity to be unique. If the game was designed with this system and values in mind than there is no reason to change it. No copycat please.
  4. I'm fine if you do what was already done in BG2. Teleport them next to the player if their pathing timeouts or the player gets to far away. But the idea to exclude them from transition requirements is an excellent one.
  5. I'm not sure, but won't we get some combat behavior scripting and even an editor later, like we had in Baldur's Gate? I made extensive use of the combat behavior settings and later created my own scripts. This was very helpful to reduce micro management, especially during difficult fights at higher levels and in the expansion. Like against the demon prince Demogorgon with a >lvl20 party. In general it paid off and was fun to customize scripts to adapt to my play style. Almost like strategy planing how to use ability in the right way, and when to trigger certain effects depending on status conditions. Great fan of this. I even had to fix a bug in BG2 when I did my bard script, because activating his confusion song (TOB ability) via script caused it to apply the confusion effect to friendlies too.
  6. This is related to a known issue that is caused by saving the game. If you save the game, your scroll will will begin to scroll our ambient map effects as well as the fog of war. Transitioning or loading a game should fix this. Thank you all for your continued efforts during the backer beta! Thanks for the info, was just to search for this issue next.
  7. Until this game support a mouse-exclusive mode I recommend Cursor-Lock. This freeware tool will lock your mouse cursor to one screen or even inside a specific window. Thanks to global hotkey support, you can toggle it on/off and switch modes when ever you need to. I myself have been using it for almost 7 years now
  8. I'm eager to see more Orlan portaits. For both gender, taking an account for various skin, hair color and styles.
  9. I think if the player just want walk along a path without much concern and micro then he should play on easy. But on normal I would expect at least standard behavior from a player during an encounter. Means fighters at front and not to expose your supporters.
  10. Thanks to all your Kickstarter updates detailing the design and iteration process I understand now how complex and time consuming the process is to develop new areas and fill them out with content. Of course I would love more areas to explore and without hesitation invest an other $30 bucks to fiance the development. But I would like to know more about the scope and more importantly the additional development time projected to go into this. If that mean an other 3-4 months development added I am OK with it, but if it goes so far to push back the estimated release beyond 2015 I would refrain from giving any money at all, just to avoid this scenario. Instead I would then prefer stretch goals for the promised expansion following the game release.
