  1. I missed the codpiece but my MC is a female and wouldn't that be out of role playing: Aloth could probably use though doesn't strike me as needing one either with his personality. However he is male and I guess has the proper equipment. Now you've got me going. Those is no proper slot for that sort of thing.
  2. I have been putting off going to the area where Tidefall is but will get it. I still need the Boots of Faith. My priestess has a belt slot open but I have no idea what to put there. Since bonus items don't stack it gets to be a game of who gets the lolly.
  3. It does look nice. I went for a digital tier and I may get this map. Thank you.
  4. Thank you for the post, Gromnir,as I am currently playing a Priest of Berath. I did not max her stats or dump con. We are level 8 right now and I have some very gear for her so most of my are beefed up. I do have to watch her endurance. She is using the broad sword Justice. This is a great thread and I think the differences show how well the devs did in making this a player's choice game.
  5. Nyro, if you are making your priest your main character the disposition, positive and negative are important but if you are creating a hired adventurer they are not except for character profile as far as I know.
  6. Anyone who has studied actual medieval combat knows that the ability to bend steel bars has nothing to do with the ability to fight. It is called might because it is more than brute strength. Edit: of course the devs could have had both Strength and might but exactly what would pure brute strength do? What would it add to the gameplay?
  7. I enjoy the music for PoE and feel it sets the mood of the game very well without being overwhelming.
  8. Except for dragon meat and eggs food ingredients do not cost much and making food doesn't cost anything. Food can be used to boost stats for dialogue options as well as for combat. I find food useful but not mandatory.
  9. Hi, Nyro, me again. I am no expert on the subject and I hope one of our experts answers you soon. To start you off I will post what I have learned. It may not be 100% correct though. DR = Damage reduction. Plate Armour has a base DR of 12 and is good for your main tank. It does slow down your recovery speed by 50%, Plate also has a bonus to slash and pierce giving a DR of 15 or 125%. As you proceed in the game you will find Fine and eventually Exceptional Armour which increase the DR and even some items that have special enhancements. As for athletics I think the best is to put three levels into it. That gives you 80% bonus to Max Endurance and 90% bonus to combat endurance. Think I worded that correctly. Be patient and I am sure someone who really understands the subject will help you out. Eder is currently my main tank and I give him the best I can find, You should get early on some cloaks that will give a minor bonus to deflection. Give it to your main tank I would say.
  10. Paladins also have healing spells and I think you can give the talent Field triage to anyone. Which reminds me I need to do that the next chance I get.
  11. Durance takes some getting used to. Aloth is the weakest character and needs buffing especially when faced with shadows. I fin it interesting that in my latest play he has done the most damage also been knocked down the most. In a couple of earlier plays I had him die because I didn't keep track of his health. Your party members can die permanently even when playing on easy. Remember that food gives bonuses that are longer term than potions. Feed your party members before a battle and you can feed them during battle despite what the game says. Some people recommend keeping Ale, Beer, mead in a quick slot. Cheese has also been recommended. Why priests get more spells to start I have no idea maybe someone else knows and will explain. Priests also need mechanics to set there seals.
  12. Thank you, I think there are several reasons for that. 1) We are serious role players here. 2) Even when we disagree with each other we are still comrades. 3) By posting on the official forums we can drive the developers crazy with all our suggestions as to how to improve the game. 4) We have really good moderators here. Ps: Some of the developers are well known to posters here. Obsidian is a family of sorts with all that entails.
  13. No, you can play at your own pace. Skip a quest and go back to it later which in some cases is a good idea.
  14. Yes, good idea. I did one play where in Act II I couldn't get the rep for Defiance Bay up and I ended up with one quest giver not believing me and turning hostile. Be careful about stealing things.
  15. I understand what you mean. Next to actually playing the game what I enjoy most is discussing the game with others who are congenial. That was true back in the early days and is still true now. I love to find out how others are playing and it also gives me new ideas as to how to do things. Multiplayer would change the game and I have seen interviews with the devs where they explain why they couldn't do that.
  16. I am not sure but there is a quest in Ondra's Gift that involves them. Try doing that one and see if you get the option to side with them.
  17. Nyro, I have a feeling you will learn the game mechanics very quickly so if you do find easy difficulty too easy remember that you can switch to Normal in-game. It works this way - go to options change the difficulty to normal then exit to a new area. That changes the difficulty level. Then you can go back to wherever you wish and try it out. PS: Pick up every thing you have plenty of room in your stash. Even those junky looking notes may be of importance.
  18. There may not be tons of mods but there is an interest in it and there are a few already. It would be nice to have a dedicated place to go to for discussions, links, and advice on what we can currently do. It would also show that Obsidian is favorable to the idea in so far as is possible. I am sure we are all aware of how beneficial to the Bethesda games the modding community has been. PoE is a great game in itself but mods will only increase the appeal of the game which in turn increases sales. Free advertising, free workers, free is always good...well usually good. A modding forum would also alleviate our pestering you.
  19. Soon™ is 3 month+? Well... Dunno, maybe they are trying to sort through the massive load of mod threads that don't have a dedicated home. I'll mention it again or you guys can PM directly to the Global mods. Thank you for replying. If they had a modding forum they wouldn't have to sort through modding threads.
  20. A little note that some new players don't realize. You can pick up two pre-made party members in Gilded Vale and you can hire an adventurer at any inn. Depending on what my PC is, class that is I usually hire a rogue to start as you do need someone with mechanics skill. Endurance is important so give your party members points in athletics, recommendations vary but I think three is good.
  21. @ Nyro, welcome to the forum and world of Eora. I may not be the best person to sell you on this game. I am an avid reader and a completionist. To me I backed this game with every cent I could scrounge up. I also love this game and have spent hours playing it. You have already be warned that there is a lot reading in this game. There is also a definite learning curve for playing the game. I strongly advise taking your time right from the character creation onward. Every decision you make does have its affect. Explore and then explore some more. Talk to people, dialogue is important. It affects what people will tell you, what reputation you will achieve which also affects what people will say and do. This is a very complicated game. The devs tried to give players as many options as they could. I played the early IE games and loved them but then I was playing the TES games so when PoE was released I spent a few hours just playing on easy with all hints and even the in-game tutorial turned on as I knew or at least certainly hoped that this would be more like those early RPGs. Enemies are not leveled to the character's level so be aware of that. The game does have some leveling especially in the wilderness areas. In the beginning the monsters are mostly low level. It is the scripted quests that cause most people problems. Even what first seems a simple fetch and carry task can have its surprises. Although there is certainly a good bit of slash and bash in the game it is not a slash and bash game. PS: I have not seen any pre-order info for the expansion. Please ask questions if you need more info.
