Happy Vesak to everyone. I never really thought about it, but taking away all craving seems like a dead end for humanity to me. It seems to me that we need to learn how to deal with craving, rather than dealing away with it altogether. Desire is fundamental for our survival.
  3. Really? Well, that sucks. I was thinking of buying RE4.
  4. I thought IWD2 was properly challenging. IWD1, on the other hand, I didn't find particularly hard. Not that it was easy, either.
  5. Keanu Reeves has had acting lessons?
  6. Yes, and it was quite excellent for its time.

I just remembered a Physics teacher in my Swedish High School who was one of the richest men in Sweden. He really just did it for love of teaching.

What's the average school class size in the States? When I was a kid, here in Portugal 30 students per class was fairly common. In the 50s and 60s, however, 40 students per classroom was normal.
  19. How do you know the actual crime rate in China? Are there any reliable statistics on the subject?

You'd be surprised how many 'bad teachers' I've run across. But it's not just a matter of how good or bad the teacher - no matter what their answer, it's likely to sound like "It just does" to me. My brain is very visual and I just can't visualize abstract formulas & explanations. It takes an exceptional teacher to make me do that. Most don't have the time, even if they have the know-how. Luckily, higher math isn't a requirement for social survival. I wouldn't be surprised. Teachers are, more often than not, incompetent. What annoys me is the amount of people that blame mathematics for the teacher's failings.

I've always hated that explainaton! I'm tempted to say that your bad relationship with math was a result of the way you were taught instead of a consequence of any fundamental lack of affinity on your part with the subject.

    That's a pretty bad teacher.
  23. Perhaps you should say the same thing about all killers. Like the guys who condemn other people to death, for example.
  24. And we all know we can't have more "vrimes."
