  1. I got it on Malachor V. It came in handy because it is basically unblockable so you can spam it on people and watch them drop.
  2. It is so easy. Two simple powers....Insainity and Force Storm. Throw in a little Force Crush for the end and you can take out anything in the game. I even pick them up with a lightsider and it doesn't make a dent in my force power bar. The hardest build for councelor/SM/JM is one devoid of offensive force powers except throw lightsaber and destroy droid. It got a bit difficult at the end with a lot of tactical retreating from large groups.
  3. It matters in terms of any cameos from KOTOR characters. There were options to kill every NPC in the game except T3, HK, and Candorous, so their fate is strongly tied into how you played KOTOR. Also, it is assumed that the fate of Revan might be disclosed through the plot of the game. The circumstances of his fate are intertwined with his alignment at the end of KOTOR. Finally, and this might be wishful thinking on my part, but how you ended KOTOR might have an impact on how NPC's interact with you, as you are a Jedi. I imagine that if Revan went darkside, the general opinion of NPC's might be that the Jedi got what they deserved from the Sith. If you went lightside, their general attitude might be a bit more tragic and Jedi-friendly.
  4. Think of technological progress as a bell curve on an x,y axis. At the begining and the end of the curve, an increase in x creates a modest increase in y. However, an increase in x in the middle of the curve results in a much greater increase in the y value. That is what I meant by the marginal increase of technology in SW. Earth would be somewhere in the middle part while Star Wars is somewhere in the far right end of the curve.
  5. Yeah the shields of Revan's battleship were down. However, the technology in KOTOR is inferior to the movie tech, like an origonal Apple Macintosh is to an brand new IMac. The Leviathan, according to starwars.com, is slightly smaller than the Republic "Acclamator" assault ships from AOTC (600 meters v. 752 meters) so it is easy to compare them. (model of a Republic Acclamator Class Assault Ship) The Leviathan was the first ship to have prototype interdictor technology, however the tech is considered "inefficient by modern standards." (sw.com) The Leviathan had 20 quad laser batteries (similar, though probally weaker than the turrets that are on the top and bottom of the Millinium Falcon) and only four turbolasers. The Acclamator, in comparison, has 12 turbolaser batteries, 24 laser cannons, and 4 missle tubes. So in the almost four thousand years between KOTOR and AOTC, a ship almost same size as the Leviathan packs at the very least, 3 times the firepower and can land on a planet's surface. Also keep in mind that the Acclamators are weak compared to Victory, Imperial, and Super class Star Destroyers. The technology to develop these much more powerful weapons was present during the prequel trilogy but the market forces and poltical will to develop them only came from the Clone Wars and the subsequent rise of the Empire. Also, because the SW galaxy is much farther along the technology curve, the marginal change in technological development is much, much less than what happens on Earth. It is compariable to early human development, in that it took us a long time to learn the skills necessary to develop the skills that we now take for granted, like reading, writing, and abstract thought. Execept in Star Wars they are so far advanced that there is very little left to discover and all they can really do is make minor improvements rather than revolutionary discoveries. Like the Rodian in the Czerka HQ on Tatooine said: Every year, the droids get a little smarter but nothing really changes.

  7. His proof is fairly evident by asking the opinions of the Mandalorian in the mannaan cantina. He isn't refering to that single Iridorian as bloodthirsty and crazy, though I'm sure the Iridorian is. He is making a racial generalization of all Iridorians. The generalization is supported by the attitute of the Iridorian when you ask him questions.
  8. The major flaw with Galaxies illustrates the reason that there will most likely never be a KOTOR-like game with a non Jedi class. I played Galaxies from launch till the first year anneversary. In the game you could be just about anything you wanted. I had two characters, a doctor/gunslinger and a droid mechanic. But as soon as the players found out that it was possible that anyone could get a Jedi character through a formulitic method, involving mastering about four random professions (which was dubbed hologrinding), about 90 to 95% of the players started hologrinding. So despite the oportunity to develop a character that could be anything you wanted it to be, even bounty hunters, martial arts masters, and commandos, the vast majority of players tried to grind their way to get a Jedi, even though Jedi's were weak compared to some of the non-Jedi classes. The mass movement to grind Jedi's ruined the economy of the game as it became very hard to find master crafters and almost forced players into guilds to survive. Realizing the negitive effect of hologrinding and the mass appeal of Jedi's and the Force, the devs for Galaxies are implementing a quest based system for becoming a Jedi, which anyone can do to make their characters force sensitive. The end result will probally be whole servers of force sensitive players. So the point of this exposition is that given the choice between being any profession or class in a starwars game, the vast majority of players will choose to be a Jedi. Though it would be nice to have a choice, it is unlikely that a developer would waste the technological and monetary resources for such a small gain in sales. The non-force user character is better off for an fps, like Republic Commando, or something where you can control spacecraft, like Tie-fighter because it is the one game-oriented arena in Star Wars where non-force using characters, like Akbar, Wedge, and Han Solo shine. The other is Diplomacy but I don't think there is a market for a game where you debate policy with the likes of Mon Mothma, Leia, and Borsk Fey'la.
  9. Its a good idea, the problem is that the loot drops in KOTOR were not random at all. Sets and uniques are what gives a game with random loot drops like Diablo 2 its replayability. KOTOR is more story oriented and the randomness of loot was sacraficed.
  10. It would be funny at first if your enemies ran way. But I remeber there was a creature in Diablo 2 that did that and it used to piss me off to no end to hunt them all down with a melee class. So I doubt that it would be much fun to chase them down in KOTOR. Plus, if you were a lightsider, it may be morally dubious to hunt them down if they ran away.
  11. Its hard for me to qualify the most evil act in KOTOR, but I can narrow it down to three: I always feel dirty after taking the woman's wraid plate. Kicking Sasha off on Korriban always seems more horrible than any other option Making Big Z kill Mission is truely evil. Dishonorable mention goes to giving the Promise Land scrolls to Iegar instead of the old koot. Screwing over a whole people for about 200 credits is the epitome of greed.

If you slaughter the Sith on Korriban early in the game and talk to the Czerka reps and employees on other planets, they mention that something strange is going on with the sith on Korriban and give their opinions on the matter. But other than that, people are fairly oblivious to you, even after the winning swoop races on Tatooine and Maanaan and escaping from the Leviathan.
  13. Well, Marl did say he was quitting the dueling rings. Perhaps he somehow escapped Taris and got a job working security on Telos. If only he were carrying a double bladed vibrosword... I respect Marl because he was always the hardest to kill in the dueling ring...though that isn't saying much.
  14. yeah, they are probally republic, either that or Telos has its own planatary defense force. Notice the helmets. They are similar to the Alliance soldiers from Episode 4.
