  1. I agree and I'm not sure why it was done this way in the first place. Stealth/Scouting Mode is tied to a Game State however, I think that's why changing it might be tricky, and probably something we will not see before release (maybe in the expansion though?). Again with area transitions, not sure why it was designed this way - possibly to cut down on memory use *shrug*, I'm not sure. This is something that the devs haven't even acknowledged before and is also probably something that will not get changed by release.
  2. I like the goals behind many of the design decisions (obviously not this one), but the implementation/actual mechanics leave much to be desired. If anything, many of the mechanics have proven exactly why the tried and true ways of doing things are good ways of doing things.
  3. Yes! It's so ironic that the developers included a disable AoE Highlight option, rather than a disable highlight for everything else option, lol. AoE Highlighting is like the only case where it is useful.
  4. I doubt that, actually. Especially considering it was D&D. People would have added more 2E stuff.
  5. Just tested it myself then, it does affect action speed but it's kinda hard to notice unless I equip plate armor.
  6. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get Obsidian to remove the system. I tried, but I failed. The Tamerlane goons that prefer bad combat win. However with the improved AI, there's only two other things that need to be done for my no engagement mod to be really good, and since those are both technically bugs in the game, hopefully I can get them fixed. Bester has a point though, I've never known a game where the first mods will be ripping systems and features out of the game, rather than adding them in. Especially UI related ones. The amount of poor UI decisions is mind boggling sometimes.
  7. Nice find, I thought that when picking Dexterity it felt like it did nothing, so I always left it at 10 or dumped it below 10 You might also want to check things that are meant to slow down action speed. I swear that when I use the Cautious Attack modal, it does not slow down my action speed when I toggle it on, but that might just be placebo?
  8. Could possibly related to the "this character is currently busy" line as well.
  9. No it doesn't, only the AI targeting part of the system does. That part can exist without the disengagement attacks.
  10. Witcher 3 released at around the same time as PE means less PE sales. That's a given. Now they don't have to worry about it. Divinity Original Sin benefitted from their release date, as there was no other 'big' RPG released for quite some time (or big game, for that matter), and they enjoyed #1 on steam for quite a while. Wasteland 2 was kneecapped by Shadow of Mordor after about a week, maybe a bit less.
  11. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt delayed until May Feargus Urquhart jumps for joy in his office.
  12. I have made one thread about it - this one, but discussed it in many other threads. Really? So you read all of the OP and decided it was an AI issue, when Obsidian have stated that they are changing two aspects of the mechanic itself not related to the AI - see here Preparing and planning is not tactics, preparing is a part of strategy. Tactics and strategy are two different things. I love it when the people that argue for this system speak abstract of the game in idealisms. This is what you are doing here. Have you actually even played the beta? You can do that with or without the Engagement system. You can do that with the Engagement system. Yes it is. No it doesn't, actually. I quote myself
  13. While we're at it Korgrak also has no recovery time Ivory Spinners have no recovery time and no limit as to how many times they can cast Spinning Web in an encounter (with no cast animation, I might add)
  14. Game also does not remember which party members were selected, and upon loading a game, all party members are selected rather than the ones you had selected.
  15. Strange bug with Accuracy 0 DT, Paladin Flames of Devotion and Maces (recognized by QA) Flames of Devotion has no recovery time (recognized by QA)
  16. This is a weird one and I do not know why it is occurring. I have been creating characters and testing them 1v1 against the House Harond Guard to see if I can reproduce the random rare instances where Accurate weapons would neither get their accuracy bonus from Accurate 1 or Fine property, and instead I found another strange bug. So far I have only been able to reproduce it when doing the following. Equip one or two maces (any quality) Use Flames of Devotion to open combat against the House Harond Guard Select to auto attack afterwards House Harond Guard successfully knocks you down You get back up from prone and attack him The first attack will have +10 Accuracy vs 0 DT (but normal DR %) All other attacks occur as normal Here are two screenshots of it occurring Normal accuracy here should be 72 In this one I had 80 accuracy It always and only occurs on the first attack after being knocked down when attacking with a Mace (normal, fine etc). Does not happen with any other weapon.
  17. Prodigydancer has a point, if that is your opinion then you obviously haven't read any of mine. Make a video where what can be used tactically? You are being unclear. I think I know what you're trying to say, but I'd rather you say it.
  18. Only initial positioning. It puts all the emphasis of movement into strategical movement (planned movement) and movement in the combat opening. After the opening, combat becomes a stand still. Every video that showcases combat in Pillars of Eternity demonstrates this. It is banal/boring gameplay. Actually no, it doesn't make position frivial, it opens everything right up. The Engagement system removes many elements of tactical movement and positioning that the Infinity Engine games had. Even the simplest action such as shuffling a character to the side so you could fit another melee character in the pathfinding space is met with a disengagement attack, which is quite laughable. If you really need a video demonstrating all of the things the Engagement system removes or makes pointless, I'll make one.
