I think my first play through of DX was around 100 hours. lol. That was a LONG game. Most games these days woudl probably end when JC escaped from MJ12/Unatco. DX was just getting started at that point.

We're all conservative when dimensional shamblers are on the horizon.

9 hotkeys wasn't nearly enough, especially with the horrible inventory UI that made switching anything a total pain. For me it was: 1 ) Melee weapon/light melee weapon 2 ) Heavy melee weapon/one hand range weapon 3 ) semi automatic 2 hand range weapon 4 ) automatic range weapon/combat shotgun/minigun 5 ) stimpacks 6 ) Heavy weapon/sniper rifle/plasma rifle/grenades 7 ) frag mines/heavy weapon 8 ) bottlecap mine It was a ton of switching about and really annoying.

True, but it's the cable TV costs that always struck me as both a) prohibitive b) crap I still pay comcast for my internet but I use it for business, school, games etc and so forth so its worth the money. And it's still cheaper than even the most basic cable tv package, even though I have to pay an additional $10 more for the internet simply because I don't have cable tv. Really, I can't stand Comcast, and you know their tech's didn't even wear white booties when they installed ny cable years ago, despite their advertisements to the contrary. Jerks.

dlc is not meant to appeal to the patient consumer, but instead preys on the junkie mentality o' many gamers.... but we agree with your observation. Gromnir almost invariably waits 'til the initial (and inevitable) patch before making our game purchase. typically this means that Gromnir gets a more stable game at a somewhat reduced price. with the advent o' dlc we should consider the wait a few more months to get the Full game. HA! Good Fun! Yep. And I pretty much agree completely with your previous post about DLC, but if, as a customer, one does have the patience to wait for a while, I think one can get more for their money in a DLC age than before it. Now, whether or not the DLC is all that good to begin with is a whole other question.

There's limited ammunition and respawning monsters... lol. ok. Point taken. I'm just old and slow.

ss2 took me like 50 hours. You guys should stop and savor the moment a bit.

For some reason it only looks decent in first person view. And with a ton of modded in effects like weather settings and etc... That makes sense. I didn't think FO3 looked THAT bad when I was playing it. Maybe it's just seeing those still images that makes my eyes throw up.

DLC is great. Just wait for the GotY version and get a whole ton of extra content for less than the price of the original release of the vanilla game. Plus patches. Just takes a little patience. Happily video games aren't critical to a worthwhile life so there's no rush to play them.

Why the heck does FO:NV look worse than games that are 10 years older? I mean, looks aren't that important, but it's still kinda embarassing.

I cancelled my cable a long time ago.

Ok seriously, that's the greatest name ever. You should trademark it before someone on the internet steals it and makes oodles of cash.

ABout the only thing that can make Oblivion interesting, sadly. FO3 was such a giant step forward for Bethie's rpg development team, and it's the main thing that gives me any sense of hope for Skyrim. But I'm still concerned, justfiably, I think, that Skyrim is going to be more Oblivion and less FO3. Not that FO3 was a perfect game, but it was SO much better in SO many ways.

That will probably be Umbra again. The amusing thing here, iirc, is that Umbra's ARMOR is level-scaled. It looks like regular Ebony plate, but if you run into her early in the game it actually has lower stats or something. lol. Bethesda was so out of control with level scaling that it made Oblivion reeeediculous.

Im hoping for full voice-over AND Witcher-like romance with collectible "I totally did it with this NPC" achievements. HAH! Will Beth go the boobie card route, do you think? Trade them on the internet? Maybe make a boobie card minigame?
-
COuld be good... As long as he/she isn't freaking level-scaled to be just "a bit of a challenge but not really a threat." If a "best swordsman" in the land seeks me out, he should be a badass who makes me bleed. Not some wimp who dies in two hits. Can anyone say "ARENA CHAMPION AT LEVEL 1!"? I knew you could.

Frankly, that image is somewhat demeaning. I'm much more glorious and radiant than that.

Nothing like good mudcrab talk! Or NPCS coughing up wads of phlegm. That's cutting edge AI, all right.

Bethesda generally craps on optimism, I've found.

Yup, that was pretty much the best approach. Use the wrench as much as possible for the first 1/2 or so the game, while making sporadic use of the pistol when absolutely neccessary. USe the shotgun for a while in the mid game. Then switch over to the assault rife for the last couple levels. ALl the while hording nanites to buy more ammo in the late game. Weapon balance was one of the game's biggest problems.

From a character and story and atmosphere perspective I think MW is Beth's strongest RPG by far. Overall I prefer Daggerfall and its huge dynamic world, but MW does a lot of good stuff.

Out of curiosity, what does that mean? All things to all people I suppose, I meant it in the post Black Isle/Biowarian sense, dialogue heavy with lots of skill based interactions, Elder Scrolls games have practically nothing in the way of using a skill to affect the story or environment. As for rewarding exploration, true, New Vegas has tonnes of weapons to find but Fallout 3 had weapons, masses of computer logs and smartly arranged clutter to provide exposition, New Vegas certainly took some inspiration from that but I still felt the exploration was a bit empty compared to following the (excellent) plot. Horses for courses as they say. OK, thanks.

Good news. Not ideal, but good enough.
