  1. Poor right wing people on Russia aren't ones who want union and old Russian Empire's areas back, because they don't want to lose their jobs for people in those areas. They are pretty much similar to poorer right wing people in EU who make big sunk of people that oppose its expansion. Have you ever visited in Russia? As you seem to have very american view of it.
  2. Right wing people who want union back in Russia don't want communism back, they like their money too much. Main thing they want back is USSR's role in world politics
  3. It was conservative ideology in USSR, then new radical ideologies come from the west and pushed communism out
  4. Ironically AZ is only vaccine which has been blocked by EU and US
  5. I would guess that lots of people who have lived under Mujahideen's rule would be willing to try old school Soviet Communism
  6. At least that is official standing of US towards the agreements, but that seems to be their standing towards all international agreements that don't benefit them and even then only parts that benefit them are ones that have any legal standing. (Russia has not been any better on this front). So only compulsion to act on those agreements is the fear of losing power in international politics, but that has been quite weak motivator for our global 'peace keepers' Technically agreements with Belarus and Kazakhstan are their own agreements but content in those agreements is identical with that agreement with Ukraine
  7. USA and Russia both promised to ensure Ukraine's independence if they give up their soviet era nuclear weapons, in Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum_on_Security_Assurances https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapons_and_Ukraine
  8. Portland and Chicago seem to be bit different levels https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/81203 https://home.chicagopolice.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/19AR.pdf https://home.chicagopolice.org/wp-content/uploads/1_PDFsam_CompStat-Public-2021-Week-13.pdf
  9. Bill Gates is largest private farm owner in USA, so he would probably give big thanks to any rural area that stops selling food to democrat ran cities. It would also be bit funny if those democrat run cities would block red states from selling their product to China 💸
  10. To prevent spreading full vaccination rate should be over 70% of population and even Israel which is closest to reach it, is still couple months away from reaching it. Also as majority of world population is not vaccinated and there is lots of talk about summer tourism, we probably will see multiple new waves all over the world until we reach point where we have seasonal vaccination in global scale to give us some sort of peace
  11. I think that is quite impossible considering how sports make majority of budget of many universities and smaller towns. So politics are inherently build in many sports because so many non-sports people's income depends on it. And when you include in fair play, acceptance, tolerance and being example to others which are big part of sports mythos which by themselves already force politics in the sports, especially when those principals aren't necessary among current politicians.
  12. Russia has habit to test their neighbors state of readiness periodically. By organizing their war games close to borders, intentionally intentionally violating air and sea areas. Publishing some politicians hubris how Russia should take back its old territories. And they also like to build up military bases close to borders and claim that they aren't there even though you can see it from the border. Above things are what Russia constantly does to Finland, so now that Ukraine isn't anymore Russia's close ally they also get to enjoy such hilarities addition to all the unrest caused by Russia's intelligence operations.
  13. https://apps.texastribune.org/features/2020/texas-coronavirus-cases-map/ Vaccine doses reported INCREASED An average of 250,448 vaccine doses were reported each day in the last week. As of March 31, 14.3% of Texans have been fully vaccinated. Average new cases INCREASED by 166 cases compared with the seven-day average a week ago. On April 1, 2,409 new confirmed cases and 797 new probable cases were reported. Hospitalizations DECREASED by 456 patients compared with a week ago. As of April 1, 2,954 Texans are hospitalized for the coronavirus. Average new deaths DECREASED by 20 deaths compared with the seven-day average a week ago. On April 1, 118 new deaths were reported. I am not sure if those statistics with that vaccination rate give any case for celebration. Especially if average new cases continue to rise there is high probability that hospitalizations and deaths will follow
  14. Yes, institutional racism is very much phenomenon that happens everywhere. But the question was not if UK is somehow exceptionally bad on this front, but if UK is somehow has been able to solve such issues and minorities there don't face any disadvantages because of institutional issues. Reading the report I noticed that they try to make things look better than they are by excluding many common factors from their study like family influence, socioeconomic background and religion, as they don't any way analyze why these factors are more common among minorities than among majority. But of course it is true that poor are poor because they are poor and therefore there is no need for putting any effort to analyze why people are poor in first place.
  15. Also some of UK's white people vote ethnic candidates, but question is why white people are seen to be better to lead the country. That is clear text book example of institutional racism, which maybe caused by multitude of factors, like white people have better education or they get better visibility during elections, etc.. And these factors are then again caused some other factors and so on. Which creates institutional disadvantage for minorities.
  16. Institutional racism is mainly laws, customs and economical and social realities that cause minorities to be in disadvantage compared to main population. Which includes political lower political power than their proportional number in population would suggest. Usually institutional racism is not caused by malice towards minorities, but conventions created to support majority which incidentally put minorities in (greater) disadvantage.
  17. You could question that study only based on fact that 4.2% of UK's MP's are from ethnic minorities where 14% of their population belong in ethnic minorities.
  18. Last year there was decrease of demand of insulin because of covid-19, but still their over 11 billion dollar revenue that they get from diabetic treatments increased 6%. Although they say that growth was mainly because of Trulicity (which increase body's own insulin production) and Jardiance (which decrease amount sugar that is absorbed by body). Both are meant to decrease amount of supplement insulin that diabetic needs. Trulicity is more expensive than insulin (at least here) and Jardiance doesn't work alone but also needs either insulin or Trulicity or both as part of treatment.
  19. increase in demand from 2000 (~17 million) to 2016 (~29 million) was ~71%, but price of insulin rise about 600% even though it become easier, faster and cheaper to produce during that time. Also In 2012, the average cost of insulin per diabetes patient was $2,864 per year. By 2016, it had risen to $5,705. https://www.singlecare.com/blog/insulin-prices/ https://healthcostinstitute.org/diabetes-and-insulin/spending-on-individuals-with-type-1-diabetes-and-the-role-of-rapidly-increasing-insulin-prices (geo blocked in EU, needs US vpn to read) During this time of price doubling demand rise in US from ~25 million to ~29 million so ~16% Also when you look how price of long-acting insulin has increased and short-acting analog insulins https://www.businessinsider.com/rising-insulin-prices-track-competitors-closely-2016-9?r=UK It is interesting how all four products prices seem to constantly stay about same price, also it doesn't seem to have any impact if the insulin is long lasting or short lasting and new competitor on market in 2005, didn't drop price even though supply increased. Global manufacturing capacity of insulin far exceeds demand of insulin, but 90% of global insulin markets are dominated by three companies. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6593686/
  20. Mistake post, where I meant to edit, but quoted instead
  21. they can't price themselves out market where they don't have competition because US government don't let new companies on the market These two aren't even close match https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/pdfs/data/statistics/national-diabetes-statistics-report.pdf
  22. Dropping demand will just increase its price, because drug companies like to have steady income and they don't care if people bankrupt because they need to pay thousands of dollars for one dollar medicine because they don't have any alternatives if they want to live
  23. It isn't inflation in case of insulin. It is unregulated market of product which has no alternatives, which means that people who need it have two choices, pay what drug companies ask or die. It is just pure robbery supported by US federal government, considering that insulin is 100 old drug that was never patented, but still only couple companies have right to sell it in US and there is no regulations for how much those couple companies can ask for dose which cost them less than one dollar to make.
