  1. maybe they compensate for the fact that their island has been conquered several times and they never managed to kick out the invaders. the romans, the saxons and the vikings to name some. the only invasion they ever stopped was germany in ww2
  2. simple, they chose enemies who couldn't fight back
  3. but this why we like Trump. with him the memes write themselves. politics is a joke so may as well have a joke as president
  4. well, speaking of zombies and water, lets not forget that water is very hard to move in if you are walking and the pressure at the bottom of the sea is really big. unless it swims to minimize drag, it would take a zombie several months of walking at the bottom of the sea to reach the island IF it can overcome the forces exerted on it and isn't swept away by currents... and doesn't rot to be just a pile of bones in the meantime
  5. the reason it was not named PoE3 is the same reason the Witcher 3's logo and marketing were changed to make the 3 less prominent or even ditched it completely. the wider audience was barely (if at all) aware that the game was the 3rd in a series with the first 2 being more niche so the presence of a 3 could turn them away as many would not be too keen on playing 2 older games just to catch up on the story, even if the game was designed to be standalone. the fans still knew it was the 3rd game and were hyped and the casuals were blissfully ignorant. while this is not PoE3 (most probably) the logic is the same; those who know get excited about a new game set on Eora, those who don't just see a new Skyrim style game. as for Fallout 3, you have to remember that that game was made before gaming had become a mainstream form of entertainment so the majority of the target audience were people in the know so the marketing (and naming) at the time was different
  6. my take on this is that PoE was made in order for Obsidian to have their own IP and PoE 2 was made to expand the lore and mechanics. both were kickstarter projects, both made on a budget and both meant for a niche audience and all in preparation for the time when they can get a AAA publisher interested in their IP and make a big game for a larger audience. not that the 2 PoEs were not good games, but the limited budget shows itself in the details like how thinly stretched some mechanics are
  7. blur effects and such don't make me feel sick but i don't like them anyway. most of them are meant to mask the choppiness of 30fps, on a higher frame rate you don't get this problem
  8. you should try different FoV settings when available. usually the narrow FoV in consoles is to limit what's on the screen so the hardware can handle the rendering but that causes nausea. higher FoV feels more natural to the eye but you only get to set it in PC versions of games. the FoV is just as narrow in games with a "behind the back" perspective but the presence of your character on the screen distracts you from noticing
  9. TL;DR, things with sufficiently high gravity that spin, make the space itself around them spin and things that pass through the spinning space come out with higher energy than what they entered. meaning that we could potentially harvest this difference for infinite energy
  10. i always get 1 number right on the lottery ticket because i buy the one with the number 1234567890
  11. even if they can't tamper with the forms, which i can understand, it's still a non obligatory field so the employee could simply ignore it instead of pushing my case back another week. also, i had to give a copy of the ownership contract of the house (according to the accountant they should have no need for it, they should already have all relevant documentation on the house considering it was built in 1972 and every owner since has been paying taxes for it) because, according to the employee, i had to prove it was a house and after giving it to them they called to say that i submitted no proof that the house is a house because they couldn't find the copy among the mountain of useless papers they had me bring over the last 2 weeks. because 9/10 of the papers i had to give them, the IRS already has but who'd want to check the database and look for them when you can make the life of the citizen miserable?
  12. someone here today went in the IRS building with an axe and started swinging. i can totally understand why he did it because i'm this close to going there myself with a chainsaw. i was given back some papers i submitted because they were wrong... in one box of one of them i had to put in the number 2 and i didn't so i had to get the papers back, add the number and then make an appointment to give them back. seriously, couldn't the employee just add the missing number in box? the paper says "the house is adjacent to 2 roads - A and B" and the box says "number of roads adjacent to the house" how hard was it to fix it on her own by adding the number? its not even an obligatory field so she could just leave it empty! and after all that, she called and said that i need to submit other papers that i have already submitted on the office next door to hers but she somehow can't just go ask for a copy there.
  13. for my brother coffee is an excuse to drink sugar
  14. my mother told my brother not to buy those flip flops because they were slippery. he didn't listen to her. he kept slipping in the house but always pretended that it wasn't the flip flops. today he was taking some luggage down the stairs in the flip flops and slipped. fortunately he didn't break anything (almost 3 hours of tests in the hospital to make sure) but he has quite a few bruises. well, they did find something unrelated to the fall of which i warned him many times given how much sugar he consumes: a fatty liver. my family already consumes too many carbs and fried stuff but when it comes to sugar, my brother is eating more of it that all of us together... like 3 table spoons in his coffee amounts of sugar.
  15. i was looking around my steam library to see what games i should download for the time i'll be away from internet. i expected to see an endless list of games i havent played but as i went through the list i realized that i have only 2 games that i started and never finished and 1 game that i never played at all. i would get some more of them but my HDD is dead so i only have the 250GB SSD.
  16. the fact that the tube for breathing and the tube for eating are connected is not a flaw. imagine having a bad cold and no air passes through your nose and you can't breathe from your mouth because the mouth is not connected to the tube that sends air to the lungs.
